Thom Yorke in Australia’s Sun-Herald
Australia’s Sun-Herald have an interview published with Thom Yorke today. Thom talks about being a spokesman for Friends of the Earth when he doesn’t even put bricks in his dunny or recycle properly.
“I have no integrity in these things, I haven’t done enough,” he laments.
It’s no secret Radiohead disappeared a bit after their ambitious Hail To The Thief tour two years ago. “Everyone was having kids and we needed to get away from the whole Radiohead thing because it had become something we didn’t understand any more,” Yorke says.
“It wasn’t much of a life any more . . . it was getting to be a bit of a drag, in a spoilt, white boy sort of a way. I felt we had become part of a very stale system - you know, band does record, record comes out, band goes on road, promotes record doing live gigs, plays lots of old songs, etc etc, record company does normal record company things, much bullshit is spoken, everybody goes home feeling a little bit dirty.” [read it in full, thanks Dan]
