Radiohead for Haiti, Benefit show this Sunday

Radiohead will be playing a benefit show for Haiti. The money raised for this show will go to the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Drummer Phil Selway announced the Los Angeles show on Dead Air Space:

Radiohead For Haiti

We’re doing a show this Sunday (24th January) to raise funds for the relief effort in Haiti. The venue is The Music Box Theatre at The Fonda in Los Angeles, doors at 7pm. All proceeds are going to the Oxfam Haiti relief fund. We’re trying to raise as much money as possible, so tickets will be sold by auction at this site from 8pm tonight until 11am Saturday (PST):

We’re in the middle of recording at the moment, so you’ll be catching us on the fly…. but if you’re up for it, then we are too.

    And what about the carbon footprint ? Wasn’t Thom in Copenhagen, claiming that nobody were doing anything for the planet ?
    Couldn’t Radiohead have done a show for Haiti in Europe ?
    I don’t understand Thom yorke anymore. His ideas has become as hypocritical and opportunistic as Bono’s !

    The band is in LA recording… they might as well play a show while they are there. Why would they fly back to Europe for the cause?

    Ornella: Thom has been in LA for quite sometime. He’s living here as he does his music Super Band thing (hence solo shows in LA) and recording at a private home studio. Like Chicken wrote, why would he go back to Europe? The boys are here. Thom just DJ’d a set at SpaceLand recently.

    Catching a plane a couple of times is hardly going to harm the world. Whereas making a green tour will save alot of emmisions.

    I bet Radiohead plays Coachella. They have their album coming out soon and they’re playing the benefit show. Thom Yorke has question marks after his name (four, could stand for the other four members of the band.). Also they love to suprise…

    I’m sure there doing a lot of practical good in the world as far as raising money, but the whole activist musician thing is kind of annoying to me in principle.

    it’d be great to hear some of the stuff they’re working on. it’s always fun understanding how a song evolved after the first few times. really cool of the guys to do this, wish you all a wonderful time. fuck earthquakes that aren’t created by radiohead.

    How can you too be so idiot???? The footprint problem is something Thom can’t control, what do you prefer: Thom living in Oxford the rest of his life or joining the band here and there to record and play the shows the fans want so bad? And Thom recorded that show with Gilles Peterson two weeks ago! before the band went to LA to record the NEW album. They are doing a show in LA because they are THERE at the moment! Learn to get info before talking sh*t!

    Sammm – I understand your massive boner for the band, I too wear one with pride. I was simply stating a point. I think the band are doing far more good than harm in the long run. You should learn to open a dialogue before jumping down one’s throat, asshole.
