They fell asleep as in they fell asleep during the show? If not they must feel pretty stupid missing a Radiohead show because they were asleep in their tent or something!

@Daseiender: Can you tell us a few songs they played then? I heard they played some that they haven’t played on this tour yet. Not sure how true that is though

  • Daseiender

The songs are all there (they just played for 1h 45min, only one encore) but the order isn´t right, except for some in the begging and the last two. Hope this helps.

  • trojanpony

sweet encore but otherwise weak and short.

  • trojanpony

p.s. by weak i don’t mean bad songs, just nothing super unusual. optimistic has gotten some play on this tour. i don’t think they’ve played there there too much though, am i wrong? so i guess that’s kinda cool.

  • buymorestufftoweighmedown

I think they’ve played There There at the vast majority of shows.

  • trojanpony

oh yeah, ur right. they didn’t play it at my show though and i guess i never really noticed it on the setlists. so nevermind then, crappy setlist…lol

And the Motorcycle Emptiness is not a bad comment for BRMC, it’s just a joke for them and the fact that Motorcycle Emptiness is a song from the Manic Street Preachers…

  • luigi

Anyone can answerme WHY THERE IS NO VIDEO of THIS CONCERT IN YOUTUBE, please send mail to: soyonsvrais@hotmail. Someone know something (i mean in all concert you can’t but “”"we do”"”), why in this one there is no video? Personally i hated the people who go on this concert to take videos or fotos, but if there is something in the net i have to see it as a Radiohead lover…What RADIOHEAD think about the audience? I’m sure they’re not going to say that they hate fans…, but do they love to play behind all this people who doesn’t matter about the music and are only there to say to they’re friend that they was there there? PLEASE CONTEST PLEASE CONTEST PLEASE CONTEST… love

  • Luther blissett

The show was Super Duper. I was wondering were the fireworks on purpose?

  • Luther blissett

Luigi go to w.a.s.t.e there is and will be more footage (from me…) soon

  • Justin B

Radiohead is my fav…but that was mean Thom. BRMC is having a hard enough time with the departure of their drummer. Then they get the unfortunate slot parallel to radiohead. Poor dudes.

  • ed

Thom actually said ‘Hello we’re the Black Rebel Motorcycle Engine’. The stages at Southside were far too close together but BRMC finished half an hour into Radiohead’s set. The fireworks were let off by some nutters very near us during Idioteque – I don’t think I’ve seen a hole appear in a crowd so quickly. Great weekend if you’ve never been to a festival in Europe I’d highly recommend either Belfort or Southside.

  • Gareth

I’m sure Thom said ‘Black Motorcycle Engineers Club’ or something like that. Great set although would have been nice to see some less well known stuff in there too. All in all a pretty ‘safe’ festival set…

  • Jon

Ed is right about what Thom said. Southside was an awesome festival (if not a little bit too hot for my liking), and, for me at least, Sigur Ros and Radiohead back to back was pure bliss. The guys with the fireworks were totally mental, but it looked like they were doing it safe with a launcher at least. There were people in the campsite wish semi-professional firework rigs (proper launchers for like 30+ fireworks) but i think they were getting confiscated.
Oh, and for a festival i was very happy with the choice of songs Radiohead played.

  • ed

Jon: you’re so right – Sigur Ros followed by Radiohead I’d go to hell to see. But I was slightly disappointed that Sigur Ros didn’t play Untitled #8 (with the rear projections) like I described to everyone I was with who hadn’t see them before. Also, Southside commanders an airport so the topography is pretty flat (and the German people seem to be a little taller than most other Europeans) which didn’t help. Overall, contrary to my previous comment I would recommend Belfort above Southside. I saw Radiohead there in 2003 I think (may have been 2004) and if you’re planning a European festival I would say go to Belfort. The main stage is in a natural bowl which makes viewing from any point really good and the sound system kicks Southside’s arse with ease (my ears are still ringing from Daft Punk’s set there last year). We didn’t go there this year because the line up at Southside was far better (with Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Foo Fighters and The Chemical Brothers being the main pull). However, like most festivals it’s the things you don’t expect that turn out to be the best: Paul Heaton (ex Beautiful South/Housemartins) was incredible on the Saturday in front of only about 300 people (everyone else escaping from the heat). Also, Rodrigo y Gabriela blew me away (check them out on youtube please) – incredibly raw talent on full display (with no effect-pedal-safety-net)- I’d probably follow them to hell as well. As Bill Hicks put it: I’d prefer to be in hell as that’s were all the good music will be…

  • jeanette

so…just curious. did BRMC actually lose its crowd when radiohead came on? is that what the alleged comment by thom was about? wasn’t there but want to know.
