‘House Of Cards’ in NBA Play-offs promo

Radiohead’s ‘House Of Cards’ has been used in a promo video for the NBA Play-Offs.

‘House Of Cards’ is the new single in the USA, at least when it comes to radio promo. The song from Radiohead’s latest album can now be heard in a promotion video for the NBA Basketball league play-offs in the USA. Watch the video, entitled ‘There Can Only Be One: Nash/Kidd below:

Wow… never expected to hear Radiohead music used in a commercial… hmmm.

  • mjd180 (continued)

There is still no proof that a radio promo for HOC exists! Where is this information coming from?

  • me

    yikes.

  • hpgirl

i really haven’t seen this on tv at all…..

    oh well,who fucking cares.

  • hpgirl

oh,and i know some will say “oh no,their are becoming commercialized!” well, for one, their songs have been used in various documentaries( i.e. the one Jonathan Ross mentioned), and on stupid shows on MTV for just a second…

anyway, like i said…who cares, it’s not the end of the world.

    ;D

I like those commercials, very simple, effective. Hearing Radiohead is an added bonus.

Not very suprising, the player on the left,
Steve Nash, has confessed being a huge
Radiohead fan. So he probably had something
to do with HOC being used.

Radiohead have officially sold out. I am disapointed. Which NBA team do you think they support? Bullshit.

the version of the ad airing on U.S. TV has another song in it, not House of Cards.

  • hpgirl

Dim Sum, get a life, they haven’t sold out.

  • mastermind

if he was a hypocrite, their music would be on a car ad, which he said he didn’t want…this is a promo that’ll be off in a month…and i think they already changed it on tv, since RH might not have approved…for ads, they need consent of RH so they can get money…for something like this, they don’t need consent..which means no money…( i read this on another forum….they might be wrong) but still, this isn’t an ad…they aren’t helping to sell anything…

plus, since they don’t have the rights to older music, EMI does, their might be an uproar here when they use, lets say, Paranoid Android for a car ad…due to the fact that Radiohead doesn’t have the rights to older music….

this bugs me, don’t get ur dick in a knot everytime Radiohead doesn’t do something up to ur standards. because most of the times, it happens without them knowing…i.e. this “promo” is just in the US…

    ok, sorry about the rant
    :D
