Radiohead are "postmodern"; the Silver Jews are "new sincerity." The "new sincerist" stereotype of postmodernism is that it's gloomy and miserablist. Now, in reality, Radiohead are a pretty mixed bag on that account, so Berman is probably reacting to features of their style that appear to fit the stereotype, not the contents themselves. The guy on the piano is pretty good and hes a cool guy but the lead singer is just awful. He should start a career in yelling a story with words which rhyme at the end because to be honest thats all he did. He yelled and yelled and yelled, its like those songs where the lead takes a break and has a talking part only his whole song was like that. I was sat there wondering , when are these guys gonna start to sing eh? Terrible band and dissing on Radiohead , they gotta take a look at themselves first in my opinion. The only round of applause they got from the whole arena was when they got off stage 'cause everyone was glad to see them go! Because at least I was listening to and appreciating something beautiful. What else can we hold on to but what feels right and something we don't doubt? If you doubt them, then you don't feel them. I know people that don't like The Beatles. What can you do? Can't win em all. Also, what Radiohead does isn't easy. It's all very progressive. They are very inspired people. We should always admire those people. Chances are they see life differently than most musicians. They hold a lot sacred. I was listening to In Rainbows on a
