no 15 step????

August 7th, 2008

yeah no 15 Step is weird. Maybe whoever is sending setlist updates left it out? They probably opened with it.

A little short.

I would freakin’ love to see Kid A played in Camden

Where’s Fake Plastic Trees? Another texter included it on the set list.

Wow, great show. In my opinion maybe the best set of this leg of the tour, and I was at Lolla and Blossom. I’m jealous they played Like Spinning Plates. I would have liked to see You and Whose Army? at one of the shows I was at, but I’m still looking forward to Toronto so my fingers are crossed…

just came back from the show. they definitely played fake plastic trees by the way. a killer setlist, very in rainbows-heavy of course, but the songs worked seamlessly. idioteque was incredible, and the nearby fireworks totally made thom laugh/fuck up during faust arp. beautiful.

oh yeah, and there was a rainbow right before they went on. take that.

I just came back from the show. It was a STELLAR gig. Best concert ever! By the way, they’ve also played Fake Plastic Trees between The National Anthem and Reckoner if my memory serves me right…

Fake Plastic Trees was performed just after The National Anthem

August 7th, 2008

Sorry for the redundant info about Fake Plastic Trees, almost simultaneous posts (I’m still too excited). Also for completeness’ sake, I think they’ve sound checked Optimistic twice.

GreenChemist
August 7th, 2008

^^ they soundchecked optimistic about 1.5 times, not a whole 2 times. they also soundchecked “where i end and you begin”, and some new song (or maybe a cover) before everything else. i definitely didn’t recognize it (it wasn’t super collider), and it sounded like it was probably an original song. sounded pretty “bendsy” and also a bit fast paced like arpeggi. they didn’t seem to play the whole thing.

The show was amazing!!! Soooo many people and soooo much mud! Glad I wore my rubber boots!

After Thom laughed/messed up in Faust Arp (which I managed to catch on video!) he changed the last word of a line to ‘fireworks’. :)

Fantastic set list, great performance… got to stand by Win from Arcade Fire for most of the show. :D

This show was Awesome… Best show i’ve ever seen. The Rainbow just before the show was nice. The only one I personally think was missing out there was The Bends.

A GREAT show!!

August 7th, 2008

I am ridiculously jealous of the poster who was standing by Win.

Did he seem to be into it? I’ve been noticing a lot of Arcade Fire + Radiohead connections recently. At least everytime Montreal is brought up in relation to Radiohead that is.

ParkaPal
August 7th, 2008

FYI Adrian:

During Faust Arp Thom stopped singing and laughed aloud at the incessant fireworks.

They attempted the “Hunting bears” ending to National Anthem… but it didn’t go so well and was aborted.

Bodysnatchers had a semi-false start and the whole song was subsequently a bit off…

and they played Fake Plastic Trees as well… I don’t see it on there.

ALSO… My first Radiohead show ever… and the best set-list imaginable!

Bon!

The first song of the soundcheck is also missing: it was New Order’s Ceremony.

Um…. Fake Plastic Trees should definitely be on there somewhere.

Steven
August 7th, 2008

As for the fireworks, I was in montreal a few weekends ago and apparently they do it every few nights or something like that during the summer. The convention I was at actually had an event where people went up on the roof to watch the fireworks :)

can’t wait until molson!!

Fantastic show - Nikita and I were standing amongst most of the Arcade Fire - Nikita was over by Win (tall man stands out), and I think I saw Wil and a few others about. Cool that they were keeping a low profile and were just there to see the show. “And they did play “Fake Plastic Trees”, though I can’t remember at which point in the set). Thanks for the setlist!

yep. Fake Plastic Trees was played.
and wasn’t it when Thom got distracted by the fireworks and slipped on the lyrics?

and what’s the song where he mentioned the fireworks?

They played Fake Plastic Trees after Reckoner.

ParkaPal - Win, Will, and Richard Parry were there. May have been others but I’ve never seen any of them up close so I’m not sure. :) Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Win and Richard certainly didn’t have a problem seeing right over the crowd.

August 7th, 2008

Anyone knows what was playing before the show..there was one particular track that lasted a good 20 minutes..it was an electronic track that sounded like a cross of William Basinski’s Disintegration Loops and Gas..It was one of the first tracks on the playlist(a playlist probably made by Thom because it all sounded like the kind of music he’d like)

Thanks

Rami
August 7th, 2008

between #9 & 12 the activities are the opposite..the fireworks went on while Jigsaw played, johnny was explaining to thom what the noise was and caused Thom to chuckle in the middle of singing it. :P

August 7th, 2008

I think Thom played a bar or two of Super Collider before EIIRP. Did anyone else notice that?

Eric
August 7th, 2008

At 18, I think Thom actually joked “We’ve paid all this money for fireworks, the least they could do is put them at the fucking end!”

Absolutely awesome by the way nearly a full 2 hours of live Radiohead.

It looked like they enjoyed themselves as much as the 35000 of us watching did!

August 8th, 2008

That show was simply amazing, the sound , the light everything. Also, that night was the end of big fireworks contest. Hopefully, the rain stopped almost as soon as Radiohead hit the stage. So we had Radiohead playing outside in front of 35000 people and a fireworks show ! What a night !!! Viva Radiohead !

Alex
August 8th, 2008

Yep, Fake Plastic Trees is missing from that list. Kid A was sound check only, In Limbo wasn’t played. Settle down people, haha.

What an amazing fucking show. Worth going across the country to experience. I can’t say whether this was better than the Vancouver ‘03 show or not, but it was at least on par (different sets, equal amount of awesomeness). Can’t wait for Vancouver, Seattle, and SF.
