Radiohead’s ‘15 Step’ in Twilight closing credits

Posted on December 30th, 2008.

twilightRadiohead’s ‘15 Step’ is featured in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Twilight’. The movie, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, topped the movie charts and did very well for Radiohead as well.

Vampire movie Twilight topped the British box office charts and opened the weekend with 2.5 million pounds. In the USA the teen movie made over $70 million in the first weekend. The opening track from Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ is featured in the closing credits. ‘15 Step’ is not included on the album soundtrack (featuring Muse, Perry Farrell and Linkin Park), which resulted in a big boost for the sales on iTunes. ‘15 Step’ is now the top selling track from ‘In Rainbows’, selling more than double compared to the album’s radio singles.

Reckoner would have fit any finishing credits better. Anyways they did the reckoner remix thing so, there goes yet another hit for the band, Great!

I don’t have a problem with new people finding Radiohead. I wouldn’t even have a problem if Radiohead became the favorite band of everyone I know. I DO, however, have a problem with good art (15 Step) being mixed with terrible art. (Twilight)

Andrew Camp – you said it perfectly. My heart sank at the end of that film…as if the muse/baseball scene wasn’t bad enough.

glad to see rhead more avail to the masses. here in the us there are too many ppl that still havent given any albums as real listen. and us radio doesn’t play anything newer than karma puh-leeze. on a contradictory note, 15 step should’ve been a us radio single.

I have yet to see the film or read any
of these books. I need to catch up and
read some of these books because many of
my students are in love with them. I do
know what the story is about but somehow
I don’t see how ‘15 step’ could go well
with the movie. I guess I have to see
it.

The film didn’t have a bad soundtrack actually… Radiohead, Muse, Iron and Wine…

Pity the actual film was a load of old arse.

Also, this clearly wasn’t a label decision, this is the band’s first ever independant release… ‘bit wierd that they approved the use of this song for Twilight of all things…

Why? Why are Radiohead reduced to having their songs feature in a godawful teen vampire film? It baffles me, it really does.

stop being so pretentious. is it really so bad that a movie aimed at teens tried to use some good, quality music? i’m sure it will expand the musical horizons of many teenagers (or whoever sees the film) so why is that so bad? you don’t want to like music that young people like? you want to hold on to radiohead for your own? that just seems kinda silly. i thought 15 step worked well in the credits–most ppl stayed to watch them, and i’m sure that the song had some part in that.
