As reported earlier a new Thom Yorke collaboration to be a released as a single on Text Records was suddenly announced. Here’s the audio of both tracks ‘Ego’ & ‘Mirror’.

Thom Yorke collaborates with Burial and Four Tet on this release and it was aired on Rinse FM during the Four Tet vs Floating Points. First up is the A side of the 12″, limited to 300 copies. Listen to ‘Ego’

On the flip side you can hear ‘Mirror’. Here we go:

    It sounds okay. The heart that we are all used to when all four of the band members get together are definitely missing.
    If this is your type of jam, then rock on…
    If you love Radiohead more than Thom Yorke then this isn’t really anything.

    i like that thom has different musical interests, but i seem like he is so caught up in this dubstep, dance warp right now. that’s fine with me, but i feel like it shouldn’t affect radiohead the band. he should do a whole solo album with different producers from these genres, i think that should be his next step and would be ace. as far as radiohead, although i am sure he is bored with the whole process of making songs with the same band for the last 20 years, he should stick to the beautiful songs he writes with them. basically i feel like radiohead should be more of a group effort. i miss johnny’s guitar and white noises, colin’s kick ass bass and phil’s drumming. not saying don’t love their progression, just i feel they are following thom’s lead.

    It take’s a few listens to get use to hearing Thom’s voice on a more upbeat track, but it sound’s pretty decent. Hearing the recent releases by Radiohead/Thom Yorke really make’s me appreciate the absolute perfection that was the vocals/lyrics/melodies on In Rainbows.

    fuck. if i feel that is the vinyl or nothing – it deserves it ! ! i’ d swim in an ocean of vinyls playing these both tracks if i could get hand of one . 300 vinyl that beg for 1300 more at least , please and give some time to the masses to buy WE NEED IT ! ! !

    the problem with your reasoning that thom should keep this style of music to just his solo work and not let it interfere with radiohead the band, is that it’s not just thom that is influenced by it and therefore creating this style of music. you mention wanting to hear more johnny greenwood guitar. well johnny is probably as much responsible for their current musical direction than thom is. listen to some of his solo work…bodysong etc..

    i’m loving what they..radiohead..are coming up with at the mo. it’s the sound of the future….

    Bil Walker, I guess you’re right. Jonny is involved in the process of arrangement, but all the songs have been written by Thom who’s directing the band where he likes. I’m a big Radiohead fan, not a Burial and Four Tet one…
    Sincerely these 2 electronic songs are meaningless to me. I still prefer any played to sampled music, I don’t eat any food they feed me with. I still would like them to go back to the style of The Bends era, but I think that they’ve pushed too far; further than this is almost impossible.

    pretty sad, you live for almost a century and you want to hear the same kind of sound over again and again. Expand your mind, there’s more to the sounds of life than ‘rock’. It all has its own place – let artists breathe.

    Ego is like a burst of the sounds that dubstep/electronic artists have conjured up in the last few years or so – it’s so beautiful. All 3 at their best really.

    man, thom is the most creative musician around at the moment, and even tho we’ve been listenin to the band hes been in the last 20 years doesnt mean we kno the guy, or think we have the right to judge everything he does. if your only a radiohead fan, and not solo thom, then dont even listen to it. you already made the decision you arent going to eat any food they give you, then dont click the play button. these are great tracks in themselves. its not JUST a thom song, so go into it with some open mindness and ride the songs full ride without judgement

    this just sounds like house music to me. honestly, if this wasn’t labeled a “thom yorke” collaboration, i wouldn’t even suspect it. it left nothing to the imagination and just kinda went around for a bit and than finished.

    they kinda bored me, which is a shame since i LOVED Four Tet’s last album, seeing him live twice last year, and Burial has always been a pleasure to listen to. Ah well, can’t win them all…
