Thom Yorke on Big Fat Quiz Of The Year
Thom Yorke made an appearance on the Big Fat Quiz Of The Year tonight. The Quiz, broadcast annually on Channel 4 in the UK, is hosted by Jimmy Carr and reviews the last year.
One of the questions was ‘What was special about Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ release. Thom Yorke asked the question himself and it turned out to be one of the hilarious parts of the show. Lily Allen, who had previously criticised the ‘pay-what-you-want’ model (”Radiohead are arrogant“) was in the panel and had her say again…
Thom Yorke stated earlier that Lily Allen’s comments didn’t make much of an impression with the band.

She is in fact a mockney, like the countless other acts that have of come out of London recently. These imitators are the polar opposite to cockneys who are of the working classes. She is in fact a very well off and extreamly privileged, going to the some of the top schools in the UK.

What a sad, unimaginative little juvenile Lily Allen is. Earlier last year I gave her the time of day, until I quickly realised she could’nt sing. Now, it seems, she not only lacks any performance skill, but is devoid of any intellect.

Thom on the “Big Fat Quiz” made me laugh so hard. He’s so bizarre which is great!
This clip however has skipped a bit that Allen said. As far as I can remember she also said - “it wasn’t the music” in answering the question ‘what was special about in rainbows’.

Lily Allen is such a moron. She obviously doesn’t really care about the issue at all. If she did, she’d know what Radiohead had to say about the “pay what you want” idea. They had no such ambitions of being role models. As usual, much of the media and fandom (including myself) read too much into it. They just were experimenting and had no delusions of grandeur; that was the rest of us projecting vicariously through them.
