Jonny Greenwood: new album is finished
It’s still unclear when we can expect Radiohead’s next album. But at least there’s been a confirmation today that LP7 is actually finished by now.
Guitarist Jonny Greenwood confirmed to Paste that the album is done. The not-so-good news is that the band has no idea when fans will be able to hear it.
“We just had a meeting about that today,” said Greenwood on September 7. “We’re very relieved to have finished recording, now we have to decide what we should do with it.”
Radiohead completed its six-album contract with EMI with 2003’s Hail to the Thief and is currently unsigned. Can anyone say bidding war?

can we all, as ateasers, pool our money together and release this album ourselves. i would totally shell out a couple thousand to get this friggin album out.
not only would we get new radiohead, it would completely shake the face of the music industry. like a big hippie commune releasing music fit for a multi national corporation

I think… Radiohead will change the music with this record.

5+ years is just unacceptable. Just think, during the period 97-03 we got ok computer, kid a, amnesiac and HTTT. This album is sure to suck because of this over perfection. Most of us have already heard these new songs a million times over which will end up becoming two years since the shows last summer. By the time the album comes out i’ll be tired of arpeggi.
I think Radioheads chance for redemption is to shake up the record industry a little more. If they release their new music in a compressed format and lossless format and charge accordingly bypassing the whole CD, vinyl thing and saving the environment in the process, they could bypass the whole record conglomerates, old B&M stores, keep way higher profits for themselves. Plus the music would get to the fans today.

Shut up Zaydon!

Yes, surely it will suffer from being too perfect. Uhuh.

Did Kid A suffer from overperfection? Let’s get it together people. Radiohead haven’t been working on this album the whole time they were off..Jonny did work with the BBC symphony thing and Thom did his own album…what I’ve heard so far sounds awesome

i hope we at least get a double album for our wait with a lot of god damn new songs off the black board… if not all the flippin songs off that!
It has been too long, I have even gone past the point on checking dead air space every day now because im slowly loosing interest in the hope that that will make me love this album. Leak the damn thing and let us buy it later!

Yes, sadly it looks increasingly likely that Lp7 like Kid A and Ok Computer before it might just suffer from being too good. Alas Alas…
and yes the Eraser is great you should really listen to the rest of it.

here’s what I think…LP7 will finally be released and then BANG!, a maxi-single hits the shelves and then another BANG!, a DVD is released, and then BANG!, a tour is announced. Patience is a virtue kids…remember that.

I hate to piss on this parade, but Jonny hasn’t actually said anything new… we know that they’ve finished recording… He didn’t actually say they’ve finished the record full-stop, meaning they yet still could be mixing but now are turning their attentions to what to do with it when its completely finished.

Zaydon, heres some advice. Stop talking shit. Stop listening the live songs on youtube or whatever. Stop complaining that you waited too long for the new album. I know Radiohead for only 6 months and I cant wait either but whatever… just stop listening the new songs. I think Nude and Videotape (My favo!) are going to be the new Karma Police. And the rest are so good (I hope they made Spooks longer or maybe with lyrics or something) so just be happy
Its finished! And I hope they will make Nude (’98 version) on there B-sides ![]()

zaydon, if the 2002 tour was indication, everyone is just as excited to hear the final form, and to see what made it onto the album.

I’ll bet this just means the recording’s finished, since that’s what he says, and a lot of mixing, production, and mastering remains to be done.

Um, isn’t their perfectionism and procrastination some of Radiohead’s best attributes. And isn’t our patience always richly rewarded? Stop complaining guys!

i agree with some of the others that it’d shake up the industry good.

I have an idea guys…Let’s take another five years to release the album on top of the five years it took you to record the album. This album better be good.

zaydon, you claim that we got 4 albums
from 1997-2003, but what you fail to
consider is that it took 4+ years just
to get Kid A. was that wait worth it?
uh, i think so!!!! as already mentioned
above, perfection is one of the things
we love about radiohead. it’s taking
longer than we would like, but i’m sure
they have their reasons (whether we agree
with them or not). this album will be
GREAT!!!

You guys are all going to get the album and you are all going to love it. who are you kidding? this website is only visited by die-hard fans, and we can complain all we want, but when it comes album release time we will be frothing at the mouth and riding high on a radiohead rush!

the new album may be musically great, but the kids dont want this anymore (mostly) - theres no market for it commercially - httf was a great album, but its sad that commercial sales and critics had the final negative say, radiohead are artists, not celebrity rock icons - time creates hereoes; and dissolves celebrities

jeez stop complaining, the members of radiohead are different people now than the era of ok computer / kid A when they had the time to dish out albums every other year. nowadays they all have families and need to spend time with them. the album will be out when its out, why rush them?

Same shit happened with Tool, being a great fan and expected so much about their newest album that took so long coming out and now it’s just not good enough.
I know Radiohead’s album will be very interesting, but will it be good enough for fans like myself?
