YEAH, WHAT HE SAID!
If you access the secret website when you buy Rufus Wainwright’s new cd “Want One” you can hear a track by track commentary. For the track “Go or Go Ahead” Rufus has this to say mid-track: “I’m very happy with the sort of rock feel of this — some people say it sounds a little like Radiohead, which is a big compliment I like the fact that you can understand the the words though, too (laughs) I do love Radiohead, they’re incredible… “. Of course, we all know that Rufus saw Radiohead at Field Day and said it was the most impressive concert he’d ever seen
And in an interview with Jack Black (9-26-03) on IGN.com, Jack Black was asked what he is listening to in the car: “I really like Queens of the Stone Age. And, the obvious, The White Stripes, I love Elephant. Radiohead, of course. I love Radiohead. Hail to the Thief… excellent, excellent record. I also like, The Strokes. I’m lookin’ forward to hearin’ the new Strokes record. There’s not very much of a chance that it’s gonna be as good as their first one, but if it is as good as their first one, then forget it. They’re The Beatles.”
A review of the Unicorns at Pitchfork mentioned some Radiohead body parts: “It’s a marching band desending out of Thom Yorke’s vagina, doused in amniotic fluid and vodka, traveling to Ian Curtis’ funeral.”
