Radiohead live in Auburn

Posted on August 20th, 2008.

Tonight the band is Auburn to continue the West Coast portion of the North American tour. The eleventh show of the second leg will be held at the White River Amphitheater which is just 35 miles southeast of Seattle. The support for tonight will be Liars.

White River Amphitheater is located in Auburn, Washington, on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation 15 miles northeast of Tacoma and 35 miles southeast of Seattle. It rained off and on all afternoon and managed to clear up moments before the gates opened.

The band sound checked a cover of Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ twice, ‘In Limbo’ twice, ‘Myxomatosis’, ‘You And Whose Army?’ and ‘Morning Bell’.

yeah!!!! they are getting closer to outside lands in San Fran…. 3 more days… nothing like radiohead on some drugs… really hope they bring out some rare b sides(A Reminder, Polyethelene, The Trickster, or Worrywort) or some of of the singles they never play (High and Dry, Knives Out, Street Spirit, Climbing Up the Walls and Let Down) that would be awesome …Seen Creep already 3 times… I’d like to hear You from Pablo Honey too. Or possibly the cover of The Rip by Portishead that they posted up…..DOUBT ANY OF THEM, seeing as how they really aren’t even playing Karma Police this tour.

It’s still gonna be worth it. Radiohead… The beatles of our GENERATION….

After Faust Arp, my Girlfriend yelled “Your my hero!” Thom replied with, “I love you too darling.”
We were pretty much at the very front, one person away from the rail. My first radiohead show. Amazing.

does anyone know what music they have before they took the stage?

burnptcruisers
August 21st, 2008

Half of Kid A!
By the time they were onto Pyramid Song they were unstoppable.
The only low point was the drunk who was also high on x / lsd/ meth kept getting in my face doing his I’m over 30 raver dance. Then talking loudly over Faust A about green and traffic.
So good but is Radiohead capable of putting on a bad show yet?

[...] At Ease has some commentary as part of the setlist thanks to Juliette. [...]

Setlist was great. Saw em the night before in Vancouver. Combined for 50 songs! Only 15 of them repeats, and 9 of the 15 were from A side of In Rainbows which is expected on a new album tour.

The crowd in Seattle was sooo much cooler than the crowd in Vancouver. Notice no “Rage Against the Machine” comments from Thom this time around. White River was also a much better venue than Thunderbird Stadium.

Great set both nights. Could have used a little bit more Hail to the Thief on either night. OK Computer, Kid A, and Amnesiac got great playing time. The Gloaming from HTTT was a nice surprise on account of how much better the song is live than on record. Only 3 HTTT songs from both nights.

Oh well, I can’t complain. Amazing two nights!!! Featured Paranoid Android as a closer in the pouring rain in Vancouver, and a really talk-happy Thom in Seattle.

If you missed this show you will never see Faust Arp as it was meant to be played live. With 2 fuckups, a country-western improv from Thom and Jonny, then Neil Young, then Phil donating a dollar as if Jonny and Thom were panhandlers!

Nigel coming out for In Limbo was great and hearing the word “Seattle” come out of Thom’s mouth was so awesome.

Did anyone notice how when Thom walked off during Everything in it’s Right Place he warmed his hands on the crowd as if to say he really enjoyed all the love the whole night? That was great!

These 2 rainy northwest shows showed me a new Radiohead. I’ve seem em twice in 06 and once in 03 and these latest 2 times the band looked and sounded so happy. So much energy, so much love, so much talking!!!

Loved it. I know this is kinda a review of 2 shows but you would do the same if you saw 50 songs on back to back nights. How can you seperate em???

ghostHORSE
August 22nd, 2008

I agree ghosthorse — a very good night and a good crowd.
My favorite point was when Thom addressed Seattle and the WTO riots and then dedicated ‘you and whose army’ to the city. It wasn’t the dedication that moved me most but the pure silence from the crowd at that point. During the first few minutes of ‘army’ there was not a peep anywhere amongst 20,000 people. It gave me goosebumps.
