THOM ON SUPPORT AT TENT TOUR
[31-05-00]

Thom Yorke appeared at the messageboad for a short while: his answer on which bands will be supporting radiohead on their tour in september: "probably well change as the tour goes on. its possible we might have two supports. it depends on logistics in the tent. im trying to keep an open mind, see who can fit in where. doesnt help much does it? sigur sent me their album which is really great. theres lots of other possibilities though. are we spreading ourselves a little thin? im surprised about how much im getting to like the broadcast album. its really growing on me. but we want to ask a load of electro people as well. no names really yet."

thom also answered the following message by frouser: i wonder if Thom and Tanya will duet again. his duet with Tanya Donelly with the song Untogether is so cool. i love playing it. thom: "um i doubt it. i loved that song though. bye"

ALBUM RELEASE: OCTOBER 2nd 2000?
[30-05-00]

It's very likely that the album will be out on October 2nd 2000, according to EMI sources. Some singles from the Bends and OK Computer will probably be reissued. But this all unconfirmed by the band at the moment.

[thanks Christian]

THOM'S PAGE UPDATED
[30-05-00]

well, that's it. some nice pictures are added: www.radiohead.com/thom.html. Also on the official website: a confirmation of 3 dates in September: www.radiohead.com/toursep.html

Thom and Stanley also appeared on the radiohead messageboard today. Thom confirmed that 'big ideas' won't be on the upcoming release.

But Thom left shortly. Here's why:

blah blah..now that we're big stars we don't have to support our local music scene..HUH!
: : : : : (bone to pick)

: : : : oh here we go. im bound to have fucked off somebody. (THOM)

: : : or do you not reply more than once?

: : elaborate. or not. (THOM)

: answer if you can't be bothered...
: i've heard you tell people (your fans) to fuck off if they approach you on the street. is that true?

if i cant handle it then yes. if im fucked up in th head then yes. if i see them again then i would apologise. i am not perfect. i am not very good when people prvoke me. i react. when someone is in you face. interupting you when you are talkign to a loved one. if they are rude. insistent. arrogant and i am not in the mood i will react. if they come up to me in a club pissed out of their head and start drawling away to show off to their mates then i often cant think of much to say. this is why sometimes o dont go out. this is why i often leave the message board. like now. goodbye. (THOM)

RADIOHEAD TALK TO THE PRESS
[29/30-05-00]

Colin and Jonny were interviewed in the "Isabelle" radio show on Radio 3fm in the Netherlands, where the Greenwood brothers also played some of their favourite records.

Here's what they said about the new album: Radiohead recorded 40 songs for the new album. They tried to record as many songs as they could. There's a different approach for every song. Colin would describe it as a dark record. Colin said: "If you like things like "Exit Music (for a film)", Talk Show Host" and "Airbag" you will like the new album, because it's got songs similar to that. And also some experimentation with electronic music as well that we're sort of getting into."  Isabelle asked what their favourite Radiohead songs are. Jonny said: We have just been rehearsing some of the old songs last week. "Street Spirit" just sounded great. I've kinda forgotten what a good song that was. Colin likes "The Tourist and Talk Show Host. I like the slow ones, cause i'm older than Jonny". The band haven't decided anything on the new album's title. They've got about 7 titles to chose from.

Colin and Jonny also talked about their upcoming European tour. Radiohead will do their their tour in a big tent. Jonny: "We don't want to play in those venues that are designed for sport and have  Coca Cola adverts everywhere. That's not what we want to do really" We'll make our own neutral space that's got nothing in it and play some concerts like that". Playing in tents on their tour is not the reason for not playing on the big festivals in Europe this year. Jonny:"There some good festivals and bad ones. We really enjoyed playing Roskilde, Glastonbury and Lowlands. We had some bad experiences in Germany. Colin: "The important reason for not playing Pinkpop is that we've already played Glastonbury before the release of Ok Computer and we just don't repeat what we've done before and which is playing a big festival before the release of an album."

The band also commented on the split-up of the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan said that one of the reasons of the split was that they don't want to compete with all the Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys acts. He thinks there's no room for serious music. Isabelle asked what Jonny and Colin felt about that. Jonny: "It's a bit heavy isn't it. I don't think that there are a lot of people with Britney Spears AND Billy Corgan posters up their walls. Well, Colin does, but...I don't think he's in strict competition with Britney Spears"

audio clips of the interview are available in the multimedia section.

UNBELIEVABLE TRUTH FEATURING JONNY GREENWOOD
      [23-05-00]

The Unbelievable Truth website has been updated with an exlusive download of a UT song featuring Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood.

It was the first song Unbelievable Truth had ever recorded, back in 1993, probably even the first song Andy Yorke ever wrote. Not that much to say about it, really. It was recorded in Nigel's bedroom, and at the time they were trying to carve a sound like Throwing Muses, or somesuch other jagged Americana. Jim Warren came along to the first part of the recording, which was everything except the electric guitar, with Ken Turner playing the rhythmic acoustic part. The electric part was added by Jonny Greenwood a little while later, Nigel rather enjoyed the interactivity of that session, since he was fading the phasing effect in and out as he played the part. It was on the first demos Unbelievable Truth sent out, but they'd quickly begun moving in a more stripped back acoustic direction, so this song fell from grace quickly.

The address is www.unbelievable-truth.com. Check out the update section. (Thanks Marc Gommans)
