Radiohead to play ‘Coachella - East’?
For the past week there have been rumours of Radiohead headlining an East coast version of Coachella in New Jersey.
URB reports that a high -level source confirmed Portishead to headline this year’s Coachella festival on Saturday night, according to a high-level source. The same source unequivocally denied rumors that Radiohead would appear at Coachella, but did confirm that the group would play the East Coast festival being planned by Coachella promoters Goldenvoice/AEG Live.
New York Times reported earlier this week that the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California will stage a three-day event in Liberty State Park, according to people briefed on the plans. The new festival, tentatively scheduled for August 8-10, will have Radiohead and Jack Johnson as rumoured headliners on which representatives for AEG declined to comment.
If all of the above goes ahead, it will be the first time in seven years for Radiohead to play Liberty State Park. The band played two headlining shows in August 2001 at the park in New Jersey.

Honestly A Festival that has Raiohead is goinf to is worth going to however the fact that the second biggest headliner is Jack Johnson blows. He’s great BBQ music but not festival music. Seriuosly if Jack Johnson is the Second biggest person there, the rest of the people would have to suck balls.

so what about jack johnson- they headlined the v festival over here in the uk a couple years back- If you have a problem with jack johnson check out the rest of the v festival lineup that year….
Anyway (good) festivals are meant to have something for everyones tastes- its part of the fun

Ok he may have been a headliner but who else was, Im just saying it probably be better to see them at a normal venue in either New York or Boston and The go to Vineland that weekend where the line-up is supposedly much stronger.

not sure about this… the recommendations from the oxford environmental consultancy group discouraged radiohead from playing large festivals… maybe they’ve gone against the green recommendations… its all speculative

To quote Colin’s post on DAS: “To help achieve better results, we’re trying to play as many shows as possible in city centres because of their better transport links.” If they play this Coachella-East and Lollapalooza they are in the city centers of NY-NJ and Chicago.

This is 100% true.
See you in Liberty State Park.
The Festival will also have a different name than “Coachella East,” but it isnt that exciting of a name.

take it for what it’s worth - everyone’s got a source, after all. but my source is a very high up dude in the concert world, and according to him, this is on. i hadn’t even read about it here or in the times; i just had lunch with my friend and he knows i’m a r’head head and he said ‘hear about the liberty shows?’ it’s the same weekend, by the way, as the virgin fest in baltimore and the new south jersey rock fest from the voodoo/veegoose people. should be interesting.

correction. the south jersey festival (vineland) is being put on by the lollapalooza/glastonbury people, not the veegoose/voodoo people. my apologies.

Hope this isn’t true. Festivals suck. Too many people, too expensive, lots of crappy bands and your favorites play shorter sets.
I challenge anyone who saw the band at Wamu@MSG in 2006 to say they are excited about this if they skip out on NYC.
