Thom Yorke Band – Live at Orpheum Theatre – Night 1
Thom Yorke played the first of two shows at the Los Angeles Orpheum Theater with his newly formed band. The setlist did not get at all unexpected since the warm-up show gave a lot away already.
The band with Thom Yorke, Flea, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco had the same setlist as Friday’s show at the Echoplex, apart from ‘Skirting On The Surface’. However, Thom Yorke threw the song ‘Super Collider’ in, right after ‘Open The Floodgates’. ‘Super Collider’ has been played at a handful of Radiohead shows on their 2008 tour. Thom decicated ‘Paperbag Writer’ to Colin Greeenwood, who was in the audience. ‘Lotus Flower’ was played again, but Thom said he hasn’t deciced on the title yet, could also be ‘Moon Upon A Stick’. Thom revealed it’s a song he’s been working on with Radiohead. Check the videos below.

I think people are making a mistake on “Lotus Flower.” Its alternate title is “Moon On a Stick” because it’s about the Chinese delicacy of mooncakes, which are made from lotus flour. Uncannily, Yorke has debuted this song just in time for the Chinese mid-Autumn festival on October 3-5.

Did anyone else see Jonny there?
my friend saw him downstairs at the bar. I’m assuming he came along with Colin.

I can confirm that he said moon-on-a-stick and not “upon.”

not sure that jonny was there. colin scurried right by me on our way out of the theater (he was going the opposite way) and jonny was not with him…whatever that means.

Didn’t see Jonny but I got to say hi to Colin at the bar and he was nice enough to pretend to remember me from Spain some years ago (I ran into him at a train station and translated some info for him…also met his wife…they were really nice back then too).
Super Collider was amazing…I’ll be posting some videos on youtube soon. =)
Oh…is it just me did Flea screw up the outro in Cymbal Rush?

WEll something was screwed up on the outro to cymbal rush, couldn’t quite put my finger on it but you might be right.
Granted flea did the rest of the show amazingly well, i’ll cut him some slack
