Radiohead live in Newark – Live Report

Tonight marks the first of two shows in which Radiohead are accomplishing two unique things: forcing Manhattanites out of their precious home and causing a disruption of the Stanley Cup Finals. Nice work, boys. Anyway, tonight in Newark, New Jersey Radiohead will take the stage at the Prudential Center. You can expect the band to hit the stage between 8:30 and 8:45.

Once again the fantastic Caribou will be opening the show. Check back here later for live updates as the setlist comes in. Maybe something brand new tonight? And as always you can follow the @Radioheadlive account where, if all goes to plan, Ade will be updating live from the venue giving me a night off from the Twitter feed. We’ll also be sure to pass on any live streaming info if we get any.

  • I hate sports, so thank you, Radiohead.

    • you must have a vagina…

  • Manhattan already had 2 Roseland shows, and there were a couple times where fans could of waited to see them for free to record television shows. They are smart on this venue as well so you won’t get as many careless fans out there who go to shows just to hang out, or party. In my experience, most people in NYC are usually bored or talk a lot at shows. When I grew up in New Jersey, there was maybe only 1 Radiohead fan per high school. So not only does this help the NJ fans still get a chance to see them, but also just filters the fans from NYC who truly care.

    • Still…it’s Newark. It shouldn’t have to be this way.

  • Is it normal that we don’t see anything on the stream?

  • nice stream…

  • You and Whose Army! Very cool.

Victory Brewing Co. pre show party @ Edison Ale House on Friday! See you there!

  • I wish I could see Radiohead live again *sighs*

  • This was my first Radiohead concert, been a fan for ten years since Kid A came out. This concert was everything I expected it to be and more. Yeah, they didn’t play Paranoid Android but the high quality of B sides and other greatest hits made up for it. The entire band was into the gig as well as the audience. The two highlights for me were when everyone sang with Thom on Karma Police and when they performed Weird Fishes, my favorite song. Thanks Radiohead for the best concert for me yet.

    • they didnt play any b sides?

    • Supercollider, Staircase & The Daily Mail are all sort of b-sides, although it’s a gray area now that they don’t really release singles the same way. Also, Identikit is unreleased, which puts it sort of in that b-sides realm.

    • Yeah those are the songs I was talking about: Supercollider, Staircase, The Daily Mail Identikit… They really sounded great live.

    • The Supercollider / The Butcher B sides were released pretty legitimately. They did that Record Store Day vinyl release of it.

  • Probably get shot down in flames for this, but here goes…
Do they have to play the Gloaming, Idioteque, and as has been the case lately, have 15 step as the second song at every show.
We all know its not a greatest hits tour and I like those songs, and certainly I am not one of the ‘play creep’ crowd, but there are so many songs to play.

    • The second drummer limits what songs they can arrange for this line up.
Plus, they seem to really enjoy playing these songs…….
I agree ( would love to see different songs ) but am just so happy I can see them at all.
Saw Tuesday in Mass and surprised the set was so similar…..but that tells me the band liked it too. No doubt tonights show will yeild a few surprises, as opposed to no surprises.
      Wish I could be there.

    • They certainly seem a lot more relaxed on this tour, and thats coming across in the performances by all accounts, long may it continue and cant wait for the show in London, even if they play gloaming & idioteque

  • Collina, agree with you on Idioteque and the gloaming. How about these are my twisted words. I’m not sure the band recognizes just how good that sounds live. Still by far the best band in the world.

  • Great show last night. Here’s a video I took of them playing The Daily Mail

  • Radiohead won’t play MSG because of the NY legislation banning paperless tickets. All premium seats for Radiohead shows are paperless and NJ has no such law against it, so they play there. No problem. The Rock is a great venue, two blocks from all trains and great restaurants in the Ironbound. Show was great last night, and KOL material filled the arena better than I expected it to.

    • Too bad even paperless ticke holders need to wear paper bracelets to enter the show. It is a super inconvenience to have a paperless ticket. You’ve got to wait on line for hours to enter the arena. Oh, and the Roseland shows, IN NYC, were paperless.
