Thom did say that Jigsaw was a bitch to play live. Not surprised it’s seldom been seen yet (and that i’ve soundchecked it four times).

i wish they’d drop the HTTT songs, with a few notable exceptions: there there, 2+2=5, the gloaming, wolf, myxo…the “in rainbows” songs are so much more interesting

Yes it was Jonny… what an unbelievable night from the boys. Although it was an absolute mess getting out of the VZW Amphitheater, the show was perfect. Loved hearing STTM and Telex (both were surprises to me) and also the way Thom utilized the screen during “You and Whose Army” was phenomenal. “Videotape” is a beautiful song and was spectacular live as well. He used the phrase “Cool beans” on three separate occasions tonight and as the first encore started, he used the sometimes familiar “Hello. We’re Radiohead. Pleased to meet you.”
It rained for about a third of the show and there was some crazy lighting as well… but honestly it added a little to the show as the sky had a reddish haze to it all night long.
Just a great great night that I will never forget.

what’s with only the new stuff. why can’t I ever hear ‘Karma Police’. new is great but why can’t they remember where they came from? Get out of the parking lot and go home.

May 10th, 2008
Also the superhero talk started with Thom mentioning that Ed could be Batman… “I would be… Spiderman” and after a decently long pause… “Jonny would be Catwoman,” which led to the aforementioned scratching gesture.
Jason
May 10th, 2008
meko…to be honest….they closed the show i saw them on the last tour with karma police…and as much as i love that song i don’t think it was one of the highlights of the show. like it would be sweet if they played it but they have soo many better live songs.
dc
May 10th, 2008
I really wanted to hear “Karma Police,” but honestly I have fifteen or twenty live recordings of it and many of the other classics they passed on last night. It was nice to hear some songs I had not heard live before… but I definitely understand that point as well. The show felt unique with some of the choices, which really made it even that much more special in terms of an overall ambiance the night created.
Jason
May 10th, 2008
dc, i still don’t get it. if they can’t play the studio songs live…can they really play? are the ‘live’ stage songs really better, or just all they muster up infront of an audience.
meko
May 10th, 2008
My opinion on that would be similar to Ed’s comment that they would be heading back to the studio as soon as the tour was over to keep things fresh with brand new songs… I would not doubt they have played a lot of that stuff to death. I was ecstatic they broke out “Talk Show Host” as well… but I made the statement before they started that Thom could walk out and tell us what they would have played, played nothing, and it still would have been amazing… to me it’s the one act where no matter what is played, it was a great choice. Blind bias perhaps, but it’s a wonderful thing sometimes.

The catwoman thing was when Thom sat at his drumset and said that instrument changes were like costume changes, and that ed could come out as batman, he could be spiderman, etc.
Also, they dedicated sail to the moon (”maybe you’ll be president”) to “the fine people of North Carolina and that guy Obama,” if I heard correctly. Thom said something before that that I couldn’t make out.

It was a great concert but not worth the hype that has been leading up to it. I was in college when their ‘classics’ were out and it was hard to not hear any of them tonight. It felt like a McDonalds Happy Meal without the toy.

It was amazing! The rain clouds, lightning in the distance, and then, if you were paying attention and in the lawn, during Bodysnatchers a shooting star bolted across the sky dead center with the stage. It was far beyond magical. Hopefully someone can back me up on that.

Terrible, terrible venue. Sound quality was poor. Considering the band’s politics, I find it odd that they allow themselves to booked into these places. I had a great big Verizon Wireless sign shining in my face the whole time. (After I made my way through the Hardees Thickburger Boxoffice). I had a twelve dollar budweiser and refrained from purchasing a $40 T-shirt. If you’re serious at all about music and have bad seats don’t bother. Left early to beat the traffic.

I think what’s more amazing than the ‘light show’ is watching the videos on YouTube. I’ve only found 2 so far, and you can hear everyone under the pavilion talking… during the songs. But if you listen closely enough, you can hear the lawn singing in the background. Proof of where the real fans are…

I really hated the fact they didn’t use the two screens to the sides of the stage. We were sitting on the far side of the seating area and could not see much.

Bangers & Mash is a SICK ass song and they should feel silly for leaving it off the proper In Rainbows disc. That one drops bombs. It’s a great segue from that into Bodysnatchers too. Great way to end the set. Myxamatosis was insane and a lot of fun to dance to. I was really glad they played Where I End & You Begin again last night. I think that’s my new favorite.

fucking depressing man. i love radiohead, and i loved the show, the visuals were great, but i guess i didn’t realize how it was gonna effect the crowd. most everybody seemed either spun out of their minds or in too deep of an emotional state. everywhere was that blank stare… it really depressed me. but the fact that the music had that sheer power on 20,000 people is just remarkable. sometimes i just wish they’d brighten up the music a little…

for anyone who cares….I witnessed my first ever Radiohead show last night in Charlotte….and though they played for over two hours….it seemed to flash before me so quickly that I am having a difficult time remembering every amazing detail of the show…..truly astonishing…….every song kicked live….Bangers N’ Mash, Bodysnatchers, There There, Talk Show Host, and Paranoid Android where unbelievable…..and yes….the lightning before and during the first part of the show added to atmosphere………….simply stunning……..the visuals were just amazing………the greatest show I have ever witnessed….If death were to knock at my door this very moment…I would die happy………

I recokon to keep everyone happy here, RH have to play every song they have ever recorded, and their b sides too!
I have itunes and according to version 4.7.2541, all of RH would amount to 6 hours 12 minutes and 3 seconds.
Of course, we can’t assume they will play every song with exactly the sme lenght as the CD copy but this does give us some idea of how long the gig would be.
Now the question - what order to play them in?
Chronological, alphabetical or even random???
Decisions, Descisions, decisions.

My first Radiohead show. Fucking awesome. Not much to say that hasn’t been said already. But I’ve got to put in a word for Phil Selway, who is one of the best drummers playing today. Can’t imagine Radiohead without him. Superb setlist. I can’t imagine a better way to end the night than Paranoid Android and Reckoner. Thank you, Radiohead. Please come back soon.
