Moby covers Creep again, now on piano

We’ve reported on Moby’s cover versions of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ in the past: On Conan, Festivals and other live shows. But he did it once again, but now with a different take.

Moby played a secret gig for Belgian radio station Studio Brussel and played two covers Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire’ and Radiohead’s ‘Creep’. His version of the song is more of a piano lounge version. No, not the Richard Cheese one. Have a listen over at Radiohead: Live in Charlotte [live report] – 2008

Why does everyone cover “Creep”? There are far better Radiohead songs to cover.

Am I not a “true” radiohead fan cause I still like creep? Because I still like Pablo Honey. Or am I an obsessed fan because I listen everything from faithless the wonder boy to 4 minute warning?

My favorite cover of Creep is Richard Cheese’s:

      Spoken:
You know folks, I was talking with my honey the other day, my Pablo Honey, I said to her, I said, “Pablo Honey”, I said, I said, “You go to my head…my Radiohead.”
      OK Computer!

      Sung:
      When you were here before
I couldn’t look you in the eye.
      You’re just like an angel.
      Your skin makes me cry.

      You float like a feather
      In a beautiful world.
      I wish I was special.
      You’re so frickin’ special.

      But I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo
What the heck am I doing here?
      I don’t belong here.
      No, no, no, no!

      Whatever makes you happy
      Whatever you want
      You’re so very special
      I’ll have that special

      But I’m a creep, I’m a weirdo
What the heck am I doing here?
      I don’t belong here.

      I’m a creep, I’m a nutjob
What the hell am I doing here?
      I don’t belong here…
      I don’t belong here.

Fitter, happier, more productive, comfortable, not drinking too much, a pig in a cage on antibiotics!

      Thank you!

To address the original askers query… If you check out Moby’s first cover of “Creep” at Glastonbury 2003, he states that one of the other bands asked all of the bands to cover this song in their set. Possibly Radiohead, but more than likely R.E.M. was the band that asked everybody to do so. Stipe wanting to give a nod to Yorke.
