KT Tunstall questions Thom Yorke’s eco attitude
Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall has pledged her support for fellow Thom Yorke – but insists he doesn’t need to abandon his career to save the planet. Last year Thom Yorke voiced his concerns over the green credentials of touring as a band, and suggested he might refrain from going on the road again as a result.
But Tunstall has urged Yorke to continue touring, as his influence will help entice fans into being environmentally aware. She says, “I don’t agree with that argument (that touring in bad for the environment). He (Yorke) puts out less carbon output than a massive conglomerate company. And that massive conglomerate company can do nothing, or isn’t interested in doing anything in raising awareness about the problem. But Thom Yorke’s got an incredible voice and there’s no point in sabotaging that.
“And someone like (him), I’m like please go on tour! Because so many people will follow what you say, because they really respect you. And they know that you really know what you’re talking about.” [source: PR-inside]

Nope, not much news at all.

I think Yorke is doing a good thing anyway. I don’t question his socio-political attitude because he’s moving for a critical situation and next Radiohead’s LP7 will be a great record. He’s a really inspiring person, a good example, that’s enough.

yes, perhaps the title should be changed to something else. the headline sounds like she doesn’t think Thom is legitimate, but the article is about how she worries about radiohead’s future touring.

misleading title a bit kna mean? oh wait… that’s been said already. ok , well then damn….
here’s what i think: the band learned their lesson about rushing a recording, and this time they’ve taken longer in the studio than they ever have before to make sure the album winds up exactly how they want. if you have any faith in their abilities at all, that should be pretty reassuring

The pompousness of this article is at such an elevated degree that just reading it is making me dizzy. Thom’s political and social philosophies are as ignorant as his art is brilliant.

Work? Drive? Cook? Buy?
Thom hates you. And he’s better than you.
Wear a rubber, cause Thom hates your kids as well.

Bullshit, it’s all bullshit…
Why does he keeps on touring???, why if he/they stops touring??? He never comes to non-developed countries. Of course makes good music, but he keeps an eye on the money…

Why are all you so-called ‘fans’ slagging off Thom Yorke and his attitude to the environment so much? Just because he gives a shit and makes you feel guilty, you people feel you can rip apart his political and social views to make yourself feel better. Yes Radiohead use a lot of energy with their live shows. But they are also in a very privileged position of having the ability to influence others on the importance of environment problems, so stopping live shows would be a bad thing considering the amount of influential artists today that dont give a shit about the state of things outside their little money-making world in the slightest. Wake up people. EVERYONES a hypocrite in our society. But its what you do and endeavour to do that counts, not what you dont. Give Thom a break. If you dont agree with his views, you dont have to abuse him on a FANSITE.

who’s KT Tunstall anyway? I’m a “singer-songwriter” too (I make songs and sing), but that doesn’t mean anything.
This doesn’t sound like an argument, it just sounds like he/she wants Radiohead to continue playing for his/her own benefit.
I think that Radiohead could do environmental messages during the concert, like maybe do a break halfway through and have someone give a speech, then continue playing. I was reading a book called “the End of Poverty,” and apparently U2 did stuff like that.

I’d like to echo the point made that while Radiohead have very noble ideas and all that, the fact that they have yet to tour an ‘undeveloped’ country is glaring and problematic.

I think that headline’s a bit mis-leading. I can’t stand KT Tunstall but she sounds more like a fan than someone scrutizing Thom. You probably just put her on a bunch of atEasers shit-list for no apparent reason.
news is slow, no?
