BAND TO PLAY U.S IN OCTOBER?
[28-07-00] In
the radiohead newsgroup alt.music.radiohead Zach Proulx revealed
that radiohead will be doing two gigs in America late October.
Zach visited the Radiohead office a while ago and this is what
he heard: "One will be in New York City and the other in
Los Angeles. Then they will probably do a more lengthy tour in
the states a few months later."
Note: let's say this is a rumour... we'll just see what happens
COLIN ON NAPSTER
[28-07-00]
Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood was interviewed on the
BBC news programme Newsnight last night (July 27) about the implications
for the music industry of a California Court ruling in favour
of the Recording Industry Association Of America - effectively
forcing Napster to remove all copyrighted MP3 files by midnight
tonight.
"We have just finished a tour, we played in
Barcelona, the next day the entire performance was up on Napster
and three weeks later when we got to play in Israel the audience
knew the words to all the new songs and it was wonderful.
"Digital music is just one of many things that
contribute to an artist getting their message across and of course
it is going to change record companies are going to have to embrace
it and change with it and find different ways of getting revenue,
maybe using Napster as a business model for their own on-line
thing." [from NME.com, read the full

TREEFINGERS = INSTRUMENTAL
[21-06-00] Radiohead gave the general public the first chance
to hear their eagerly-awaited new album, 'KID A' last night, which
received its first playbacks to selected members of the press
in Los Angeles and New York.
One member of the press who was present and heard the album told
nme.com: "Not surprisingly, the album shows the band taking
even more experimental risks, but they make the trip worthwhile,
ranging from layered washes on the instrumental 'Treefingers'
to harder-edged, percussive electronica on 'Idioteque'."
The final tracklisting also contains a short, secret track at
the end. Go to nme.com for the full story.
All details on 'kid a' can be found here.

STREET SPIRIT REMIXED
[18-07-00]
One of dance music's legends, Englishman Paul Oakenfold, and one of its rising stars,
Los Angeles' Sandra Collins, ripped
though high-voltage sets on the turntables for several thousand
thrill-seeking dancers at Manhattan's Roseland Ballroom Thursday
night.
The highest — and most telling — point in Oakenfold's set came
as the diminutive but dapper Brit dropped an intense, pounding
remix of Radiohead's "Street Spirit" into
the mix, which in its original form is one of the band's softest
and sparsest songs. The move worked the crowd into a wild frenzy.
So much for Thom Yorke's introspection; they were in the
hands of a DJ tonight. [from SonicNet]

Nme.com reported the following:
Colin Greenwood revealed that the record will feature the tracks
'Optimistic', 'The National Anthem', 'Everything In Its Right
Place', 'Kid A', 'How To Disappear ' and 'Motion Picture Soundtrack',
as well as between four and six other new tracks, which are rumoured
to include ‘In Limbo’, ‘Idioteque’, ‘Egyptian Song’ and ‘Morning

He added: "We've mastered
the first record and it should be out at the end of September.
We've done lots more recordings and we're trying to find the right
way to release more of the songs...we want to find a way of releasing
the other songs we've recorded, not just on EPs, and put it together
as another piece of work...we've got lots of other songs that
we want to release sooner rather than later.
When questioned about industry
rumours that the album title is 'Kid A', he said: "That's
a very good guess, yes! I think that's pretty good! I think so,
yeah." but there's more. read the full article at

RADIOHEAD
IN LONDON
[02-07-00] Radiohead played
at the Royal Festival Hall Saturday night performing 10 new songs.
Morning Bell was announced by Thom: "This is
a song about amnesia." The frontman made way for guitarist
Jonny Greenwood, who took centre-stage while Yorke played piano.
The audience were mesmerised by the song, with its almost hypnotic
repetition of the word "walking" over the three minute
or so duration, with guitarist Ed O’Brien lending vocal harmonies.
‘You And Who’s Army’,was introduced with "
This is dedicated to Tony Blair. I’m only disappointed I never
got to shake his hand," before launching into the barbed
lyrics "you and your cronies come out..."
