Radiohead release The King Of Limbs From The Basement on YouTube

Radiohead’s session of The King Of Limbs From The Basement is now available on YouTube.

The band played an hour of material from their latest album The King Of Limbs, as well as some bonus tracks (Staircase, The Daily Mail), which didn’t make the album. The full performance is available on Radiohead’s YouTube channel. Enjoy!

I think it’s silly, the bbc doesn’t broadcast it on bbc 1 or 2
so the whole world could enjoy it on t.v.

  • JQM

How come the quality is so low? Maybe they are planning to sell it on itunes or something – wasn’t the previous from the basement session released as a dvd extra for a japanese in rainbows release?

**** radiohead have lost thier classic style ****

self liberation, Radiohead is transforming, adapting, coping, surviving with “reality” (hum…. how ironic, “reality” really? > < )

woke up 7 am , went for vaccines to my cat . i am back , dont know what to do and suddenly TKOL FTB available on utube , quality and beauty finally closer to me , and exactly @ the moment when i have nothing to do . . . .

    god bless this life man

  • ASS YOU WISH

    bitch! :-)

  • Kurticus

You can never watch these for just a few songs and quit. They suck you in. Especially the In Rainbows one.

  • http://www.pearljam.com Moby

    In Rainbows one was better.

  • thank you, AtEase

    YAY!!!! No TV logo!

    …wait…

I wish they would just release this on Blu-ray and DVD…
AND the soundtrack on CD or just vinyl.

  • p

    @kidj : [ K ? ]

    the soundtrack on vinyl ? wow . . . . yesssssssssssssssssssss

  • Amnesiac What?

I promised someone on here that I would listen to it all the way through…..
This is how I break it down…… OUT OF 10.
Bloom 5 Just pitter patter shit
Little by Little 6 Just pitter patter shit
Codex 8 Better if no pitterpatter
Separator 9 The music made this
    Lotus Flower 9 Absolutley gorgeous
Staircase 8 10 if no pitter patter
Morning Mr. Magpie 7 pitter patter less shit
Give up the Ghost 10 No pitter patter shit

The music would of been experimental even without the extra pitter patter shit coming from the over redundant drummer.
I like A Walk Down the Staircase. Just beaustiful raw.
I remember when Thom came out with Morning Mr. Magpie. Just wonderful raw. This one is horrible by comparison.
They left out the Butcher. Hope they don’t shit on that one like they did with the studio version. Still a good song.

I would give the FTB version 2 more points from the TKOL. TKOL is just dubstep garbage. Too much pitter patter garbage.
What will Radiohead do 4 years from now playing a concert and want to play some of these songs? Hope they don’t store an extra drummer in their duffle bag for a Pitter patter shit mix.
I truly think these songs would of sounded new and exciting even without the extra drummer. Too bad.
    What’s done is done.

  • Amnesiac What?

Did you notice how they played the songs that had some substance?

Is it something new? I thought I had already seen this show “From the Basement”.

Beyond the remixes, are Radiohead now starting to recycle as well??

    NEW SONGS GUYS!!!!
You’re torturing me with all these releases…
Maybe you have found out SADISM IS THE NEXT MARKETING STRATEGY, uh????

  • Princeps

I really love this performance, just about every song on here is awesome or improved, maybe with the exception of Separator. MMM is really awesome in this performance and I wish they had added the edge they have here to the recording. I really didn’t like Little By Little on the album, the performance improves it a little because Thom’s Vocal’s aren’t so grating.

I find the different rhythms and syncopation really neat, honestly as good as the In Rainbows FTB performance was this one just feels so complex and engaging.

  • pitterPATter(ha my names pat)

Will it be made available to download a la In Rainbows Basement session on iTunes, does anyone know?

  • anon

daily mail reminds me that rh can still write decent songs when they put their mind to it why it wasnt on the album i never know!

  • time goes on

ok….., i’m very puzzled in understanding this science, how can explosion of matter & antimatter become “nothingness” or “non existence”, i mean isn’t universe part of existence, those particles and antiparticles are part of existence, right??

i mean, human science can hit road blocks by our limited given senses, since we will always project things by what we are only capable of….

whether there’s a creator is irrelevant to me, i’m more curious in why/reason for creation, not those rhetoric reasons from any religion on earth…., just rambling….. :P

  • doubts

can anyone tell me why a fan of Rh should continue their loyalty and love when Rh is not so much into these qualities for their fans these days??

  • Amnesiac What?

    @ time goes on

What the world does not dare to reveal in its matter is that you are the only reason the matter of space and time were created.

It was created to share with you from the creator. The world at every opportunity makes you just matter and reveals science as it eventually finds it themselves. Never revealing its true nature.
God exists but science has fail to record it therefore it doesn’t exist. Pretty lame science if you ask me. That’s like saying gravity didn’t exist until Newton recorded it. People felt it and A LOT of people tried to explain it. Well, people feel God and have tried to explain it. Just because we as humans have not fully explained him does not mean he doesn’t exist. People still feel him pushing on us just like gravity did before Newton’s explanation.
Its truly up to you to discover this truth. I have.
I was walking through a field at 18(not on any drugs and I am not delusional or schizophrenic. I work in a mental hospital and if you believe that you obviously have not studied that mental illness) I floated above my body and floated back. I instantly knew God. I finished walking home and my friend Brian Martinez was waiting for me in his truck. He said to get in. When I asked him where are we going. He said to church.

You are created by God to experience Love and His presence. Sorry the world is talking again. This is all just rhetoric until SCIENCE gives the official answer.

  • surtnap

    @doubts

don’t blow your mind with why

  • time goes on

    @ Amnesiac What?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. One has to personally experience certain emotions, physically or mentally (or both intertwined), or gifted with ability to feel other’s emotions, to truly understand what those emotions feel and mean…., our body does strange things to make us sense and go to a total unfamiliar, at times scary territories, most people choose not to face them to look deeper, but when we do, those “moment of truth” only exists in our own sense and experience.

I apologize if this sounds strong, I’m a non believer, in the sense of all religions’ doctrines, prophecies and religious rituals, that includes from Christianity, Taoism…..to Buddhism….etc.

….also I don’t wait for science to prove or disapprove if or not there’s a creator, I found those headlines funny but arrogant, every time it says “science is closer to prove this and that…. blah blah….”. Our present approach of science is a good tool to understand ourselves better than to prove or disapprove the existence or non existence of creation. Just my 2 cents current thoughts, who knows, I’m open for changes….. ☮

  • Kurticus

I’m sick of people saying King of Limbs is dub step. Actually, I’m sick of just everything electronic being labeled as dub step now. Sure, it is obvious that there is dub step influence, but to just label it as such is just limiting your own creative interpretation.

  • Somebody think of the children

Who gives 2 fooks. Fuck radiohead lets all sneak off on them till they do something productive.
Next album best be great or im done and dusted. The only thing id part money with regard to Radiohead now would be to see thom yorke dressed as Captain Planet everytime he spouts on about saving us all from certain doom on DAS I might take money bags seriously then.

  • KidAmnesiac

  • finding & believing

If we are true to ourselves and sincere to others, why need to change just because others don’t believe in those values.

we might’ve been deceived or played, that doesn’t “threaten” any of core value in terms of treating others. Don’t expect any changes….

really? I don’t think Lady Gaga has any formulas, that’s why her performance sucks so bad…., she probably needs to hire a new “group of” management team to make her at least not a victim of a poor performer.

@ Lala, yeah, I agree with you, I mean formulas to sell, not to make relevant music. :)

  • lala

    @ davinci

    Yup! in full agreement.

She can’t be a great screen writer, cause she’s not into plotting, she can’t be a great mathematician, cause she’s not into calculating, she can’t be a great musician, cause her music sucks all the waaayyyy……., she basically lacks great talents, that’s why every things coming out of her is crap, this has been confirmed by numerous Rh fans already, needless to say….

So fuck Lady Gaga, long live Radiohead!

Seems to me some people on here fundamentally misunderstand how artists — not moneymaking machines, but artists — work. The artists sets out first and foremost to make something that he or she likes, something the artist deems good and worthy. With Radiohead especially, it is NOT and maybe never was about pleasing fans. If they were just money-grubbing whores, they never would have chanced it and made Kid A. Why do that when they could have just made OK Computer 2 and sold a million zillion units? Because that’s not what they wanted to do. Might have been what a lot of fans wanted, but that is NOT the starting point for generating inspired work in any medium. In the end, pandering is a loss for the panderer and the panderee, if you will.

If you don’t like it, oh well, but I doubt the band is losing any sleep over what you think. And as to the criticisms about Thom Yorke speaking his mind on global warming, I for one applaud him for using the limited platform he has to fight for something he believes in. If we’re to do much of anything about it we’ve got to act collectively, and we’re running out of time. 98% of the scientific community agrees with that conclusion, but if you want to be part of the 2% that sticks their heads in the sand, well … better make it tar sand then.

  • inspired by your thought

**** and art is objective ****

Art and music is the same as everything else when it comes to personal preference, totally totally….”SUBjective”. When things are so so soooo….. personal, we learn to draw a respectful distance from the difference. We can exchange thoughts of likes and dislikes, we also have the freedom to walk away holding onto our preference.

Can you love everyone in the way you love someone very special to you? I know I can’t….yet…

ps. after years of observation, harmony doesn’t mean we need to hug each others, smile at each others all the time, harmony is a respectful distance & tolerance, i mean literally speaking.

I never like the tunes of Supercollider, plus being naturally happily born as a simple shallow person, any song has multiple hidden meanings just flew over my head, like you know, how most people have radar built in their system, but somehow I’m not equipped with that, lots of missing links built in for sure… :D

i am just super impressed by the quality of their performance on these new tracks. when i first heard TKOL, and esp. after multiple listens, i was very curious on how these would sound live, or if they’d have to change up the songs in order to play them. of course, Radiohead never fails to amaze, and this performance can stand toe to toe with their 2008 From the Basement. these guys are literally on a whole nother level than ANY other musician, and although most people would agree with me years back, and since have lost faith in that remark, i believe they still are on that untouchable level and will never leave it. plain and simple: Radiohead is THE greatest band to ever grace the people of this earth’s souls. they just dont play easy-listening music, they move souls to places musicians before/after could ever dream of. These guys are/always will be the real fucking deal.

  • true fan

My journey of being a Radiohead fan –

I remember how I first started to become a Radiohead fan, they overwhelmed me, I love them so much to a point I think I needed professional consultation :D

I become fascinated but bit confused by the fantasy world of the music they put out, those tunes move and stir my souls, so did my expectation and anxiety started to build, wishing someday I could become physically closer to them, like going to their concert, needless to say it’s impossible I will get a chance to talk to them directly, just like talking to your friends in a warm and casual manner…..

But I come to realize not only they are “untouchable”, they also intend to be unreachable, this kind of strategy only builds more expectation and anxiety, for quite some time. But I’ve learned to respect their strategy whatever the end goal is of. Being a fan, all I can do is to enjoy their output, if they want to become reachable, they will come up a way to reach out to their fans, they know how to, because they are simply brilliant people. <3
