Get your Radiohead at Tesco

Posted on November 8th, 2004.

UK Supermarket chain Tesco has launched a digital download music service offering tracks from artists including Radiohead. Music fans can choose from over 500,000 tracks at the online store, with singles priced at 79p each and albums costing £7.99. You can also listen to a 30 second clip. Tescodownloads.com will operate on Microsoft’s Windows Media Audio format. According to Tesco, it chose this format so “music lovers will have the choice of listening to their music on over 70 different portable music players”.

Apple’s iTunes, the UK’s most popular download service, is only compatible with the iPod music player and doesn’t offer any Radiohead tracks. Tesco has all of Radiohead’s album available and a number of singles and b-sides.
