Stanley Donwood exhibits in Heerlen, The Netherlands

Posted on January 28th, 2010.

Stanley Donwood will exhibit in the Netherlands again, starting this Saturday. According to Stanley it will be his most comprehensive and biggest exhibit yet.

After the Radiohead artist showed his work in Rotterdam (’07) and Amsterdam (’08), Heerlen will be the third show in The Netherlands. Hosted by Schunck* in Heerlen, Stanley Donwood presents the ‘Red Maze’ in their cellar. The exhibition will begin some distance outside Schunck*, as from several points within Heerlen, there will be the start of a red line, a painted representation of the red thread given by Ariadne to Thesus, the thread that enables him to find his way to the heart of the Minoan maze, slay the Minotaur and make his escape. Read more about the exhibition in Stanley’s latest Taglibro. It’s a must-see for all the fans of the work of Donwood (& Tchock) as a big part will consist of Radiohead artwork. To accompany the exhibition Schunck* will be publishing a book as well as merchandise available at the exhibition.

Well worth a visit, the space afforded by schunk has allowed a fitting exhibition- covering all periods of work from OKC through to the latest IR.The labyrinth is great, and Blips playing on a giant video screen sets it off perfectly, there’s even an albion (I Think thats it’s name) printing press- so you can press your own fleet st print!-the space would not be available at the more commercial focused venues- go visit!

Really brilliant exhibition!! Finally we get some of this good stuff in Limburg and don’t have to travel far to see this piece of “well-worth-it”.
The setup by using a maze to walk through keeps it very interesting, lot’s of awesome lines to read and things to see. Go and see when you can!
