More new album details from the band
Radiohead are to set to return to the studio in September in Los Angeles after the remainder of their Spanish/Portugese tour. Jonny Greenwood said: “We’re going to LA to record to the new album. No, it’s not very ‘Radiohead’, but we recorded the last album in a cold northern Europe location because we thought it was us. It wasn’t. So we’ll try this.” Joking about it being a West Coast album in the style of The Eagles or Lynyrd Skynyrd Jonny said:”Well Phil’s singing, so it could work out that way,”
He said that the tour of Europe had been great fun but that headlining Benicassim was different: “It’s not our gig so we won’t be playing a load of new songs just one or two.”
In the end Radiohead played exactly that; ‘Punch Up At A Wedding’ in the middle of the set and set opener for all the shows on the tour so far ‘There, There’ as an encore.
Speaking backstage afterwards, Colin Greenwood told NME.COM: “I’m glad people enjoyed it but the sound wasn’t that good. I’m looking forward to the last three dates. ”
He also enthused about Primal Scream’s Mani: “He’s a fantastic bass player.” [read the sroty in full at nme.com]
