Popcorn Superhet Receiver returns to London

For those who missed out on hearing Jonny Greenwood’s ‘Popcorn Superhet Receiver’ can hear it where it once debuted at LSO St Luke’s in London.

Popcorn Superhet Receiver premiered in April 2005, performed by the BBC Orchestra. After performances in the USA commissioned by Wordless Music the classical piece will return to St Luke’s on October 10th. The piece will be performed by the London Contemporary Orchestra conducted by Hugh Brunt. Tickets, priced £12, are available through the Barbican website.

for those who have not heard it yet, it is just fantastic. and you can sense the classical-like partitions in radiohead songs better listening to this piece.

i was never in a concert where popcorn… was played, could only listen to it on a radio broadcast. and it was great.

there will be blood soundtrack is also equally fabulous. especially the last track “prospector’s quartet”.

Please lets be honest. This is difficult, jarring music and you would never listen to it if it hadn’t been done by jonny. it may be considered good, but it sucks to listen to. you don’t enjoy it. stop it.

Actually Imago, you may not be aware of this but people do actually like music which isn’t just pop. If you think it is difficult and jarring you obviously haven’t hear much modernist or 20th century classic works.
I don’t like the Bends much, enough said.

I went to this concert last night. It was pretty cool. Some wonderful rhythms being plucked and strumemed on the violins and double bass. Go and see it if you can.
