Radiohead and Amplive agree on release remix project

Posted on February 13th, 2008.

After a cease & desist put the breaks on Amplive’s Radiohead In Rainbows remix project, the online music community reasonably wondered if the tracks would ever see the light of day. Today comes an answer: they most definitely will.

While the Oakland producer/DJ acknowledges that he probably should have contacted Radiohead (who were not involved in the project) to seek approval prior to making his interpretations publicly available, an agreement has been reached between all involved parties and Amplive has been granted permission to release Rainydayz Remixes for free to the general public.

Rainydayz Remixes is composed exclusively of source material pulled from In Rainbows, re-envisioned by Amplive and complimented by vocal work from Too $hort, MC Zumbi of Zion I, Chali2na of Jurassic 5, Codany Holiday, and Del The Funky Homosapien. The highly-anticipated Del track is a hiccupping take on the devastatingly gorgeous, album-closing “Videotape.”

The full album is available for download here.

Why are these remixes geting so much attention? They suck, bigtime.

I’m surprised that he didn’t figure out a way to work a “z” into “All I Need”.

Yeah they’re rubbish. You certainly couldn’t charge for them.

Harsh - they’re perfectly surpassable with plenty o’ novelty value. And Charli2na’s on it!

omg, Nudez is the worst interpretation of a song I have ever come across. It’s been butchered beyond belief.

Yeah, All I Need simply begs to be retitled “All I Needz”.

Just listened to them… they were kind of boring. Good effort though, I like J5 and Del.

These are like parodies of remixes.

i didn’t like the intro, and there are some moments there that are just plain irritating..

but overall i think the remixes are pretty good. i like that he was trying to do something different with the tunes.
the remix of Videotape is probably the best of the batch.

yeah i thought they were well done for a batch of remixes. i’ve heard so much worse…i thought some of the experimentation (on All I Needz) was nice to hear.

They should have called it All I Needz or Allz I Need. That would be hilarious.

Video Tapez is ok, the rest isn’t - maybe because Videoptape is the best song Radiohead ever made. Impossible to screw up.

Ughh…Cease & desist. Please.
I’m listening to these remixes right now…and they are just plain lousy. Some I’d even call quite Amateur. And at best, they’re just plain dull.
Videotapez would be the highlight…but that light still isn’t so bright.
This was definitely not worth the wait.

they really aren’t that bad. works as well as it could have. of course radiohead fans are too elitist to really enjoy it.

A waste of Chali 2na and Del’s talents, and hardly befitting of the original songs. Pass.

Video Tapez is going to be a big hit in Paris, don’t worry. And in Amsterdam. We’ll have to explain that Thom Yorke wrote the song. Thom Yorke knows this. That’s why there’s an agreement. There are all kinds of Christian explanations, who cares. We all love Jesus don’t we. We all hate him. Actually we don’t care. Let’s be sort of proud that our hero etc. He must hate this.

im not too elitist to enjoy it, ive got more hip hop records and 12s than radiohead ones.

the intro, all i need, and faustz aren’t that great, but i don’t know what kind of stick y’all got up your butt on this board.

every other track is pretty freaking enjoyable. the raps are a little naff sometimes, but the actual remixes are generally awesome. you guys take yourselves way too seriouslee. you’re probably the people who’ll bitch about IR on the boards and then listen to it when no one else is around. a good hook is a good hook, a good beat is a good beat. don’t make it more complicated than that.
