Radiohead’s Supercollider/The Butcher 12″ available to order

As we previously mentioned back in April, Radiohead’s Record Store Day 12″ release of Supercollider and The Butcher is now available to order online. Head over to The King Of Limbs online shop which has undergone a little makeover complete with copies of the new 12″. I suspect there are not a ton of copies so make sure you get your order in quickly.

Supercollider/The Butcher is also available in record stores throughout the US and Canada. Let us know in the comments where you’ve been able to find it so that others can track down a copy as well.

  • Your mum.

  • awesome tracks, despite some fucks might have to say

  • The only people that are going to buy this are the “cool ones”.
    Gee you’re so cool.

  • I wouldn’t waste a penny on this.
Can I pay what I want?
    Nevermind. I don’t want it.

  • 12 pounds for a single?

  • if you live in SoCal i would imagine Amoeba would be a HUGE spot that would have it. Also Fingerprints in LB and other small indie stores.
BUT GO TO AMOEBA! the last great multimedia store

  • 12 mother fucking pounds! They know how to overcharge me the bastards. I will end up buying it because I love the vinyl version of TKOL and feel these songs are very much a part of it.

Might need to try and find it cheaper elsewhere.

  • £12 isnt that bad if it’s still limited edition. depends how many copies there are but it’d probably at least double in price in 10 or so years if you keep it in good condition

  • Newbury Comics has them

  • Electric Fetus in Minneapolis MN has/had copies. I picked one up for $16 and some change with tax.

  • The internet has tonnes of FREE copies available for download.

  • I’m sitting here contemplating, 2 tracks of songs on a 16″ Vinyl for $16.00 “limited edition”?

In old days, artist/carpenter/craftsman make things with their hands, creativity & great effort, with their limited time, limited resources, limited tools. Their works can not be duplicated with mass production, with its rarity and labor intensity, it becomes more precious.

In new commercial days, limited editions equates a product of marketing tool.

  • @ brttrdmkr

Thanks, Fingerprints & AMOEBA both look like neat places, will def. check it out.

  • i can’t believe people are angry about this…

the idea that today a band can make a (12″ @light) record which people actually want to PAY for… pretty rare these days

you think the band is gonna sit there rolling in their cash? i can’t exactly imagine thom and colin looking for the big bucks. this is clever, successful and (as far as it goes) failry honest marketing directed at people who actually want some good music in a good physical copy that means something to them.

music is free. radiohead records are not.

  • ben you r smart and i like U . i am glad to pay for quality and special releases – very glad to do so –

also @ Amnesiac What? : if you consider a guy /girl who pays good money for an incredible release in an incredible sound quality just a guy that is buying it because is ” cool ” well that s your view – now , if you consider a person who loves sound quality , a person who loves to smoke a nice blunt while listening and dancing to an incredible record while having and incredible refreshing good drink and smiling all alone the experience, a ” cool ” one , i guess you re right – i am buying it , not because as you said i am ” cool ?????? ” but because i know how to enjoy life .

love and regards . me .

  • @ ben

It’s only a difference in sense of value, you see the value, i don’t.

A marketing tool is not saying they get this huge profit directly from this one, but it’s a promotion that leads to more future recognition, in a general sense. Rh probably did this for the fans, but I really don’t see the value and meaning to it.

Again those limited editions will be circled around, valued & priced by the people who value them, like any of the ridiculous art pieces or antiques sold today. There’s no right or wrong, really just personal opinion. :-)

  • Very few people now days knows the value of the dollar.
Who in their right mind would pay $16.00 for two songs?
This generations is swimming in fantasy land.
The record is cool but seriously. 8 songs for $48.00
and now 2 songs for $16.00? Really?

You can’t use common sense and see this making sense.

  • they are 180 gram records, which makes a big difference according to quality. If I could buy all my records as 180 gram vinyl I would. Miles Davis kind of blue on 180 gram – fuck. Doesn’t get any better

  • ” Die with the most toys and YOU WIN. “

  • Douche bag says what?

  • F you all. Buying this.

  • Wow. I don’t recall reading so much animosity on this site before. Are people just generally disappointed in KOL, the cost of the single or that the band chose a different distribution and pricing scheme than they used for In Rainbows?

All of these are reasonable topics for conversation and “debate,” but try to be decent to each other.

  • music is in the air, i love radiohead but i think this is for die hard plastic collector wasting money fans, this tracks would be perfect on tkol… just my opinion .

  • I would like to point out that Gaddafi staying and the world not doing anything when we know he has ordered massive rapes

    http://mg.co.za/article/2011-06-09-gaddafi-ordered-mass-rapes-says-icc

is an insult to human beings everywhere, to our morals, to our what God has taught us, and to women, to the human being as a whole.

  • When you were here before
Couldn’t look you in the eye
    You’re just like an angel
    Your skin makes me cry
    You float like a feather
    In a beautiful world
    I wish I was special
    You’re so fucking special

    But I’m a creep
    I’m a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
    I don’t belong here

I don’t care if it hurts
    I want to have control
    I want a perfect body
    I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice when I’m not around
    You’re so fucking special
    I wish I was special

    But I’m a creep
    I’m a weirdo
What the hell I’m doing here?
    I don’t belong here

    She’s running out the door
    She’s running out
    She runs runs runs

    Whatever makes you happy
    Whatever you want
    You’re so fucking special
    I wish I was special

    But I’m a creep
    I’m a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
    I don’t belong here
    I don’t belong here

  • My problem with this, is that I love The Butcher. I ordered the newspaper album, and i’m happy with it.

According to the band, they couldn’t make The Butcher work on the album (whatever the fuck that means). Now they’re releasing what is basically a single for £12. I used to be able to buy vinyl singles in my local HMV for 99p to £3. There is no way in hell £12 is justified, especially when as far as i’m concerned THE BUTCHER SHOULD’VE BEEN ON TKOL.

I just feel a bit bitter that I can’t really afford to buy it for £12, and that technically I should already own this track via the newspaper album. Meh.

  • Happy’ I bought the REALLY limited edition (with the wrong stickers on the wrong side) for just €10,- on recordstroreday in my local record store.

  • I want to buy this from amazon..

  • i like creep and weirdo, idk why, do you?

  • bought it. can’t wait to add it to my collection. there’s something about a physical realease that I can’t put my finger on…I just love it.

if RH really wanted to make me happy, they’d release TKOL on reel to reel….now that would be awesome.

  • doesn’t make sense how a single costs 16 dollars. lame.

  • Inclined to believe the versions of the single that will be worth anything, will be the ones with the manufacturing fault. (Stickers on the wrong side.)

But they’re both effectively b-sides surely?

    Maquiladora
    India Rubber
    Pearly
    Melatonin
    Meeting In The Aisle
    A Reminder
    Lull
    How I Made My Millions

    Now THEY, were good b-sides!

  • Thom, please, rape me

  • BUT could you dance to them?

  • After paying £40 for eight tracks and a newspaper, this doesn’t sound so expensive.

  • Pedalling through
    The dark currents
    I find
    An accurate copy
    A blueprint
    Of the pleasure
    In me

    Swirling black lilies totally ripe
    A secret code carved
    Swirling black lilies totally ripe
    A secret code carved

    He offers
    A handshake
    Crooked
    Five fingers
    They form a pattern
    Yet to be matched

    On the surface simplicity
But the darkest pit in me
    It’s pagan poetry
    Pagan poetry

    Morsecoding signals (signals)
They pulsate (wake me up) and wake me up
    (pulsate) from my hibernating

    On the surface simplicity
    Swirling black lilies totally ripe
But the darkest pit in me
    It’s pagan poetry
    Swirling black lilies totally ripe
    Pagan poetry

    Swirling black lilies totally ripe

I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
I love him, I love him
She loves him, she loves him

    This time
She loves him, she loves him
I’m gonna keep it to myself
She loves him, she loves him
She loves him, she loves him
    This time
I’m gonna keep me all to myself
She loves him, she loves him
And he makes me want to hurt myself again
She loves him, she loves him
She loves him, she loves him
And he makes me want to hurt myself again

  • Look to the clock on the wall
    Hands hardly moving at all
I can’t stand the state that I’m in
Sometimes it feels like the wall’s closing in

Oh Lord what can I say
I’m so sad since you went away
    Time time tickin’ on me
Alone is the last place I wanted to be
    Lord what can I say

Try and burn my troubles away
Drown my sorrow the same way
It seems no matter how hard I try
It feels like there’s something just missing inside

Oh Lord what can I say
I’m so sad since you went away
    Time time tickin’ on me
Alone is the last place I wanted to be
    Lord what can I say
Oh Lord what can I say

How many rules can I break
How many lies can I make
How many roads must I turn
To find me a place where the bridge hasn’t burned

Oh Lord what can I say
I’m so sad since you went away
    Time time tickin’ on me
Alone is the last place I wanted to be

Oh Lord what can I say
I’m so sad since you went away
    Time time tickin’ on me
Alone is the last place I wanted to be
    Lord what can I say
Oh Lord what can I say

  • it’s been quite a emotional journey……

  • i shoev it up my vhole!

  • been malfunctioned since i know you, can’t go on like this anymore…. do you feel my pain? ‎:*(

  • ” I wish I was special
    You’re so fucking special ”

no one is that fucking special, it only exists in our idealistic mind. ask thom if he would write this kind of song today.

oh, wait, thom’s still special in my fantasized mind….

  • @ kyosti

want something to dance to? check out this cd:

    http://www.putumayo.com/en/catalog_item.php?album_id=200

  • you guys realize that a 12″ costs the same amount to produce regardless of how many songs are on it…right?

vinyl’s not cheap. especially heavy vinyl.

  • That makes even less sense to produce a vinyl with 2 songs…. sigh….

  • a 7″ would be well recieved… for £6

  • not sure if the recording of Supercollider/The Butcher are digital or analog? if in digital recording, why bother to get vinyl?

  • waterloo records. Austin TX. 14.99 + gov’t shakedown

If digital recording in studio exceeds (and I think it safely does) 44.1kHz sampling rate @ 16bit, a cd cannot capture all the sound without some compresson/loss. Vinyl can replicate the original source depending on how well the master was “cut”. There are a ton of variables, but short version: you can hear the room and very minor nuances in every track of the recording on vinyl.

Take this vinyl to a hifi shop and demo through a slick turntable and some senn HD800s. You’ll see.

You’ve come a long way, baby.

  • yes… vinyls have come a long way, so am i…

i don’t buy into any hypes easily. it costs to buy all accessories and gadgets to indulge our given senses, but my imagination is freeee……..

    ;-)
