Unbelievable, relentless attack on the band from EMI. Just a massive disappointment for such a huge company to be acting in such a childish, and greedy manner. It makes me feel sad and just as disappointed for the artists that are still with EMI. It’s ways like this in which record companies operate that lead people to abandon buying CDs, and going down the pirate downloading route. Just they don’t seem to get that.

@Ryan

Oh come on, what do you expect.

And by the way, re-releasing Vinyl Albums on Heavy Vinyl is a great thing to do. They should do it for all great bands.

Two potential problems:
-”releasing classic albums on vinyl under the name ‘From the Capitol Vaults” - we could have that plastered all over the record and art work.
- I’m always cynical about Remasters, especially from a big label such as EMI, it might be another case of compress compress compress, its louder, people will think it sounds better. Will have to wait and see.

It was nice to have the Radiohead “Best Of” DVD.

The “7 Television Commercials” collection left an aweful lot left to be desired. I mean, it didn’t even have the Creep video!

I’m thankful

What difference does it make if theyre releasing this? If it’s such a bad thing then nobody should buy it.

But come on, everybody will. And then they’ll continue to complain.

Its cool…im over it….thats their business and they have to do what they have to do….thank god Radioehad doesn’t need them anymore and they can both operate independently. I’m jumping on the Kid A and OK Computer vinyls for sure.

Regardless of the general opinion of the Best Of CD you’ve got to admit that the DVD and now the vinyl re-releases are welcome. If RH had re-signed with EMI it probably would have happened anyway, just with more band involvement.

Enough with the EMI bashing. They’re a fucking music label. They’re going to release and re-release albums from their bands. Some of you are just unbelievable with your unrealistic view of the world. How the fuck is this hurting the band and how is it greedy? It’s called business, and EMI are one and in the business to make money like every business in the world. I fail to see how this is at “attack” on the band. They have a new album out and are touring. This is the prime time to release material like we’ve been getting. Do you expect EMI to never release a single piece of Radiohead anything ever again. People with these mindsets can go fuck themselves and the leftist pony they road in on.

Agreed. 7 Television Commercials was a good release. But the “Best Of” DVD was an even better release!

As fans I think we deserved it.

The same goes for the Astoria ‘94 DVD. Why on Earth did that take so long to be released? It was an awesome show. And they definitely should have used the footage of “You” and released it as a music video back then. I think it would have helped the album sales and popularity of the band at that time. They wouldn’t have been the band simply known as “that one band that does Creep.”

”releasing classic albums on vinyl under the name ‘From the Capitol Vaults’ - we could have that plastered all over the record and art work.”

This is fine with me–it will help collectors retain some of the value of original pressing.

“I’m always cynical about Remasters, especially from a big label such as EMI, it might be another case of compress compress compress, its louder, people will think it sounds better. Will have to wait and see.”

It’s vinyl, so I don’t think this will be an issue. You can push the loudness on vinyl in the same way that you can on CD.

Regarding Kid A being out of print, none of the albums are out of print. I work at a record store and ordered them all through our regular distributor a couple of months ago. Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief were pretty pricey (over $20 cost), but Kid A was $13.99

It depends on whether these are mastered at half speed from the original tapes and pressed on virgin vinyl. If not, what’s the point? Decent pressings of these albums are already available from record stores and Ebay.
Some of the other albums in this series are currently available from audiophile labels (Hendrix - Classic Records, Lennon - MFSL). I fear these will be a cheaply made cash in: which is a shame and a lost opportunity. I hope I’m wrong.

Will Kid A AND Amnesiac remain in 10″ format?Does anyone know?

Scott
July 15th, 2008

kid a and amnesiac will be in 10″ format, all of the original artwork will be intact. i have a feeling that the original copies will retain much or all of their value. i tried to pre-order the whole lot of them from insound, they were already sold out of their allotment of kid a and amnesiac so i had to get those elsewhere. for the record, no pun intended, i already own some of the old records, but the chance to get new copies for listening pleasure was too good to pass up. i hope a tasteful box set of rarities is coming soon.
