‘Paranoid Android’ tops Ultimate Radiohead Top 20
Radiohead fans have voted ‘Paranoid Android’ as their top favourite song. The track from ‘OK Computer’ was number 1 in the Ultimate Radiohead Top 20, which was broadcast on Phoenix FM tonight.
‘Paranoid Android’ topped the list in the previous edition (2005) as well, when ateaseweb.com and Phoenix FM first asked Radiohead fans for their all-time-favourites. The ‘OK Computer’ album is represented in the Top 20 with 8 tracks. For the first time, fans could vote for tracks from new album ‘In Rainbows’. 3 of those tracks (Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Nude and Reckoner) made it to the Top 20. Forthcoming single ‘Jigsaw Falling Into Place’ almost made it, but got stuck at 21. The track which Radiohead is most known for, ‘Creep’ surprisingly didn’t make the list. Niether did the other tracks from Radiohead’s debut album ‘Pablo Honey’.
Here’s the full list:
1. Paranoid Android
2. How To Disappear Completely
3. Idioteque
4. Let Down
5. Pyramid Song
6. Street Spirit (Fade Out)
7. Fake Plastic Trees
8. There There (Boney King of Nowhere)
9. Everything In its Right Place
10. Karma Police
11. Exit Music (For a Film)
12. Reckoner
13. Nude
14. Lucky
15. 2+2=5 (The Lukewarm)
16. No Surprises
17. Climbing Up The Walls
18. Airbag
19. National Anthem
20. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
21. Jigsaw Falling Into Place

I’ll never understand the popularity of “The National Anthem”. Can someone explain it to me? It’s the same fuzz bass riff, over and over, for like 5 minutes. I know Thom likes it a lot. What am I missing?

Not a big fan of There There, Everything in Its Right Place, 2+2=5, but it’s pretty good. Glad to have Arpeggi, which I assume sounds great, having not heard the album yet. Bit bored of OK Computer right now, but Airbag and Let Down are always favorites. HTDC and Idioteque are happily high up.

” The track which Radiohead is most known for, ‘Creep’ surprisingly didn’t make the list. ”
I don’t think that statement’s true anymore. Now they’re most known for self-releasing an album online. ![]()

‘Just’ is screaming to be on this list. Glad to see ‘Let Down’ high up , its my personal fave, and HTDC. High & Dry should be on too, it’s a great pop tune. Idioteque should be lower, and Everything In..(which is over-rated). Need another from Amnesiac - i’d say Life in A Glass House. National Anthem should be higher. I’d replace Climbing Up for Fitter Happier (just for its perfect lyrics). The In Rainbows choices are on the mark. Tis a great setlist.

What I would like to know is what the amount of votes each song got and the percentage it recieved. From the List, it looks like 21 number ones in my book of Radiohead.

I know this is about the list of Radiohead songs but… Phoenix FM needs to put the times they are going to be playing over the continents of each country… In USA and America its one day behind and 8 hours behind(Pacific Standard Time)… If they want to be heard around the world and anounce their station… Than keep us informed than just the information needed if I was in your back yard! Such Arses or you shites or whatever you guys say to get someones attention. I would love to hear Radiohead and even promote your station but I have no clue when you’re playing the List and went to your website and am lost.

Good list. Love to see How to Disappear so high…
Would have liked to see some others on there however, specifically more from the bends, like (nice dream), just, planet telex. Also, maybe some b-sides (fog, palo alto…). And finally, where is True Love Waits????

A surprising amount of songs from In Rainbows.

December 9th, 2007
and the surprising amount is ponder on the unfair fact that we just have been given IR. I have not listened to it enough yet - I don’t get how many persons can be so certain about the factthat songs from IR are their favourites.
but it might be because i’m only listening to amnesiac/kid a these days…

nah there’s a lot of songs that are missing from the list. Creep should defo be in top 20.
I also think How to dissapear completely doesnt deserve top 20 let alone no#2

Let’s face it, OK Computer is their best album. Every song is a classic. So, the fact that there are a lot of songs from that album should not be surprising. I’m very glad Pyramid Song was in the top five, that’s my number 1. I’m kind of surprised at Lucky, as it’s one of the weaker ones on that disc…I feel that My Iron Lung, Optimistic, and Bodysnatchers should have made it…maybe even Sail to the Moon. But, let’s face it, Radiohead, other than Pablo Honey, have yet to make one bad song. Just one. (Okay, India Rubber is a tad annoying…)
To the person dissing Let Down and Street Spirit…those songs are both classsics, and even if you don’t like them, it’s common knowledge that they are fan favorites (and Street Spirit was a chart hit), so their inclusion shouldn’t be surprising.

Great list, would be hard to go wrong
really. I would have preferred more
old stuff, though. ‘Stop Whispering’
as the first political Radiohead song!
And ‘True Love Waits’ too, power in its
simplicity like so much of the new
album. Best wishes. Bill

Pretty good list, would like to see the one, two power house from the Bends that is Just and My Iron Lung and also Like Spinning Plates. Never really understood the appeal of How to Disappear, personally I think Pyrimid Song is much better.

Very good list. My only surprise is Let Down being so high on the list. I like the song, I just didn’t know so many other people liked it. The top 2 are perfect, and those who don’t like HTDC, can simply disappear.
