Radiohead live in Cuyahoga Falls – Live Report

Tonight in Cuyahoga Falls/Cleveland Radiohead continue their 2012 tour with a show at the Blossom Music Center. This marks the second night in a row the band have played in Ohio after last night’s show in Cincinnati. You can expect Radiohead to be on stage around 8:45 after Caribou have finished their set.

As always we’ll be updating this post with the setlist as it comes in and maybe even some soundcheck news if we get it. You can also follow our @Radioheadlive twitter account for live setlist updates as well. At least they’ve worked out those Idioteque problems now.

In addition, if reception (and battery life) in the venue cooperates you may be able to live stream the gig here.

    840 est not 740 est…my bad…streaming then..,

  • http://twitter.com/Muldfeld Muldfeld

It would be so cool if the band had streaming footage of their rehearsals, but I guess it’d get self-conscious. Just reading the words “unknown song” is making me super excited!

  • Ryculver

I’m jealous of Ohio for the first time in my life… I might be wrong…..lucky

  • Dan Coles

I really hope they play a few off of Amnesiac in Camden….

WhAT THE HELL THOM. YOU ARE KILLING ME HERE

Like spinning plates… Is it a new live arrangement or is it piano version like played before?

Better than both Newark shows I was at. The peaks were as high or higher than any Radiohead show I’ve seen – everything felt kind of sterile and tentative at first, and then just built and built and built from Arpeggi all the way through the end. Thom was really feeling it, kept yelling THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

    NOTES:
The sound started out awful, but got figured out by the time 15 Step was over.

Kid A: Thom on the vocoder is badass. Nice touch.

IMBW: Clive on tambourine frees up Thom to double the riff with Jonny. Sounds huge, and when they both play the bridge riff and the whole band slows down, it’s amazing.

Spinning Plates: Not sure who was doing what, but there were some really beautiful, backwards-sounding textures that were never there before.

Climbing Up the Walls: Holy shit! Jonny caught a life insurance ad from the radio that started the song: “You’ve thought about what would happen if you lose your job, but what about if your family loses you… you… you.. you..” Ed plays all of Jonny’s lead guitar parts and kills it, Jonny mostly sits out the song on radio until he COMPLETELY takes it over on the solo with the Martenot. Best this song has ever sounded. Thom screaming into his acoustic guitar to end it as always.

House of Cards: Grooved harder than I’ve ever heard it. Sometimes this song drags the momentum down, tonight it felt really energetic.

Myxomatosis: Thom’s changed the lyrics to the end of the verse:

“It must have got mixed up
    Strangled beaten up
    I got myxomatosis
    I got myxomatosis”

is now something that ends with “mafia geeks.” The way he performs it makes it feel like a hip-hop track.

Supercollider: Is turning into one of the best songs of the set. Builds and builds forever, and Jonny’s rhythmic stuff on the hollow-body bass is crazy.

Reckoner: There are some gorgeous vocal harmonies at the end by Thom and Ed that have never been there before.

    YES.

I was in the pit again for this show ( 3rd time). The other shows (2003 & 2008) were better. But, it is still Radiohead and a great show. I was surprised on the 3 HUGE mistakes.
    1. Idiotech was off for the first verse. I think Ed came in early. I’ll see if it is on YouTube.
    2. Phil messed up the big drum fill as he comes in on Exit Music.
    3. Johnny ended the looped track at the end of Ghost before Thom was done.

Just keep making music Radiohead! You guys are one of the only groups left expanding the musical soundscape Boundries!

Thanks for the blow by blow.

    1. Yeah, things were a little out of sync at first, but they got it straightened out by around the 30 second mark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pNyiDGhkzk&feature=related

    Ahh. That was amazing.
I taped, the audio is in the 2012 Audio thread.
I also got video of the whole show (coming in the next week or so), and 2 unknown soundchecked songs (on youtube now).

  • MistakesMistaken

    Well, it’s not really new.
Listen to Remyxomatosis, released on Com Lag in 2004.

These are also the lyrics in the album booklet.

  • MistakesMistaken

No one likes a smart arse, but we all like stars.
That wasn’t my intention, I did it for one reason.
(And) he shakes hands with the cripples and gave them warm milk.
He did a few card tricks for his mafia geeks.

My guess is this was originally recorded like this, then Godrich mixed it all together to make it sound the way it does on the album.

He’s been doing Myxo like that for ages. In Rainbows from the basement he does it in too.

  • Joe

They need to stop opening with Bloom immediately.
