Radiohead’s second night in Dublin

Posted on May 19th, 2003.

Radiohead’s second gig in Dublin was even better than the first. Tonight the sound quality was much better. The band also played a different set, but still left out new album tracks ‘I Will’ and ‘Wolf from the door’. Like the evening before Radiohead started with ‘There There’ and ‘2+2=5′, with Thom taking pictures of the crowd. ‘Morning Bell’ (Flamenco handclapping by audience) and ‘Scatterbrain followed up and weren’t played last night. Another change was introduced by Thom as ‘This is the one with the really difficult keyboard part’, which was ‘Kid A’. Rarely played live and indeed a very easy instrumental part for Thom.’

Other new songs compared to the night before were: Climbing up the walls, No Surprises (Thom with a funny voice: ‘The guitar ain’t working. it ain’t working. is your guitar working?), Talk Show Host, We suck young blood (Thom taking photos again), Street Spirit and a stunning Fake Plastic Trees. Paranoid Android was announced as a dirty song (Dirty! Dirty!).

Last night’s gig was again sold out and the venue was packed, including U2’s Bono and The Edge. Some hours after the gig, Thom took some time for fans waiting outside the venue. The band will play in Belfast tonight. Setlist is available in the gigography.
