2 Quick Questions:

1) Are the following times correct?
Gates: 5:00 PM Show: 6:30 PM
(seems early to me!)

2) Is there a wristband only area or something like this?

Thanks for any input!

ScottF
August 19th, 2008

there doesn’t seem to be a wrist-band area like usual. They called it the zone before. maybe it’s random this time. the last 2 times it was the first batch of tickets that were sold were zone tickets

mix-up the setlist thom…

dont make a liar of phil, he said you had 70 songs ready for this tour!

shomer fucking shabas

neil
August 19th, 2008

i think Phil is safe on the amount of songs they “practiced”…he didn’t say how many of them they would actually play ;)

Now, remember, folks, don’t scream or sing or talk during the fracking songs. Be considerate. Lots of other people who might not have the comfort of friends going to the show with them and who’ve gone alone want to hear the band, not you.

Enjoy the music.

Please stop saying fracking.

bluepencil
August 20th, 2008

Thanks, Tara.

PC, the whole point is that the people making so much noise are the ones who should be listening to CDs at home doing whatever they want. They don’t care to hear the differences. I and (I think) the silent majority too afraid to say something do what to hear those differences.

Like I said, the Montreal show was impeccable in part because I and others got people to be quiet and the venue had great sound quality, unlike Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre, which obviously cares more about getting profits from Rogers than ensuring fans quality listening.

Muldfeld
August 20th, 2008

I meant “do want to hear those differences”

Muldfeld
August 20th, 2008

Come As You Are, Nirvana cover! No wait, it’s Come To Your Senses!! Thom at the piano and there’s some lovely backing vocals from Ed.

mulder, silent majority? who exactly is too afraid to speak on an internet forum?

matt

if those people existed then surely there would be some here?

matt

people shouldn’t cough during concerts either and should breath with their mouths closed

August 20th, 2008

I’m with Muldfeld on this one. I will be seeing Radiohead for the first time next week, and I will be extremely annoyed if people around me talk and sing along during the concert. Hoot and hollering in between songs is okay, but during the songs, not cool.

Scott
August 20th, 2008

Right about now everyone at the concert is going to get that ugly kick in the face that the main set is over….and they know the show will be over much sooner than they would like.

I hated that realization at the Toronto show, though when you know there is two encores usually covering 5-8 songs…it helps ease the pain a bit.

Andrew

i wish i had friends in real life. my brother tells me it’s nice to have friends. but he likes that bloody Coldplay and i fracking hate them.

Muldfeld

Vancouver is getting a number of songs that I really wish they would play in Seattle tomorrow. :(

ergo
August 20th, 2008

Thom seems to be in a better mood tonight, compared to the night in Toronto. I was at that show and he didn’t say a work for the first 17 songs.

at least we got a better setlist.

August 20th, 2008

August 20th, 2008

PA was appropriate for the rain we had tonight.

Chieftain Tony Mews
August 20th, 2008

Bloody good show tonight. They spoiled us with a pair of killer b-sides (i.e. Talk Show Host and Bangers and Mash, the latter with Thom going nuts on the drums).

Hope the band got a good whiff of the BC Bud that went around.

Dom

kelly
August 20th, 2008

In Limbo was soundchecked for at least 10 minutes.

As for the crowd choosing Paranoid Android as the closer, you would definitely had to be there to understand. It was pouring rain and when the “rain down” section came, it was fucking magical.

Victor
August 20th, 2008

I really would have rather heard Idioteque, but PA was pretty brilliant too. I swear it was raining even harder during PA and when he got to “rain down”!

Brilliant show and they played a lot of songs that I thought and wanted to hear :D I’m even happier now that I’ve warmed up finally and showered.

Camy
August 20th, 2008

i think it’s because radiohead shows are just so big, it brings out a certain kind of asshole. like the yankees fan who goes to mets games for the sole purpose of starting a fight. at liberty state park, there was this asshole in front of us the hole show who must have thought everyone came out to see him act like a child, because he made sure that everyone in his vicinity was well aware of his presence. you can’t get away from the singing along unless you’re so close to the pa speakers that you can’t hear the morons around you who came to the concert to listen to themselves sing rather than listen to thom yorke in person. i’ll never figure that out.

mike
August 20th, 2008

Badass set list, and some of Thom’s comments are genius. Also, that’s a lot of Thom speak for one gig. Nice.

buymorestufftoweighmedown

Hey guys I’ve realized how much of a social retard I was so I shapened up and now I am Mudfeld v2. I still am a social retard, but I’ve learned to shut the fuck up about it because it couldn’t be more obvious that my whiny little “intellectual” comments are not taken seriously by anybody but myself. I like to hear myself talk out of my bunghole. Tweetle-tweet.

Seems like this was a really awsome show. Great set list plus Thom seemed to be extra Talkative. Did Thom really let the crowd choose between Paranoid Android and Idioteque?

Danny

Should have been a head zone/fan zone for the fans that bought W.A.S.T.E. tickets… Would have put a stop to the retarded roid-monkey moshing going on in the pit.

Thom’s “Take it easy boys… This isn’t Rage Against the Machine” was pretty good though…

Thom should have said “Choose wisely” a la the knight from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. And then everyone who chose Idioteque would have disintegrated until all that was left were there Nazi rings (Thom: “They chose . . . poorly.”), while those who chose Paranoid Android would be left with a cupful of everlasting life to bring back to their tragically-shot and dying father (”Junior!”).

kurtvonnegutsson
August 20th, 2008

while thom was getting the crowd to choose the final song, i noticed jonny played a riff from a stephen malkmus song for like 4 seconds! awesome

mickd22
August 20th, 2008

There were three people who brought signs to the crowd which was pretty funny cause Thom pointed them out.

A funny part was that one of the signs said “Scott Tenorman must Die!” referring to the South Park episode featuring RadioHead, but Thom said he had no idea who Scott Tenorman was!

Guess he forgot his cartoon fame? lol

Amazing concert! The ticket was birthday present from friends for me as well.

From Morning Bell all the way to Nude it was a bit crazy on the floor. I guess a bunch of people from the back decided to get to the front by force and since it was so tightly packed it meant a whole wave of pushing back and forth. A lot of people, mostly girls decided they had enough and got the hell out of there. Too bad, it took me out of Morning Bell.

I think Thom made the “beep beep” sound in front of Paranoid Android I don’t know if that’s normal or not.

LostInTheAbsurd

The rain was perfect!

August 20th, 2008

Great show. I wished they would have played one more song from The Bends, and dropped the dull, plodding Where I End and the overrated Morning Bell. I’m also a little bit played out on Everything In Its Right Place, to be honest.

However, all 10 songs from the new album were amazing. Stunningly good. 15 Steps was a great opener. The song is OK on the CD, but live it induces goose bumps.

Other highlights included killer versions of National Anthem, Planet Telex, Optimistic, You and Whose Army, 2+2=5, and karma Police.

Ian
August 20th, 2008

That was just unbelievable. The show I’ve ben to, ever, ever. My first time seeing the band. Highlights for me were a stunning Jigsaw, Planet Telex, House of Cards, Rcekoner, @+2 and Talk Show Host!
Thom was so chatty and seemed to be in a good mood. A few idiots in the crowd but Thom dealt with it well. The crowd was way too pushy, thought I was gonna get crushed a few times but it was all worth it.

Whoa. They didn’t play “Idioteque”. I feel kinda bad for everyone who went to this show. I mean, Radiohead’s awesome no matter what they play because ever song is great, but that’s probably the most fun song you could ever hear live. So energetic.

Oh well, you guys still got an awesome setlist :). I’d go for this plus “Street Spirit” and “Idioteque”, and if I had to take out something, I guess “Faust Arp,” and “Morning Bell,” but I’d take anything.

And Muldfield is a fucking idiot. I mean, yeah I hate when people randomly scream during the song, but singing along, everyone screaming at the same time, and other stuff like that is the best part of a concert.

I’m anxious for the 25th, when I see them.
