Grammy for Best Recording Package

Posted on February 28th, 2002.

Amnesiac got awarded with a Grammy. Not for the music but for Best Recording Package of the Special Limited Edition. Thom and Stanley Donwood accepted the award at the Los Angeles Award Ceremony. Coldplay won the award for Best Alternative Album with Parachutes. [thanks Greg]

There’s a set of essays about each of the songs on Amnesiac at lastplanetojakarta.com. They’re written by John Darnielle of the popular indie band The Mountain Goats. The essays are all located on the archive page. [Thanks Melissa]

Beck has recruited Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich to work on his new album. The star, who has been working on songs with Dan The Automator in recent months, has recruited the producer to work on the latest sessions on the follow-up to his ‘Midnite Vultures’ album. Godrich has worked with Beck before, producing his acclaimed ‘Mutations’ longplayer. Sources close to the singer have hinted Beck hopes to get the same work ethic instigated on the new album, working on a song a day. It is currently unclear when the as-yet-untitled new album will be released. [from NME, thanks Adam]
