Colin audio interview

Posted on June 9th, 2003.

There’s an interview with Colin Greenwood available at Cutting Interviews. You can listen to an audio stream. Here’s some bits from the interview:

How much does the audience’s reaction influence the final songs? Colin: “With this record the audience really loved songs like ‘There There’ and the songs they didn’t like, we didn’t record [laughs]. This is a very democratic album in lots of ways and how we worked on the music and then how we played to music to the audience. After we finished playing the music to the audience we went into the studio for two and a half weeks. It’s like a photograph of the tour taken of each song. It’s like a memento. It’s like we finished to whole thing before we started. Which is interesting.”
Is that the reason why ‘There There’ was the first single and not ‘2+2=5′. Colin: “That’s the one we wanted to have as a single as well. It might be a single one day. [Colin sings: 'It's the devils way now'] It’s one of my favourite tunes on the record. It’s great, it’s cool, it’s fast, it’s loud, it’s WOOF!”supposed to be four insertions for the ad. [Thanks Ben]
