Ranked: Radiohead Albums from Worst to Best

The people from Nerve.com asked us to rank all of Radiohead’s albums from worst to best. Being afraid of all your evil comments, I chickened out and asked Sean to do it.

It’s early days with The King Of Limbs available for less than a week, but someone had to do it. On behalf of Radiohead At Ease, Sean ranked the albums from Worst to Best (with its key track) as follows:

8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
7. Hail To The Thief (There There)
6. The King Of Limbs (Codex)
5. Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
4. The Bends (Street Spirit)
3. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
2. Kid A (Everything In Its Right Place)
1. OK Computer (Lucky)

So, there you go. Read all about why he decided to list The King Of Limbs as low as at number 6 and why he thinks OK Computer is better than Kid A over at Nerve.com. And we’d love to know how you would rank them. Post them in the comments below. And be easy on Sean, will ya ;)

  • I think he nailed it, though I might even go so far as to swap HttT and TKoL.

  • My personal Ranking:

    8. Pablo Honey
    7. Hail To The Thief
    6. The Bends
    5. OK Computer
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. In Rainbows
    2. Kid A
    1. Amnesiac

  • 3. Pablo Honey
    2. King Of Limbs, Amnesiac, The Bends, In Rainbows
    1. Ok Computer, Kid A, Hail to the Thief.

  • No one’s going to have any comments about this.

  • Whoa, I thought he’d give a better list, not only for albums but the key tracks too. Its cool, it’s just one person opinion.

I guess its a hard one anyways.

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Amnesiac (Knives Out)
    6. Hail to the Thief (there there)
    5. King of Limbs (lotus flower)
    4. Kid A (Idioteque)
    3. In Rainbows (nude)
    2. The Bends (Just)
    1. OK Computer (Karma Police)

  • I think I am one of the few who really enjoyed HTTT. My ranking is typically the same, but swap 7 and 4.

  • This is pointless

  • Hmm. Hail to the Thief is a great record, so not sure about this at all. Kind of Limbs is far, far better than much of the knee-jerk critical appraisal.

  • Why is this news? Who cares.

  • Woah whoah. I agree somewhat in part but OK computer and the bends are overrated.

My order would be from worst to best.

    8.The Bends
    7.Pablo Honey
    6.Amnesiac
    5.Hail to the Thief
    4.King of Limbs
    3.Ok Computer
    2. Kid A
    1. In Rainbows

I put In Rainbows first just because with both discs its fantastic, it has all the highs and the moods of Ok Computer and it removes all that clean cut sound that dogged Ok.
Also, I love Radiohead, so by doing this I feel I should still mention that the 8th and worst album is nowhere near being a bad album, just in terms of Radiohead its not the one I like as much. You should include the EP’s in there, that would mix it up a lot.

  • King of Limbs, obviously. Kind of Limbs will be the shortly to follow outtakes collection.

  • Lucky is the ‘key track’ from OK Computer? (most bizarre thing about this list)

I Might Be Wrong is the ‘key track’ from Amnesiac?

Bump Amnesiac up higher and OK Computer lower and now we’re talking.

  • [...] I don’t think that’s an accident. But just because I’m a Radiohead Super Fan (and because many others are doing it) this is how I would personally rank their [...]

  • I don’t think The Bends has aged well at all. Aside from the title track, Street Spirit and FPT, it’s just above-average 90s indie rock.

    Should be:

    8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    6. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    5. Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
    4. The King Of Limbs (Codex)
    3. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    2. Kid A (Everything In Its Right Place)
    1. OK Computer (Lucky)

  • If I’m honest, I find it hard to disagree with (most of) this list – I’d put In Rainbows ahead of Kid A, but I’m a sucker for Reckoner and Jigsaw.

I do agree about the positioning of TKOL, though – it’s more cohesive than HTTT, but lacks the punch of many of Amnesiac’s songs.

  • 8. Pablo Honey (“Anyone Can Play Guitar”)
    7. Hail To The Thief (“A Wolf At The Door”)
    6. Kid A (“Everything In Its Right Place”)
    5. Amnesiac (“Pyramid Song”)
    4. The King of Limbs (“Little By Little”)
    3. In Rainbows (“Videotape”)
    2. The Bends (“Just”)
    1. OK Computer (“Fitter Happier”)

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    5. The King Of Limbs (Codex)
    4. Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
    3. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    2. Kid A (Everything In Its Right Place)
    1. OK Computer (Lucky)

Probably like this. I can’t understand why people dislike HTTT so much, it’s got some pretty killer tracks. Overall I’m a fan of the more electronic-based work by Radiohead, so that explains the low position of The Bends. Actually Pablo Honey is the only album I really don’t like that much, so it feels bad having to choose between the rest of them.

By the way, please get rid of that annoying sidebar overlapping the screen content. Am I really supposed to maximize my webbrowser on a 1440×900 resolution to use your site properly? That’s some really crappy interface design if you ask me. Just put it a place where it doesn’t overlap content, or hyperlinks, or any other element on your site which is more important by magnitudes of unspeakable proportions. Kthnkxbye.

  • Oh even better, forget my list above here. I’m so agreeing on Maserna’s list.

  • 8: Pablo Honey
    7: The King of Limbs
    6: The Bends
    5: Kid A
    4: OK Computer
    3: In Rainbows
    2: Hail to the Theif
    1: Amnesiac
    I think this right…

  • My personal Ranking:

    8. Pablo Honey
    7. Hail To The Thief
    6. The Bends
    5. OK Computer
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. In Rainbows
    2. Kid A
    1. Amnesiac

  • Thanks for all the comments, guys.

For the record, Nerve put those “key tracks” in there, not me. I didn’t even know they were going to do that. My key tracks would have been much different.

Secondly, I had to rank 8-1…so HTTT and TKOL probably look a lot lower than they are. Those are both MILES ahead of Pablo Honey. In addition, The Bends, Amnesiac, and TKOL could all easily swap around a bit depending on my mood. As could Kid A and OKC.

So, yeah. It’s just a silly list. Take it with a grain of salt.

  • Pablo Honey (Creep)
Hail to the Thief (There There)
    Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    King of Limbs (Codex)
    The Bends (Street Spirit)
    OK Computer (No Surprises)
    In Rainbows (All I need)
Kid A (How to disappear completely)

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. In Rainbows (All I Need)
    5. Hail to the Thief (Myxomatosis)
    4. Amnesiac (Life in a Glass House)
    3. The King of Limbs (Separator)
    2. OK Computer (The Tourist)
    1. Kid A (Motion Picture Soundtrack)

  • All quite irrelevant. More time listening to these records (as well as spending time with other works of art – Radiohead-centric or not) is time well spent, as opposed to composing and then fretting over lists and rankings. Alas, the discussion always veers away from the artistry of the work(s) at hand into a pissing contest for what record gets more spins in someone’s Discman…

  • Think his list is spot on.

  • how typical.

  • 8.amnesiac
    7.pablo honey
    6.the king of limbs
    5.in rainbows
    4.hail to the thief
    3.kid A
    2.Ok computer
    1.the bends

  • It’s really really interesting to read all your individual lists.

    / sarcasm modus off

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Blow Out)
    7. In Rainbows (Nude)
    6. The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
    5. Hail to the Thief (Wolf at the Door)
    4. The King of Limbs (Codex)
    3. Amnesiac (Life in a Glass House)
    2. OK Computer (Subterranian Homesick Alien)
    1. Kid A (How To Disappear Completely)

  • What’s the point? All sorts of people like Radiohead for all sorts of different reasons. The band’s offerings are far too diverse to objectify them like this.

  • Terrible and inaccurate list I’m afraid – also predictable at best.

  • 8.The King Of Limbs (Codex)
    7.Pablo Honey (Creep)
    6.The Bends (Street Spirit)
    5.Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
4.Hail To The Thief (There There)
    3. Kid A (Everything In Its Right Place)
    2.In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    1.OK Computer (Lucky)

I’m sorry but TKOL sound a bit like The Resurrection of The Eraser.

  • This is like saying which of you children you like the most. Maybe worse :-). Horror!!

  • King of Limbs not on my list cos a) its too soon and b) its not an album so not really comparable with the others – its somewhere between an ep and an album so should be in a different category.

    7 Pablo Honey (Creep)
6 Hail to the Thief (There There)
5 The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
    4 In Rainbows (Reckoner)
3 Amnesiac (Life in a Glasshouse)
    2 OK Computer (Airbag)
1 Kid A (Everything in it Right Place)

  • 8 – Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7 – Hail to the Thief (2+2=5)
6 – The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
    5 – Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
4 – The King of Limbs (Little by Little)
    3 – Kid A (Idiotheque)
    2 – Ok Computer ( Paranoid Android)
    1 – In Rainbows (15 Steps)

  • Too hard. So i grouped them.

    6: Pablo Honey
    5: [Blank]
    4: The Bends (The Bends)
3: In Rainbows (Reckoner) King of Limbs (Feral)
2: Kid A (Kid A) Hail to the Theif (Where I end and you Begin)
1: Ok computer (Let down) Amnesiac (I might be wrong)

    6. Amnesiac: Pyramid Song
    7. Hail to the Thief: There There
    8. Pablo Honey: Blowout

  • How to Disappear Completely, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Reckoner and Street Spirit are the four songs that make me a fan. They are SUBLIME.

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The King of Limbs
    6.Amnesiac
    5. Kid A
    4. The Bends
    3. In Rainbows
    2. Hail to the Thief
    1. Ok Computer

I found all of your rankings very interesting. And really its very hard to rank them because i like all of them (although i never listen to Pablo Honey anymore). I see that i am in the minority on Kid A which i find fascinating.

  • 8 Pablo Honey (Blow Out)
    7 The Bends (Street Spirit)

    3. The King Of The Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    2. Kid A (National Anthemn)
    1. Amnesiac (Dollars & Cents)

I’m really surprised of HTTT being behind The Bends. I’m surprised at Amnesiac too, as I thought everyone considered it their best work. This is why those lists are interesting :)

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends
    6.Ok Computer
    5. Amnesiac
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. In Raindbows
    2. Kid A
    1. Hail to the Thief

  • I think a ranking of songs would be interesting. It also would be alot harder….what would it be…top 30???

  • Self -indulgence without chocolate. Yes!

    8. Pablo Honey
    7. HTTT
    6. The Bends
    5. Amnesiac
    4. In Rainbows
    3. OK Computer
    2. King of Limbs
    1. Kid A

At the moment I feel like King of Limbs is my favourite of all, but this might be my penchant for overenthusiasm.

  • ohh and the songs

    4. In Rainbows (All I Need)
    3. Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)
    2. Pablo Honey (You)
    1. OK Computer (Paranoid Android)

  • Ideoteque or How to Disapper should be key track from Kid A, and although Creep is obvious first choice I think Blow Out is key track from PH..

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Anyone Can Play Guitar)
    7. OK Computer (Let Down)
    6. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    5. Hail To The Thief (2+2=5)
    4. The King Of Limbs (Separator)
    3. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    2. In Rainbows (All I Need)
    1. Kid A (Idioteque)

  • Pointless and boring.

  • Is it me or is this article designed just to provoke reactions from fans about whcih is the best album or not?! Personally my favourite album changes depending on what mood I’m in. I also like some of the newer stuff more because I haven’t heard it as much as say, The Bends, which I could probably listen to all the way through inside my head as I know the songs so well……..kind of like a um…….Radiohead?

Anyway I’m not going to list my favourites so there.

  • Pretty spot on!

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Blowout)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    5. King of Limbs (Bloom)

    3. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    2. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    1. Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)

Its awesome how many different favorites people have!

  • Disagree on most of it.

    8 Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7 The Bends (Bulletproof…I Wish I Was)
6 In Rainbows (House of Cards)
    5 OK Computer (No Surprises)
4 The King of Limbs (Feral)
    3 Amnesiac (Knives Out)
2 Hail to the Thief (I Will)
    1 Kid A (Morning Bell)

This was tough. For me the main track is what I would call the highlight. Pablo Honey and The Bends and to some extent OK Computer are very similar. In Rainbows has its highlights but they’ve done better. King of Limbs is fantastic but they’ve done better. I love HTTT, don’t know why it ranked so low on your list. Kid A for me is the definitive album though, from start to end its perfect

  • That’s our Sean!

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. Kid A
    6. Amnesiac
    5. The Bends
    4. Hail to the Thief
    3. OK Computer

If I could listen to only one album the rest of my life, it would be In Rainbows. Its like a mental vacation, under the ocean.

(it was more difficoult than I thought)

  • i usually find myself in agreement with sean but i would argue his placements of Kid A (should be at top) and The Bends (switch it with Hail to the Thief). Cheers, sean! :)

  • I’ll be one of the lame people who groups them.

    5. The King of Limbs (Bloom) / Hail to the Thief (Myxomatosis)
    4. In Rainbows (All I Need)
    3. OK Computer (Let Down)
    2. Kid A (Kid A)
    1. Amnesiac (You and Whose Army)

  • just to comment my post above:

it is unbelievable that something like Hail to the Thief is only my FIFTH favorite album from a band.

when you do that kind of silly ranking, you realize their constant and solid greatness. along with the beatles, radiohead must be the best band ever.

  • 8-Pablo Honey (Thinking About You)
    7-The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6-Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
5-The King Of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    4-Kid A (Idioteque)
    3-OK Computer (Paranoid Android)
    2-In Rainbows (All I Need)
1-Hail To The Thief (Where I End And You Begin)

As You can tell, I absolutely LOVE HTTT. I think it’s everything they’re good at all in one album.

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. Hail To The Thief (Myxomatosis)
    5. Amnesiac (Life In A Glasshouse)
    4. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    3. OK Computer (Paranoid Android)
    2. Kid A (The National Anthem)
    1. The King Of Limbs (Lotus Flower)

  • Don’t understand why everyone does not like Hail to the thief, its actually my favorite album…

  • Sorry, the key track on In Rainbows is not Reckoner, but Videotape imo.

  • below average albums:

    8. Pablo Honey (Been thinking about you)
    7. Hail to the Thief (Gloaming)

some awesome songs, and a few misses (why did they need to remark morning bell and put it on a new albums as opposed to a b-side, i don’t know)

    6. Amnesiac (I might be wrong)

timeless masterpiece that I spend a significant portion of my life growing up with.

    4. Kid A (every single track, with the exception of Motion Picture soundtrack)
    3. The Bends (every single track)
    2. Ok Computer (every single track)
    1. In Rainbows (every single track)

As for King of Limbs…. I don’t know yet. I know it has the potential to be great, and I know it’s better then Pablo, HTTT and Amnesiac, but I don’t know yet just how great it is.

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Blow Out)
    7. King of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    6. Amnesiac (Like Spinning Plates)
    5. Hail to the Thief (Where I End and you Begin)
    4. The Bends (Planet Telex)
    3. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    2. OK Computer (Let Down)
    1. Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)

  • 1. In Rainbows
    2. Kid A
    3. King of Limbs
    4. Amnesiac
    5. Hail to the Thief
    6. Ok Computer
    7. The Bends
    8. Pablo Honey

I don’t even want to take a shot at the “key track” part. I love six of the eight albums for their completeness in concept and design. Don’t get me wrong, I love the bends… I used to play through it track by track on my acoustic for fun. I was tempted to put King of Limbs even higher up; I decided that I have a biase for it though because it feels like something I’ve yet to fully comprehend.

  • 10. Pablo Honey (Blowout)
    9. King of Limbs (Good Morning Mister Magpie)
    8. Amnesiac (You and Whose Army)
    7. HTTT (2+2=5)
    6. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    5. Kid A (Idioteque)
4*. My Iron Lung E.P. (The Trickster)
    3*. Airbag E.P. (Pearly)
    2. The Bends (Bulletproof..I Wish I Was)
    1. OK Computer (Lucky)

*Even though they’re just EPs I rank these ahead of the full length LPs

  • there is no way tkol, in rainbows, or pablo honey belong in top 5.

  • 8- Pablo Honey (Blow Out)
    7- The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6- Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
5- Hail to the Thief (Where I End and you Begin)
    4- In Rainbows (Reckoner)
3- Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)
2- The King of Limbs (Codex)
    1- Ok Computer (Paranoid Android)

  • I think alot of people list Everything In Its Right Place as a key track alot of the time because of how fantastical it is live. The album version is tremendous but the live perfermance is the icing on the cake.
I reckon the same will go for Bloom and Morning Mr. Magpie, great live potential there.

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends
    6. In Rainbows
    5. Hail to the Thief
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. OK Computer
    2. Amnesiac
    1. Kid A

BOO BAM! Too me you all rank “In Rainbows” way too high. King of Limbs (what we have of it so far ;) ) is much more solid than In Rainbows.

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends
    6. In Rainbows
    5. Hail to the Thief
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. OK Computer

    1. Kid A

BOO BAM! To me you all rank “In Rainbows” way too high. King of Limbs (what we have of it so far ;) ) is much more solid than In Rainbows.

  • Its ponintless but funny. So, here I go.

    1. OK COMPUTER / Let down
    2. KID A / How to disappear completely
    3. HAIL TO THE THIEF / There There

    6. AMNESIAC / You and whose army

    7. Amnesiac
    6. Hail to the Thief
    5. The King of Limbs
    4. The Bends
    3. In Rainbows
    2. OK Computer
    1. Kid A

But ranking albums doesn’t always reflect exactly how you feel. So, I like to listen to some albums all the way through, and other albums I like to mix up and listen to some songs here and there, but not necessarily all at once. So, OK Computer–I can put it on and just listen for the whole 55 minutes, whereas with HTTT, although I love just about every song, as an album I just can’t rank it higher than some of the more “complete” albums like The Bends. Same story for King of Limbs and Amnesiac.

Also, I guess I could probably pick a standout from Amnesiac (Pyramid Song), HTTT (Wolf at the Door) and KoL (Lotus Flower) but I don’t think I could do it for the others.

And then Pablo Honey is not really quite as relevant…

  • Your first mistake was agreeing to do it at all. Unwise.

Also, I Might Be Wrong is the key track of Amnesiac now?
    Not Pyramid Song? Honestly?

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The King Of Limbs
    6. Amnesiac
    5. The Bends
    4. Hail To The Thief
    3. In Rainbows

  • I get why some folks think this is a “waste of time.” Would it help if the question were rephrased?

If you could make a “perfect” Radiohead album – what 10 tracks would you use? And make sure each album is represented at least once.

  • 8 Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7 The Bends (Just)
    6 In Rainbows (Bodysnatchers)

    6) Kid A (Idioteque)
    5) Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)

    3) The Bends (Street Spirit)
    2) In Rainbows (Weird Fishes)

    2. Amnesiac (Life in a Glasshouse)
    1. Kid A (Everything In It’s Right Place)

I’m not including The King of Limbs because it’s too new for me to really have any perspective on it, but my favorite track off of it is “Codex”.

    3. In Rainbows
    2. OK Computer
    1. Amnesiac

Someone should compile these user votes!

  • I don’t think I need to mention how stupid that list was

  • [...] I do have something to say about The King Of Limbs but I’m a bit behind with things. So it will be up soon. However, I have written an article for Nerve ranking Radiohead’s albums from worst to best. It wasn’t easy and I wrote it under a pretty short deadline.[...]

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Hail to the Thief (A Wolf at the Door)
    6. The King of Limbs (Codex)
    5. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    4. The Bends (High and Dry)
    3. In Rainbows (House of Cards)
    2. Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)
    1. Ok Computer (Paranoid Android)

  • As of now…

    8. Pablo Honey (Blowout)
——— (line between decent and awesome)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    5. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    4. Hail to the Thief (There There)
    3. The King of Limbs (Bloom)
    2. Kid A (The National Anthem)
    1. OK Computer (Paranoid Android)

  • I think I speak for many, let’s see a thumbsup:
    8. Pablo Honey (creep)
    7. Amnesiac (You And Whose)
    6. HTTT (Go To Sleep)
    5. In Rainbows (reckoner)
    4. Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
    3. King Of Limbs (Codex, for now, but this album is not yet complete, and will be sick as all hell as a total work when done)
    2. Kid A
    1. OK (by a very small nose)

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7.The Bends
    6. Hail to the Thief
    5. OK Computer
    4. Amnesiac
    3. King Of Limbs
    2. Kid A
    1. In Rainbows (by far)

In rainbows is wayyy underrated, while the bends and ok computer are overrated. I agree with flying lotus when he says that kid A and not ok computer, is the real classic. I can’t believe the overwhelming number of fans who rank ok computer far above all other radiohead albums. Seriously

  • I agree with Judge, Jury, and Executioner, this obsession with Ok computer is ridiculous, id expect radiohead fans to be a little more openminded than that…..

  • But, with OK, just look at the tracklist, and the complexity of the songs. I think a lot of people write off OK as the “rock” phase of RH still, but exit music, paranoid, lucky…. song for song, against the other albums, ok is reaaally a masterpiece. kid a is too, and revolutionary, so it is a close call

  • 8. pablo honey
    7. the bends
    6. hail to the thief
    5. the king of limbs
    4. amnesiac
    3. ok computer
    2. in rainbows
    1. kid a

  • Wow, I didn’t know everyone hated The King of Limbs so much!
When In Rainbows came out, I thought it was my favorite RH album, but eventually I changed my mind. Similarly, TKOL is my favorite right now, but I might ultimately decide that I like Kid A better.
Also, for each of my “key tracks” I tried to choose the song in which each album climaxes. My choice for In Rainbows, “All I Need”, might be wrong (the correct choice might be “Jigsaw Falling Into Place”. However, given the dualistic nature of that album–by which I mean the first half is very different from the second half–I’m gonna say the album climaxes at the end of the first half, and go with “All I Need”.

    1) The King of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    2) Kid A (Morning Bell)
    3) In Rainbows (All I Need)
    4) Hail to the Thief (There There)
    5) Amnesiac (Dollars and Cents)
    6) OK Computer (Lucky)
    7) The Bends (Sulk)
    8) Pablo Honey (Blow Out)

  • everyone needs to shut the hell up and listen to ‘Sail To The Moon’

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Anyone Can Play Guitar)
    7. The Bends (Just)
    6. The King Of The Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    5. OK Computer (No Surprises)
    4. Kid A (National Anthemn)
    3. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    2. Amnesiac (Dollars & Cents)
    1. In Rainbows (Jigsaw Falling Into Place)

  • This list is absurd. I can’t believe some people here would actually place In Rainbows ahead of Kid A. Radiohead’s fan base really has changed.

Anyways, I would say that it is obvious to that Radiohead’s output can NOT be rated as simply as the above list, and must be treated as two halves: rock-based and experimentally-based material. As such:

    4. Pablo
    3. In Rainbows
    2. The Bends
    1. OKC

    4. HTTT
    3. TKOL
    2. Amnesiac
    1. Kid A

  • 8 | Pablo Honey (Stop Whispering)
    7 | Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
6 | King of Limbs (Codex)
    5 | In Rainbows (Reckoner)
4 | The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
3 | Hail to the Thief (The Gloaming)
2 | OK Computer (Let Down)
1 | Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)

Also, I feel like These Are My Twisted Words deserves a mention. It may not be on an album, but I think it’s the best song since Kid A.

  • well, I may aswell add my drop to the ocean;

    8. PABLO HONEY
    7. HAIL TO THE THIEF
    6. THE KING OF LIMBS
    5. IN RAINBOWS
    4. THE BENDS
    3. AMNESIAC
    2. OK COMPUTER
    1. KID A

Close to Seans list. The bottom 3 are the same. I switched 3 with 5, and the top 2 are reversed too.

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. Hail to the Thief

I too join the ranks of those who think Hail To The Thief is underappreciated. Sure, you could shave a few tracks, but it’s jam-packed with great music, all wonderfully produced.

The King of Limbs is far too slight to stand against their post-Pablo Honey work, as well recorded as it is. I’m holding out hope it might yet become Otto Octavius, but so far it’s Douglas Bader.

  • I’m sure King of Limbs would fare much better than HTTT and The Bends in my list if only it was 2 or 3 songs longer. I love the sound they’re exploring but leaves me feeling hungry.

  • Why get dragged into this nonsense? All of the albums are brilliant and different. Each has its own context, time and place. For some reasons and when in certain moods, one album is better than another. But then with a change of mood, another seems better. It degrades the band and their music to produce lists like this. Plus, surely, the main reason why Radiohead are light years ahead of any other band is their capacity to evolve, develop, change and adapt. As a result, it’s not really sensible to evaluate any of their albums in isolation. You need to look at the whole, which is even greater than the sum of the parts.

    All IMHO of course.

  • Where’s the Pablo Honey love???

  • We lost it almost 15 years ago.

  • the king of limbs could very well be their greatest record. we should all be aware of the fact that they are way ahead of everything that is currently produced, released etc.

you can’t just write catchy tunes forever.. the beatles knew that… radiohead know it.

so have a little patience.. with TKOL. my opinion is that yorke and greenwood are brilliant. and you can feel it on this album.

to me.. what they do surpasses music. every radiohead record is a new world of sound delivered to you… it’s a great gift and an honor to be a part of it

  • 8.Pablo Honey
    7. Amenesiac
    6. The King Of Limbs
    5. The Bends
    4. Hail To The Thief
    3. In Rainbows
    2. Kid A
    1. Ok Computer

  • It is like asking what your favorite Radiohead song is. It is imposseble to say, That also goes for the album, all the albums are great in there own way and it really depends on in which mood your in.

I cant rank the albums, it is to diffecult for me, guess. I have to do it will be as followed

    1. KIngs of limbs, Hail to the thief, In Rainbows, OK computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, The bends.
    2. Pablo Honey

  • My listing with key track, which I’ve taken as meaning the most iconic / atmosphere defining, not necessarily my favourite track of the album):

    8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Amnesiac (Morning Bell / Amnesiac)
    6. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    5. Hail to the Thief (There There)
    4. In Rainbows (Weird Fishes / Arpeggi)
    3. The King of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    2. Kid A (Everything In It’s Right Place)
    1. OK Computer (Karma Police)

Difficult though. I’m not convinced Pablo Honey should be classed as worst, because through the context of hindsight it’s not exactly the same as the rest of the discography and difficult to compare. In a historic context however – the UK in 1992, post Thatcher pre Britpop, height of acid house / rave scene, US grunge dominating the alternative scene – it’s a work of brilliance, and the fact that it (and especially Creep) garnered attention is the sole reason that Radiohead gained the high profile that they have today.

Personally, I think that taking an album at a time and ignoring the rest of the discography, Amnesiac falls short of the rest in it’s own context – but mainly because I dislike Knives Out (and believe me, that’s the only Radiohead song that I actually dislike). But – and this happens a lot – listening back to it last week before TKOL came out, Amnesiac sounded a lot stronger than I remember.

In conclusion – a very hard thing to do.

  • A bad idea to rank Radiohead’s work from worst to best.
All i feel like saying is the first two (obvious) positions:

    Pablo Honey
    Hail to the Thief

    the rest is all amazing.

  • Whilst I love the album, I personally disagree with a lot of things that In Rainbows is praised for.

Still, I’m not going to bother trying to rank the albums, I’ll procrastinate somewhere else.

  • Ok let’s try:

    8. Pablo Honey
    7. Hail to the Thief
    6. King of the Limbs
    5. The Bends
    4. Amnesiac
    3. In Rainbows
    2. OK Computer
    1. Kid A

  • 1. Amnesiac
    2. The King of Limbs
    3. Kid A
    4. In Rainbows
    5. OK Computer
    6. The Bends
    7. Hail To The Thief
    8. Pablo Honey

I hate myself. As someone said before, this is pointless. When a band is this great/groundbreaking, ranking their brilliance is moot. It’s like asking who is better, John Coltrane or Wayne Shorter. It’s more a matter of preference, rather than quality. But let’s face it…my list is the best list.

  • It’s all personal opinions, but fun for amusement! :D

  • id like someone to explain to me why they think ok computer is so much better than every other radiohead album. Dont get me wrong, I think it is one of the best ever made, but kid a and in rainbows especially is other worldly music…pure genius and very innovative works, more so ( i would argue) that ok computer and the bends

  • Glad to see some people here like HTTT, bump it up to higher ranked, it’s always been underrated imho.

  • 9) Pablo Honey (Lurgee)
    8) I Might Be Wrong – Live Recordings (Like Spinning Plates)
    7) The King of Limbs (Little By Little)
    6) Amnesiac (You and Whose Army?)
    5) Hail To The Thief (Sail to the Moon)
    4) Ok Computer (Airbag)
    3) The Bends (Just)
    2) Kid A (Idioteque)
    1) In Rainbows (Last Flowers Till The Hospital)

There you have it. You can’t fo’get live recordings; that version of like spinning plates is one of their best songs ever. Sometimes these knuckleheads get a little too esoteric, or perhaps I can’t follow their musical genius, but the amnesiac version was sort of incomprehensible.

This isn’t pointless, as some of ya’ll fools said; it’s the most important decision of the decade, seeing as how we might very likely lose power, rights, etc., here and everwhere in the world, so you might not have the opportunity to take all your radiohead albums with you where ever you go.

the knucklehead above me ranked things backwards, but oh, yeah, his is still the best! I’m just teasing, everybody! Go meditate or do some yoga.

  • Me too! Johnny.

  • 1. In Rainbows(arpeggi)
    2. The King of Limbs(give up the ghost)
    3. The Bends(the bends)

    5. Kid A(in limbo)
    6. Hail To The Thief(sit down stand up)
    7. Amnesiac(i might be wrong)
    8. Pablo Honey(lurgee)

  • Why is the King of limb so low? and in Rainbows so high??

    8) Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7) Hail to the Theif (Wolf at the Door)
    6) Amnesiac (I might be Wrong)
    5) In Rainbows (Reckoner/House of cards)
    4) The Bends (Street Spirit/Planet Telex)
    3) King Of Limbs (Separator)
    2) Kid A (Idioteque)
    1) Ok Computer (Lucky)

  • I would say any of us could play any Radiohead album and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Radiohead haven’t put out a crappy album and we should be happy about it.

  • As pointless, and subjective this whole thing is, as each have their own sound, and feeling, I’ll make a list, be slightly different, and give my reasons for each…

(Pablo Honey) As someone else said, for the styles it was splicing together, it’s actually quite well done, if just slightly misguided, and forced. I think they knew what they had, just sadly used it for the wrong reasons, and is probably the biggest reason they tried so hard to be as good as they are.
(King of Limbs) Not sure I should even rank it yet, but what the hey. At the present, I feel Thom, took over in the studio, and did all the parts himself, and had little perspective from his band mates, but I like it, and it’s really influencing my music tastes as of recent.
(Haiil To The Theif) Love it, great collection of songs, but it’s just that, and doesn’t work as an “album” in the sense of Radiohead’s other work’s. It’s disjointed, interchangable, and bloated, but actually very relistenable. 2+2′, A Wolf’, and There’, are some of their best.
(Amnesiac) This album grew on me more than any of their other albums, actually going from really hating it, to loving it. It’s a menacingly dark, and brutal experience and has Pyramid Song, and Life in A Glass House, so enough said.
(The Bends) For an album released in ’95, and just coming off the mess that was Pablo Honey, it’s an pretty amazing leap. While it show’s signs of the decade, if anything it’s nostalgic, and emotional. An original, and superb work, overall.
(In Raibows) Excellent songcraft, exceptionally thought out, and wonderfully delicate, and sexy, but more down to Earth, and accessable then their others. The one to show your friends.
(Ok Computer) Their best sequence of song’s on any album, and each stand out on their own merits. The sounds, and moods that erupt from their instruments, are still startling today.
(Kid A) It’s about the whole, and this album is an experience/journey. Concept or not, the themes, atmosphere, soundscapes, and feeling running through this album are unmatched, breaking away from song structures, and pop melodies completely. Just like a beautifully done film. Still sound’s before it’s time.

  • Amusement aside, why not just mix our own favorites, and be done with it! :D

  • Oh, forgot, we are just real bored at work, keep it up! :D

  • ahhh, i’m a minority here, all the worst lists are on my best lists. i don’t have Pablo Honey, can’t get into Amnesiac full hearted.

  • I think he is spot on (with the POSSIBLE exception of swapping Hail to the Thief and the King of Limbs) as far as ranking goes, but the key tracks are definitely debateable. I’d go with:

OK Computer – Paranoid Android (I know, soooo expected)
    In Rainbows – Weird Fishes
    The Bends – The Bends
Amnesiac – You and Whose Army?
the King of Limbs – Lotus Flower

Overall, though, I am still shocked that Sean’s ranking is realistic. You were right, it probably was better to have him do this.

  • 7. Pablo Honey
    6. Hail to the Thief
    5. Amnesiac
    4. The Bends
    3. Kid A
    2. In Rainbows
    1. OK Computer

    too early for TKOL…
anyways ranking is kinda pointless – all of their albums apart from pablo honey would easily make my favourite 20 albums of all time

  • @lifeistao

Thank’s. I actually love that everyone has completely different views on what’s their best/worst, just goes to show that Radiohead are so good, there really isn’t a definite “best” by way of their fans’ choosing. It’s great Radiohead, can do something different with each album, and split the opinion, show’s they make little compromise, and have a willingness to progress, and do something different. And I think they did that with The King of Limbs, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it, it’s different…but is it good?

  • @lifeistao

I agree, it has the sexy, and delicate portions at times, hence tracks: ‘Lotus Flower,’ and ‘Give Up The Ghost,’ and you could say it’s their most mellow, sparse, straightforward, and dark record yet. Which remind’s me more of the Kid A, rhythms and textures, than the up-front vocal beauty that was In Rainbows, with it’s wonderfully executed melody, strings, arpeggios, and welcoming atmosphere. KOL, they’re layering sounds, and seem more into odd time sig’s, and less structure.

  • I honestly feel it’s needless to compare their records anyhow, to pick a favorite, as it only causes people to make contrasts between two unlike things. They’re great in their own respects, and if you don’t make any assumptions on what their music “should” sound like, it’s much more enjoyable overall. For example, The Bends, is perhaps their most emotionally dynamic, and energetic record they’ve made, but can you compare that to the thematic, alienated, and abstract soundscapes of Kid A? Two totally different thing’s, both artfully done.

  • Hail To The Thief is criminally underrated. It’s a class album.

  • I’m surprised to see so many people rate The Bends so low. Not sure what you guys have bee smoking. But anyway…

  • every album is like a different band did it, makes this hard. Lets keep KOL in perspective though, think about these albums in context, and also remember that as although albums like the bends and hail to the thief focus on guitar driven hard rock, which has been done, it’s never been done as cool as rh does it. They closed the argument on brit rock, they closed the argument on grunge, and they opened the argument on techno-synth rock, they made one of the most unique and awesome albums of all time in In Rainbows and somehow overcame whatever Pablo Honey was.

  • I don’t think anyone is taking this seriously, they’re just having some fun Little by little. We all rate music every time we listen to it – the more we choose to listen to something, the more we like it. That’s why it’s hard for me to gauge how TKOL fits in for me.

I’ll say this for the exercise, it’s fun reading the lists and now I’m planning to pull out the Bends and OK Computer again. Not sure if they’ll sound as good to me as they once did, but I look forward to finding out.

  • If I was going to rank their best albums, my list would look pretty much like Sean’s up there, but this is my list for personal favorites (along with my personal favorite songs in parentheses). Hail to the Thief is my favorite album. It’s the album I never get tired of. I know OK Computer and Kid A are better albums, but I’ve worn those out. That’s why my no. 1 album gets a score of 9.6 and OKC and Kid A get a perfect 10.0! And TKOL might climb up my list after some time. It’s still new and it’s one of those albums that takes awhile to grow on you.

    8. Pablo Honey (Blow Out) 5.8/10.0
    7. The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees) 9.0/10.0
    6. The King of Limbs (Codex) 9.2/10.0
    5. In Rainbows (All I Need) 9.4/10.0
    4. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song) 9.6/10.0
    3. OK Computer (Exit Music) 10.0/10.0
    2. Kid A (How to Disappear Completely) 10.0
    1. Hail to the Thief (Sail to the Moon) 9.6

  • Well, are all wrong, it’s actually:

    8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    6. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    5. The King Of Limbs (Little By Little)
    4. Kid A (In Limbo)
    3. The Bends (The Bends)
    2. OK Computer (Let Down)
    1. In Rainbows (Reckoner)

    ;)

  • Terrible ranking! How could Hail to the Thief be that low???? I mean, I know it’s tough and all but c’mon.

    8. Pablo Honey (Thinking About You)
    7. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    6. Amnesiac (Dollars & Cents)
    5. The King Of Limbs (Morning, Mr. Magpie)
    4. OK Computer (Exit Music (For a Film))
    3. Hail To The Thief (Scatter Brain)
    2. In Rainbows (Jigsaw Falling Into Place)
    1. Kid A (Idioteque)

  • How does everyone still put the bends so high???? That’s not even the same band…I hardly listen to it after hearing…well…anything after that…with the exception of street spirit…

  • I don’t care, every one of them is a milestone in their expression, stop comparing, please.

    I love them so much!

  • these lists make me sad.

if you listen, you can hear how wonderful KOL is. They’re all there, just like before.

just a different side of the same coin..

  • there isn’t too much love for hail to the thief. It’s not their best but surely not their worst. Here’s just my personal opinion:

    8. Pablo Honey (Blow Out)
    7. The Bends (Planet Telex)
    6. King of Limbs (Separator)
    5. In Rainbows (House of Cards)
    4. Hail to the Thief (Wolf At The Door/Scatterbrain)
    3. Amnesiac (I Might Be Wrong)
    2. Ok Computer (Exit Music)
    1. Kid A (Idioteque)

  • Just looking through, it seems not many people rate The Bends very highly. A contrary response maybe? Given that it’s often thought of as the one that people that don’t really ‘get’ Radiohead like?

Also, The King of Limbs isn’t ranking very highly. Is it maybe seen as more of a transitory work?

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends
    6. Hail to the Thief
    5. OK Computer
    4. Amnesiac
    3. The King of Limbs
    2. In Rainbows
    1. Kid A

  • This is gonna sound weird but i hate seeing their work put in an order of quality, they are all of a very high similar quality!! and i play them all roughly the same amount of times depending on what sorta mood i’m in.
I hate seeing Pablo Honey constantly at 7 or 8, cause in my opinion its probably the best pure rock album ever, and i make a note to revisit it every few months!!
The king is dead…. long live the king of limbs and radiohead!!

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. The Bends (Planet Telex)
    6. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    5. King Of Limbs (Bloom)
    4. Hail To The Thief (Where I end and you begin/There There)
    3. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    2. OK Computer (Let Down)
    1. Kid A (Motion Picture Soundtrack

I just realized that I’m a kliché, that one hell of a way to wake up!

  • 8. pablo honey (creep)
    7. The bends (bullet proof)
    6. ok computer (climbing up the walls)
    5. Kid A (morning bell)
    4. in rainbows (jigsaw falling into place)
    3. the king of limbs (separator)
    2. amnesiac ( like spinning plates)
    1. hail to thief (2 plus 2 is 5)

this is so annoying!!! ok computer is one of my favorite albums of all times!!! this question is illegal !!

  • I love how people start at 8, like they think they’re keeping suspense up or something.

    1= In Ranbows: Reckoner
    1= The Bends: Planet Telex
    3 Kid A: Kid A
    4 Amnesiac: Pyramid Song
    5 = OK Computer: Airbag
5= Hail to the Thief: Scatterbrain
    7 King of Limbs: Codex
    8 Pablo Honey: Stop Whispering

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep, Lurgee, You)
    7. Hail to the Thief (Where I end…, There There)
    6. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song, Like Spinning Plates)
    5. The Bends (Street Spirit, Just, Fake Plastic Trees)
    4. Kid A (How to Disappear…, Everything in its Right Place)
    3. King of Limbs (Codex, Little by Little, In Bloom)
    2. In Rainbows (Reckoner, Nude, Weird Fishes)
    1. OK Computer (Exit Music, Paranoid Android, Karma Police)

I’m at about 60-70 listens of KoL, and it gets better and better and deeper. It’s just too damn short :(

  • I’m totally serious about this:

    1. the king of limbs (Separator)
    2. Kid A (How to Disappear)
    3. OK Computer (no key track)
    4. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    5. The Bends (My Iron Lung)
    5. In Rainbows (House of Cards)
    6. Hail to the Thief
    6. Pablo Honey

I think i’m a pretty normal, average radiohead fan, but honestly, i like the king of limbs THAT much. i think it’s their most understated album, but that doesn’t make it bad… i like that it’s concise. but more importantly, i like that it’s about sounds. it doesn’t win you over with big, obvious vocal hooks. it’s their most textured album, their most coherent, and for me, the most emotional poignant. the emotional build-up to the warm understatedness and optimism of the last song is the best thing they’ve ever done, in my opinion. it’s a beautiful piece of music, every moment of it.

  • 8. Pablo Honey(Blow Out)
    7. The King of Limbs(Little By Little)
    6. In Rainbows(Bodysnatchers)
    5. The Bends(Just)
    4. Ok Computer(Climbing Up The Walls)
    3. Kid A(Idioteque)
    2. Hail To The Thief(Sit Down, Stand Up; Or Myxamatosis)
    1. Amnesiac(Life In A Glasshouse)

Kol would be higher if it was longer. In Rainbows is boring IMO. Not as exciting. More accessible so to speak. Plus most of the chit chat about that album is the pay what you want model

  • you guys know whats an underrated song? blow out, off Pablo Honey…i love that jam

  • I think this whole article should be renamed…Radiohead Ranked My Favorite to My Least Favorite. Clearly we all like every album.

How about the best of their b-sides?

    1) Fog/Fog (again)
    2) True Love Waits
    3) Like Spinning Plate (Acoustic)
    4) Cuttooth
    5) Gagging Order
    6) The Trickster
    7) Polyethylene (Parts 1 &2)
    8) Talk Show Host

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Vegetable)
    6. Hail To The Thief (Myxomatosis)
    6. The King Of Limbs (?)
    4. Kid A (The National Anthem)
    4. Amnesiac (You and Whose Army?)
    3. The Bends (Street Spirit)
    2. OK Computer (Exit Music)
    1. In Rainbows (15 Step/ Weird Fishes/ All I Need/ Faust Arp/ Reckoner/ Jigsaw Falling Into Place/ Videotape)

Kid and Amnesiac are really a tie for me as are The King of Limbs (so far) and Hail To The Thief. In Rainbows is not just my favorite Radiohead album, it is my favorite album of all time.

  • Too many permutations to bother writing my own. The original makes sense on what the throngs might think, though I’d disagree…dunno why HTTT sometimes seems to get a bum rap.
But the ‘key track’ — Was ‘Lucky’ really the “key track” for OK Computer?
Is this a release thing? Was it released as the main single in the UK or something? I dunno…I thought it would have been ‘Airbag’ (based on the North American EP that followed) or ‘Paranoid Android’ based on its huge success as a single.

  • amazing how each time i listen to this album i love it more and more.. im in a loving relationship with radiohead for over 6 years now, listened to every MASTERPIECE they had ever created, but this is way different. so

  • 1.Ok Computer
    2.Hail tothe thief
    3.Kid A
    4.The bends
    5.In Rainbows
    6.Amnesiac
    7.Pablo Honey
    8.The King of Limbs

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)

    4. OK Computer (Lucky)
    3. The King of Limbs (Codex)
    2. In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    1. Kid A (Idioteque)

I think most days I would put In Rainbows number one, but I just got through listening to Kid A. My list changes quite a bit. And yes, I did put OK Computer at 4.OK Computer would be two or three for me some of the time. I really like The King of Limbs a whole lot. If it were full length, then people would rate it much higher than what I am seeing on here. I know it would probably be my number one if it were a full length album or had Big Boots on it :)

I picked Idioteque from Kid A, not only because I was obsessed with it when it came out, but also because it was the song that most typified the turning away from their OK Computer days. Radiohead could have continued the same formula that they followed on The Bends and OK Computer, maintaining their celebrity in the States, but they chose a different route. How to disappear Completely and Everything In Its Right Place are better songs by most measures.

  • King of Limbs.. is it mediocre??? I have heard it 8 times.. still cant decide if it is a masterpiece or an average album.

All the songs seem amazing except morning mr magpie and little by little which is 9 mins of mediocrity

  • For me:

    8. pablo honey
    7. amnesiac
    6. the king of limbs
    5. Kid A
    4. the bends
    3. Ok computer
    2. Hail to the thief
    1. In Rainbows
Maybe a change with the top three- depends on the mood- also the king of limbs is bound to move upwards over time- not overly obsessed with Kid A tho

  • Guess I’ll contribute…

    8. The Bends (Just)
    7. Pablo Honey (Prove Yourself)
    6. Hail To The Thief (Myxomatosis)
    5. The King Of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    4. In Rainbows (Videotape)
    3. Amnesiac (Like Spinning Plates)
    2. Kid A (Idioteque)
    1. OK Computer (Paranoid Android)

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Anyone Can Play Guitar)
    7. The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)
    6. The King of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    5. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    4. Hail To The Thief (There There)
    3. In Rainbows (Nude)
    2. OK Computer (Airbag)
    1. Kid A (The National Anthem)

4-6 are very close in my mind, as are 1-3. They definitely depend on mood. Fun little exercise!

  • 8. Pablo Honey (Creep)
    7. Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
    6. The King of Limbs (Morning Magpie)
    5. Hail To The Thief (Where I End And You Begin)
    4. In Rainbows (Weird Fishes)
    3. OK Computer (Let Down)
    2. Kid A (Morning Bell)
    1.The Bends (Fake Plastic Trees)

My list. Thought it would be easy but it wasn’t.

  • The key tracks are pretty much spot on, Sean.

  • I would go for this,
brackets are not particularly key tracks, just my favs:

    8) Pablo Honey (Ripcord)
    7) Amnesiac ( I might be wrong)
    6) The Bends (Iron lung)
    5) King Of Limbs (Codex)
    4) Hail To The Thief (2+2=5)
    3) Kid A (Idioteque)
    2) In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    1) Ok Computer (Lucky)

  • 9) Pablo Honey (Creep)
    8) The Bends (fuck the cd, key song: Talk Show Host)
    7) In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    6) The King of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    5) OK Computer (No Surprises)
    4) Thom Yorke’s The Eraser (Cymbal Rush)
    3) Kid A (How to Disappear Completely)
    2) Amnesiac (Life In a Glasshouse)
    1) Hail to the Thief (There There)

  • it’s pretty interesting that hardly any of people’s lists are the same. for me it’s:

    8 Pablo Honey (You)
    7 The Bends (Bones)
6 The King Of Limbs (Lotus Flower)
    5 In Rainbows (Reckoner)
    4 Ok Computer (Lucky)
3 Hail to the Thief (We Suck Young Blood)
    2 Kid A (Morning Bell)
1 Amnesiac (You And Whose Army?) – it was REALLY close between this and Kid A

  • The above ranking (posted by the author of this article) is rubbish.

1.OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief, In Rainbows.
    2.The King of Limbs.
    3.The Bends.
    4.Pablo Honey

  • 1. (All a tie) Kid A, In Rainbows, OK Computer
    2. The Bends
    3. King Of Limbs
    4. Hail to the Thief
    5. Pablo Honey
    6. Amnesiac (I will ALWAYS hate that Morning Bell version – love the rest of the album though)

  • I don’t think it’s possible to have much of an order to this as the style of music from Pablo to King of Limbs is really vast.

Also how can you order experimental sounding albums like Kid A, Amnesiac, TKOL with well constructed written songs like those on Bends, Ok Computer and In Rainbows?

Also I guess most lists would be determined by when people started to get into Radiohead. For me that was when Just was released so The Bends so it’s really quite special to me.. it has some pretty perfectly written songs on it, musically it’s not massively adventurous I don’t suppose.

    Hmm.

It’s good to see so many people undecided though, it certainly shows RH are an awesome band if they are producing albums where people struggle to pick a favourite or “best” one.

  • 8.) Pablo Honey (You)
7.) The Bends (Street Spirit (fade out))
6.) The King of Limbs (Codex)
    5.) OK Computer (Karma Police)
4.) Hail to the Thief (Where I End and You Begin)
    3.) Amnesiac (Pyramid Song)
2.) In Rainbows (House of Cards)
    1.) Kid A (Kid A)

I don’t think anyone else has a list this oddly placed

  • well, after a week living with TKOL, my list has changed slightly and i’ll bet it will keep changing the more I listen to it. It’s moving up in the list.

    8. pablo honey
    7. the bends
    6. hail to the thief
    5. amnesiac
    4. the king of limbs
    3. ok computer
    2. in rainbows
    1. kid a

  • 8. Amnesiac
    7. The King of Limbs
    6. Pablo Honey
    5. Hail To The Thief
    4. In Rainbows
    3. Kid A
    2. The Bends
    1. OK Computer

  • 8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends

    1. Amnesiac/Hail to the Thief/In Rainbows/Kid A/OK Computer/The King of Limbs

  • Oh is it too late, is anyone still reading this stuff?

    1. Kid A
    2. Amnesiac
    3. The King of Limbs
    4. In Rainbows
    5. OK Computer
    6. The Bends
    7. Hail to the Thief
    8. Pablo Honey

  • Extremely hard to do.

    8. Pablo Honey
    7. The Bends
    6. Hail to the Thief
    5. Amnesiac
    4. The King of Limbs
    3. In Rainbows
    2. Kid A
    1. OK Computer

  • I won’t say anything about the order of the albums, but most of those “key tracks” weren’t the key tracks at all.

  • I haven’t heard much of Pablo Honey, but what I did, I hated. They were trying wayyyy to hard to sound like a radio rock band. But since I haven’t heard all of Pablo Honey, I can’t fairly call it the worst, so until the time I DO hear PH, I’m definitely calling The King of Limbs the worst. There is no melody anywhere, it’s all repetitive, there is no skill in drumming or guitars (just looping tracks, wow, how creative, how skilled). Plus, Thom Yorke sold out by buying into the whole “tight, skinny jeans” fad like a douche.

  • 1 In Rainbows (reckoner)
    2 OK Computer (The Tourist)
    3 Amnesiac (pyramid song)
    4 The Bends(Fading Out)
5 King of Limbs (little by little)
    6 Kid A (idioteque)
7 Haile to The Thief (myxomatosis)
    8 Pablo Honey (Creep)

  • If it wasn’t for Pablo Honey, I wouldn’t be here right now. 34, and able to clearly remember playing pablo honey on repeat. Paid for it myself, played it on the all-in-one piece of shit stereo that I also paid for on my own, listening to it until late- on the headphones that… yes, I paid for on my own. I hated having a job, and I hated the job, but it was one of those times when I felt like I was moving forward in life. Cheesy now, but… just awesome back then.

I could never put the albums in order because I could never bring myself to put pablo last. It’s like admitting that you wouldn’t have kissed your first girl if you hadn’t not kissed a girl yet.

And another way to look at Pablo Honey….
People wanted to bang your mother when she was your age. She’s not that hot these days, but she’s still a great lady, right?
