HMV lists ‘In Rainbows’ release on Parlophone

Posted on October 3rd, 2007.

Online CD retailer HMV.co.uk has listed Radiohead’s new album ‘In Rainbows’ for release on December 3d through Parlophone.

In e-mails sent out to subscribers HMV offers a pre-order of the album (1 disc) for £11.99. The release date is the same as the shipping date of the DISCBOX, which will be sent out by W.A.S.T.E. The mention of Radiohead’s old label Parlophone is even more surprising.

However, Radiohead’s management have told ateaseweb.com today that there is “no news on who the band will partner with as yet, or indeed when the release will be, so this is not the case. At the moment, there are no plans to release a commercial/standard CD before Christmas.”

So, as reported earlier, this means the first disc will only be available for download on October 10th, through inrainbows.com and on December 3rd as a DISCBOX with the extra CD, 12″ vinyls and artwork. Also, only available at the official album site. All available for pre-order now.

It’s weird that HMV would offer a preorder if nothing has been officially announced. I personnaly wouldn’t preorder it from HMV without an official statement fro mthe band.

What is HMV up to? aren’t they putting their reputation on the line here by setting up false pre-orders? What is some poor soul got hasty and went ahead and pre-ordered it only to get nothing on Dec 3rd?

didn’t they say it was coming out in november a month ago? and everyone thought that was too early to be true…

Doesn’t HMV pretty much always jump the gun on these things?

Probably will end up like the whole Amazon pre-order fiasco months ago.
