No, it’s not a webcast. AtEast used the same image during the pre-In Rainbows tour. It just means they’re waiting for text messages of the setlist from an AtEaser who volunteered to send them as it’s happening.

are we sure it’s actually “The Rip” that they’re soundchecking, and not just them playing jamming around with Arpeggi a bit…I can understand how they could be confused.

funny to watch the commentary on the setlists. i was at the tampa show a few weeks back, and I’d love to see them again, any setlist would do. it’s always great to hear some of your true “favorite” songs, but I’m always just happy for the opportunity to see the live.

anyone know what time their soundcheck is?

kristopher
May 18th, 2008

[...] this time they chose 15 Step to begin their show (a better choice, a stronger track). According to AtEase the band soundchecked Portishead’s new hit “The rip” for a second time. [...]

Yeah nothing like screaming the ice age is coming at the end of a concert. I was kind of shocked that we didn’t get the likes of Just, Paranoid Android, or Fake Plastic Trees but we did get a pretty great set last time. And it didn’t matter because the whole set was superb. Amazing concert, makes you realize just how they have to pull from song wise and still put on a great show.

I was at the St. Louis show and now after seeing this I wish I was here instead! This set kicks the St. Louis shows ass!!!

Also I don’t understand what they are doing this tour. They get the crowd so built up with energy like 5x and then throw slow songs in between. Maybe that is what some want but to me it effected the show in St. Louis.

I just posted a handful of videos from the show, this was an incredible set list and performance, better than when I saw them in Tampa IMO

May 18th, 2008

hey where’s the report for the dallas show???

hunting bears
May 19th, 2008

i was at this show.
they also soundchecked The Gloaming and either a totally new song or cover. i didn’t recognize it. i’m not talking about The Rip - i have th ePortishead album. at the very end of the soundcheck Thom was playing this slow mellow song alone on guitar.

i was only disappointed because this is my third show at the Woodlands and the only new songs were the In RAinbows tunes (the whole album) and Planet Telex and Optimistic. it would have been an incredible first show though, i just wanteed to hesongs i hadn’t heard live before - they’ve been playing tons on the prior dates already.

That show was so awesome.

Just wish they would have played either Karma Police of Paranoid Android.

But it was awesome

Enjoyed this show just a tad bit better than Atlanta, except for our seats. Unfortunately we were in the right section toward the back and in the outside 3 seats, so we couldn’t see the video screen at all. I was hoping w.a.s.t.e. would get us better seats than that, but I guess not. Oh well. I did get to hear a couple of songs tha t we didn’t hear in ATL. Glad we went to both.

PLANET TELEX was awesome. I loved the variety of the set and IMO they sound better than ever. had the time of my life, best whow i can get…

i wish someday y could get to se How To Disappear live

May 19th, 2008

Diana, if you’re asking if that was me. Nope, it wasn’t. I don’t own a blackberry. And I was too busy singing and dancing to play with a blackberry. I did take my phone out toward the beginning to take a picture, but I have no zoom, so I quickly decided to not even worry about it and just have a good time.

Just want to say that I was at the Houston show, and it was amazing. The set was great. They sounded awesome. The visual was awesome. …All thesse crazy hanging cylinders of lights - & the big screen behind them looked like a produced & edited music video, but it was all just different angles of what was happening right in front of us. GREAT show!!!

[...] Yes, that title is from a Radiohead song, which is meant to say that I saw their brilliant performance last week at the (mouthful) Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion in Houston. I should write at length on the matter, but really, what is there to say about the act? You can find the setlist at ateaseweb. [...]

I was the guy with the giant balloon hat at this gig. Absolutely mind blowing!
