Radiohead live in Auburn

Tonight the band is Auburn to continue the West Coast portion of the North American tour. The eleventh show of the second leg will be held at the White River Amphitheater which is just 35 miles southeast of Seattle. The support for tonight will be Liars.

White River Amphitheater is located in Auburn, Washington, on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation 15 miles northeast of Tacoma and 35 miles southeast of Seattle. It rained off and on all afternoon and managed to clear up moments before the gates opened.

The band sound checked a cover of Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ twice, ‘In Limbo’ twice, ‘Myxomatosis’, ‘You And Whose Army?’ and ‘Morning Bell’.

I left before the second encore (Auburn, WA) but these are a few of the songs I remember them playing: 15 step
    reckoner
    optimistic
    there there
    all i need
    pyramid song
    talk show host
    national anthem
    lucky
    climbing up the walls
    jigsaw
    videotape
    nude
-hail to the thief track? with just johnny and thom-
    dollars and cents
    bodysnatchers
    how to dissapear
    wierd fishes
    idoteque
    something from amnesiac/in limbo?
    street spirit

  • the-git
  • PC

Why would you leave before the 2nd encore?

  • spike

I wish people shouted Yay during 15 step at my concert – I was wondering why most people didn’t.

Cool that Nigel appeared. And that whole Faust Arp bit sounds hilarious!

  • Kyle

it seems as if Thom is having more fun on this tour as it goes on.

  • dody

in limbo 4 the first time, I’m so jealous. Some1 had to tape that

  • chauncey

this has got to be the best set so far,
HTDC, CUTW, TSH, In Limbo, Street Spirit,
    wow, WOW

  • Caveman

Last night was awesome! Pyramid and Dollars & Sense! Set list rocked… Venue parking sucked. Can’t imagine the boys would want their ‘green tour’ to be polluted with so much parking headaches and idling around for hours. Talk about your CO2 nightmare!

  • Manu

    Nigel there ?
Any chance he made a soundboard recording of this show ?

  • Scott

Radiohead record all their shows Manu, I’ve even heard they record their soundchecks. : )

  • pearly*

    why don’t the release soundboards?

They also soundchecked a cover of R.E.M.’s “Electrolite” and a cover of “Tell Me Why” by Neil Young. This was a wonderful show.

  • bc

The show was taped. It’ll be on various torrents soon enough.

  • Michael

After Faust Arp, my Girlfriend yelled “Your my hero!” Thom replied with, “I love you too darling.”
We were pretty much at the very front, one person away from the rail. My first radiohead show. Amazing.

  • koip

thom saying “i love you too darling,” has been more common than the in rainbows tracks.

  • http://burnptcruisers.blogspot.com burnptcruisers

does anyone know what music they have before they took the stage?

  • upsetter5001

    Half of Kid A!
By the time they were onto Pyramid Song they were unstoppable.
The only low point was the drunk who was also high on x / lsd/ meth kept getting in my face doing his I’m over 30 raver dance. Then talking loudly over Faust A about green and traffic.
So good but is Radiohead capable of putting on a bad show yet?

  • Angie

man i hope the next radiohead concert i go to is as good as this.

  • justin

i also want to know what album was playing before radiohead took stage last night–it was some bad ass electronic beats and i really wanna get that so i can jam it on my sound system!

  • mike

it was probably modelseeker or whatever that band is that thom loves.

  • mike

if anyone cares I recorded a portion of an unknown song in the soundcheck (unmentioned above) the first song they played. I also got the rip full band. not high quality though.

  • deceasedlavy

wow, i will never waste my time on the first gig of the leg again. i wish i could just quit my job and fly to the west coast.

Setlist was great. Saw em the night before in Vancouver. Combined for 50 songs! Only 15 of them repeats, and 9 of the 15 were from A side of In Rainbows which is expected on a new album tour.

The crowd in Seattle was sooo much cooler than the crowd in Vancouver. Notice no “Rage Against the Machine” comments from Thom this time around. White River was also a much better venue than Thunderbird Stadium.

Great set both nights. Could have used a little bit more Hail to the Thief on either night. OK Computer, Kid A, and Amnesiac got great playing time. The Gloaming from HTTT was a nice surprise on account of how much better the song is live than on record. Only 3 HTTT songs from both nights.

Oh well, I can’t complain. Amazing two nights!!! Featured Paranoid Android as a closer in the pouring rain in Vancouver, and a really talk-happy Thom in Seattle.

If you missed this show you will never see Faust Arp as it was meant to be played live. With 2 fuckups, a country-western improv from Thom and Jonny, then Neil Young, then Phil donating a dollar as if Jonny and Thom were panhandlers!

Nigel coming out for In Limbo was great and hearing the word “Seattle” come out of Thom’s mouth was so awesome.

Did anyone notice how when Thom walked off during Everything in it’s Right Place he warmed his hands on the crowd as if to say he really enjoyed all the love the whole night? That was great!

These 2 rainy northwest shows showed me a new Radiohead. I’ve seem em twice in 06 and once in 03 and these latest 2 times the band looked and sounded so happy. So much energy, so much love, so much talking!!!

Loved it. I know this is kinda a review of 2 shows but you would do the same if you saw 50 songs on back to back nights. How can you seperate em???

  • kelly

I agree ghosthorse — a very good night and a good crowd.
My favorite point was when Thom addressed Seattle and the WTO riots and then dedicated ‘you and whose army’ to the city. It wasn’t the dedication that moved me most but the pure silence from the crowd at that point. During the first few minutes of ‘army’ there was not a peep anywhere amongst 20,000 people. It gave me goosebumps.
