Radiohead head back to studio in January
Radiohead will head back to the studio in January, Ed O’Brien confirms on Dead Air Space: Vibes are fantastic in the ‘most definitely different band’ with different music.
The band said before they were going to record the follow-up to ‘In Rainbows’ this Winter. Technically, Winter officially starts tomorrow and Ed O’Brien posted on Dead Air Space that the band are heading back to the studio in January to continue from work they started last Summer. Ed O’Brien: “The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present (…) I am so genuinely excited about what we’re doing, but for obvious reasons I can’t divulge anything more.. anyway we all love surprises don’t we? 10 years ago we were all collectively (that’s the band) in the land of Kid A .. and although hugely proud of that record, it wasn’t a fun place to be .. What’s reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band, which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game….keep it moving.”

It’s a very long shot, but as I read ‘keep it moving’ I thought about ‘The Present Tense’. Conspiracies, yeah, but maybe it’s a hint! At least I hope to hear a band version of that song.

FOOKIN’ BRILLIANT! Can’t wait for the new album, they always move forwards with their albums, they don’t get trapped into “their style” and then end up fizzling out coz everyone gets bored! definitely the best band of the 21st century, by a long shot!

just in time when i was getting bored….
i’m expecting a darker album to make contrast to “in rainbows”…. maybe “in shadows”, or “wall of ice” would be a good option too, which seemed a good name for an album, at least i got familiarized to it…
Tracks that i expect:
judge, jury and executioner
open the floodgates
present tense
big boots
follow me around
lotus flower
skirting on the surface
i don’t really like super collider… so i don’t expect it

Skirting On The Surface
Burn The Witch
Come To Your (Fucking) Senses

Why do bands insist on changing? That’s how you lose fans. I don’t WANT a DIFFERENT Radiohead, I want just want Radiohead. Sure, you gain new, different fans, but you dessert the ones who loved you in the first place (unless they stick around out of loyalty, or they just so happen to get lucky and like the new style).

Chris, Radiohead always changed on every album, but in the escence they’re still Radiohead… there’s nothing new on Radiohead’s changes, so don’t be afraid, you gotta trust these smart asses like you’ve been doing during the last years. And that is what separates them like bands like Oasis, Coldplay, and all that crap… it would become boring if they didn’t CHANGE….
Stefano
December 25th, 2009
oh… and i don’t think they change on a comercial way to gain new fans…. they “change” cause they have the feel on doing it…. or was KID A a comercial album (after their high succes on “OK C”)???

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ADE? BRING IT BACK

December 25th, 2009
Ade, could you tell us what exactly happened that made you decide close the MB? I mean, i know there are/were a lot of idiots opening absurdly insulting threads, but was there a specific action that made you close it?
In any case, I support you. You couldn´t have a civilized discussion without being eaten alive, at best

Chris bands change because people evolve. Would you rather listen to a band that sticks to the same formula for 7 albums or follow a band like Radiohead as they expand and evolve their musical horizons. You can’t seriously expect 5 guys to be in the same mindset and mood for 20 years, let alone not get bored of the same old sounds and instruments.
Unless we’re talking about Oasis of course. It’s very reasonable to expect those guys to try and recreate former success by treading water for the sake of staying in one place, rather than jumping into the pool to have fun and make a splash.
