Radiohead to release 2-track vinyl on Record Store Day

Radiohead are set to release two more tracks on Record Store Day. Two brand new tracks following Today’s physical release of The King Of Limbs.

As announced Today, Radiohead will be releasing a two track 12″ vinyl on the worldwide Record Store Day. The two tracks are The Butcher and Supercollider. The latter has been played before by Radiohead on their previous live shows. Record Store Day is on April 16 and there are rumours of a limited edition of 2,000 copies. This number is most likely for one territory only. So the total number of copies are expected to be much higher. According to retailer Rise Bristol Ltd, who issued the info, the UK price is expected to be £10.

  • YES !! But it’s not enough !!

  • Wouhou !

  • where has this been announced exactly?

  • WOAH. Okay.

  • Nice.

  • 2 new tracks is good news, even though supercollider is the very definition of ‘Meh’.

The whole Record Store day thing seems completely self-defeating, though. What’s the point of releasing a miniscule number of singles if it’s about getting people back into Record Stores?

I remember turning up at my local independent shop 5 mins after opening time to try and nab a copy of Blur’s ‘Fool’s Day’ and it was already gone; probably nabbed by some tool who never even liked the band, just to flog it on Ebay.

So here’s hoping there’s more than 2, 000 copies, or that there’ll at least be a download made available after the fact.

Radiohead have sure made Monday a great start to the week.

  • Would I be right in thinking that this ‘E.P’ as it were will be called ‘Ragnorok’, ‘Root of Roots’, ‘Axis Mundi’ or ‘Urpflanze’, after the names written in the newspaper. TKOL and Codex are already taken. Also, Yay! New music!!!

  • If you read the website description you will read that one lucky fan will get a signed 12″ record with TWO songs.
The set is 2 10″ records. I always knew that there would be more music. Couldn’t imagine these 2 being there favorite of the 8.
Too bad for us. Hope its not another 4 years to hear another record. This is getting old and too much time in between albums.

  • This 12″ vinyl should be thrown in for everyone who bought the newspaper album.

  • Being a 12 inch vinyl, does it not seem like they could pack more than two songs on it? I mean, if they’re putting four songs on a single 10 inch vinyl, can they not put more than two songs on the 12 inch?

  • I agree it should be thrown in for everyone who bought the newspaper box set.

  • But you never really know what Thom Yorke and company are gonna do. I don’t really think they are hurting for funds so it is strange that this last album was only 8 tracks so far. We will see what the newspaper edition brings hopefully a twist.

  • Okay last post, all in all I am done being concerned with how many new songs are or are not gonna be released this year. I am just hoping to hear a worldwide tour is gonna happen again soon.

  • Are the stores that “The Universal Sigh” released through all participating in Record Store day. The one I got mine from is. So, cold the code be something to do with this new 12″???? I hope it guarantee’s those with a code a copy of the single (or at least a download).

  • If this is true, why is it not on the RSD 2011 website? News source anyone?

  • Another big let down from a band who is totally out of touch with their fans! What is with all the vinyl releases? How about keeping up with the times with cds or just a download? Why do they make it so hard to get their music. Radiohead have lost the concept of what their fans really want. They plan too much around the hype of the release. I bought their stupid box set in February and now I have to wait until the middle of May to get something that probably only has 8 songs on it. i think it’s time to find a new band that actually cares about what theirfans really want.
