Radiohead donate MK 1 for Homeless Charity Ad
Radiohead have donated a track from the bonus disc of ‘In Rainbows’ to be used in a homeless charity television ad.
In a new ad campaign, entitled ‘It Can Happen To Anyone’ the Radiohead track MK 1 is used. MK 1 is one of the tracks from the In Rainbows discbox, also know as ‘In Rainbows – Disc 2′. The National Coalition for the Homeless is a USA nationwide network of people who are currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, activists and advocates, community-based and faith-based service providers, and others committed to a single mission.

Homeless people sleep in cars, park benches, some of them walk with no destination, they huddle in doorways, parking garages or alleys. Many of these people are without family while others carry the responsibility of having to look after one.
In the way in which the economy is shaping up to be I’m sure many people we find themselves under different circumstances in the coming years.
Glad to see Radiohead is taking part in raising awareness to such an important issue.

Who would’ve thought… a filler could be used in such a nice way.

For living in a cardboard box, she sure knows how to manage her appearance well.

I’m not impressed. The whole “going backward” device works when there is a surprising beginning of the story. Here we go from eating from a trash can to sleeping in a cardboard box, which is hardly surprising or revelatory. And the music does absolutely nothing here.

James N, I think you missed the point of the ad. “It can happen to anyone.”
I live in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, which has a sizable amount of homeless. Most are awaiting disability benefits (which can take up to years to get, many become homeless and even die waiting). Good on Radiohead for lending some publicity to this tragic issue.

With the ‘All I Need’ cause-commercial, Radiohead is turning into the U2 of 2009. Boring. Irritating. And MK1 is crap.

clever ad. works well with the music too. that second in rainbows cd is well underrated, if you haven’t listened to it you’re missing out.
