LOS ANGELES TICKETS SOLD OUT!
[30-09-00] The tickets
for Radiohead's concert at the Los Angeles Greek Theatre has sold
out in only 5 minutes time. The gig in LA was the only appearance
in the US apart from Radiohead's performances on Saturday Night
Live and Morning Becomes Eclectic. W.A.S.T.E. will probably sell
some tickets to fanclub members on their website soon.
KID A - NOT A PERFECT CLONE
[30-09-00] Radiohead's 'Kid
A' is dedicated to the first human clone, but cloning ordinary
cd's is not working too well at the moment. The release of Kid
A, friday in Europe, resulted in lots of mispressings. The
CD starts with a 40 second live recording of a different band,
which makes all the songs start 40 seconds later than the track
mark.
So far, most of the releases in the Netherlands and Belgium are
'messed up'. So are the French versions, which aren't even on
sale, because of the error. Record label EMI stopped distribution
of all copies. A release in France is not expected before the
actual release date of October 2nd. Only pre-ordered copies at
french online stores were sent out .
Some international online stores sent the correct versions.

place' starts: click here.

MORE ON THAT 5TH
ALBUM
[26-09-00] Ed and Phil did an hour
long interview with Paul Anderson from XFM
in London yesterday. They talked about the album, the 'creative
process' and touring. They revealed that the talked-about fifth
LP is all recorded (it will use almost entirely material from
the Kid A sessions) and they just have to decide on a track listing,
although they indicated that songs such as 'Knives Out', 'Dollars
and Cents', 'I Might Be Wrong' and 'Egyptian Song' were almost
certain to make the cut. No release date has been decided, but
they would like to get something out as soon as possible - they
speculated March/April 2001, but that depends entirely on what
happens in the mean time. They will be heading back into the studio
in November to carry on recording more new material.[thanks Max]

NME REVIEWS
KID A
[26-09-00] The NME put a 'Kid A'
review online: "The unbearable heaviness
of being Radiohead continues. Following the equivalent birth pains
of a medium-sized galaxy, 'Kid A' arrives amidst the most fantastic
stories of artistic constipation: abortive recording sessions,
writer's block, band members wondering just what the hell it was
they
were meant to be doing, Doomsday scenarios around every corner.
Seemingly overwhelmed by the exorbitant praise heaped upon 'OK
Computer', Radiohead elected to get in touch with their avant-garde
side, that time (dis)honoured escape clause in the white liberal
rock star's lexicon of How To Deal With Success. But although
they might disavow the process, Radiohead have been complicit
in their own deification through sheer aptitude. Now, predictably,
in attempting to reinvent themselves as a more elusive entity,
they've made a record that by its mere existence will only heighten
the intrigue and intensify their global cult". Read
the full review here.

I THINK I'M MEANT
TO BE DEAD...
[22-09-00] The Guardian (UK) published
an interview with Thom Yorke today. In the interview he talks
about the Jubilee 2000: "I'm a champagne
socialist, apparently," he grimaces. "Someone
called me that last night, I got into a massive row with him.
I don't really care what methods are used to make the IMF and
World Bank so incredibly unpopular that they dismantle it. I don't
really care how it happens, as long as it happens. That's the
point.". And about the time after OK Computer:
"There's nothing more boring than a rock'n'roll star,"
he continues, "someone who has been on the
road for 10 years, expecting attention wherever he goes, drinking
himself stupid, who is obnoxious, incoherent, uncreative and has
a massive ego. There's nothing more pointless. "And I think by
this time I am supposed to have fucked myself up permanently,
or be dead," he adds wryly. "I'm supposed to be so fucked up now
that I can't work anymore. But I'm not. And that meant that I
had to take a bit of responsibility for what I'm doing. But I'm
not 'being responsible' - you can't be responsible in an 'adult'
way about it, either."
Thom Yorke appeared on The Big Breakfast on Channel 4 Uk TV this
morning. In a pre recorded interview, he talked about Jubilee
2000 and the Drop the Debt campaign. (thanks to Bryan Stephens)

RADIOHEAD IN NIJMEGEN
(2)
[17-09-00] Here's
a short impression of Radiohead's 2nd gig in Nijmegen (Netherlands).
Again, a great set with a few changes compared to the previous
night. No cover song this night, but an acoustic 'killer cars'.
Thom didn't say much, but he seemed in a good mood and was more
talktive than last night. 'Morning Bell' was announced as: 'this
is a song about amnesia'. 'Karma Police': "this one's for
the girl dressed like a fairy. We're dressing up tonight".
Just before 'Egyptian song' Thom got a big balloon with Bert (you
know, the one without a last name who lives with Ernie:)) on it.
Thom attached the balloon to the piano while playing "egyptian
song". As mentioned a few weeks ago, Dutch Radio station
3FM will broadcast this show in two parts, starting on September
30th.
The full setlist:

RADIOHEAD IN NIJMEGEN
[16-09-00] Radiohead
played their first gig in Nijmegen last night for 10.000 people
at the Goffertpark. It was the first dutch gig since Oktober 1997
(apart from Jonny & Thom's appearance at the Tibetan Freedom
Concert in '99).
The band played a great set. The audience was able to view the
concert on video screens as well, which was done very good. Not
the usual static stuff you get to see at big concerts. The setlist
was quite similar to the previous ones on the tent tour. "I
might be wrong" was played again. This was the first time
i heard the full band version. Really excellent. Just like the
gigs in Copenhagen and Werchter last week, a cover song was included
again: The Thief (Can).
Here's the full set: national anthem * morning bell * lucky *
you and whose army * optimistic * street spirit * the bends *
paranoid android * in limbo * dollars and cents * climbing up
the walls * exit music * pearly * how to disappear completely
* idioteque * just * everything in it's right place * ENCORE #1:
airbag * i might be wrong * the thief * nice dream * ENCORE #2:

VPRO INTERVIEW - THOM
YORKE
[15-09-00] Journalist
Gijsbert Kamer (Volkskrant & Loladamusica) was interviewed
for VPRO's Radio 3voor12 where he talked about Radiohead's show
in Copenhagen, Kid A and his interview with Thom Yorke. The interview
was for VPRO Television's show 'Loladamusica' (soon to be broadcast
in the Netherlands). There were certain issues that he wouldn't
discus such as his position in the band and the 'writer's block'
before the recordings of 'Kid A'. Thom Yorke told he had
to be convinced by the other band members to start another tour.
The last tour was just six months too long and that really depressed
Yorke. The song 'How to disappear...' is about that previous period.
He also explained that he doesn't believe in the rock/guitar music
as a way to express his creativity. He's fed up with the rock
world, as played on the previous albums. But asked why the band
still plays those old songs with the same devotion as the new
ones. Thom Yorke answered that he's still proud of the old ones.

KID A BEFORE IT'S
RELEASE?
[15-09-00] Want
to help a good cause? Capitol Records and Radiohead are auctioning
off one Sony Music Clip encoded with KID A on eBay. All proceeds
will go to The Milarepa Fund. The auction will only last for seven
days, ending on September 21st at approximately 1pm PT. The highest
bidder will receive the Radiohead Music Clip at least a week before
the album is in stores. The walkman, a SONY MC-P10 Music Clip
Personal Network Player, is also not yet in stores. It is a digital
player that can store MP3's or your own cd's and connects to your
Windows 98 machine through a USB port. Headphones and all hardware
are included. First launched in 1994 in conjunction with the Beastie
Boys, The Milarepa Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated
to the promotion of universal compassion and nonviolence. As an

social change that the Tibetan struggle embodies, and we support
the youth of the world who represent a powerful vehicle to achieve
that change. To bid go here http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/radioheadcharity
CANADA'S XFM IN TROUBLE?
[14-09-00] XFM
in Canada had obtained and broadcast a digital copy of the track
'Optimistic' ahead of its official radio release. The station
was issued with a notice from Radiohead’s label EMI to cease and
desist playing the song until the album’s official release to
radio. The station complied, but the story then emerged on the
front cover of the Vancouver Sun. Talking to local newspaper the
Vancouver Province, David Hawkes, director of marketing and artist
relations for XFM, said: "I would imagine (EMI) is pretty
pleased because they got a nice colour photo of the band on the
front cover. That's the ironic thing. We've created more of a
splash for the upcoming Radiohead release than they have."
He continued: "We did more marketing for this band in this
market (Canada) than its marketing people did, that's the reality
of it. Six months ago I think there'd be problems. But two weeks
before the release, it creates a little storm."

5TH ALBUM NEXT SPRING
[13-09-00] Radiohead are in the studio working on a new album,
due for release in Spring 2001, just six months after their new,
'KID A' album is out, nme.com revealed. The album is believed
to contain the more accessible, commercial material which the
band have written and recorded over the last two years and will
be promoted by a full-scale tour of the UK and Europe. Songs tipped
to appear on the new album include 'Knives Out', 'Egyptian Song'
and 'Dollars And Cents' which the band have played on recent live
outings. Unlike 'Kid A', which frontman Thom Yorke allegedly wanted
to name 'ENC' to stand for 'Emperor's New Clothes', the 2001 Radiohead
album is expected to be accompanied by single releases and promotional
duties. [read the full nme story]

AMSTERDAM KID A PLAYBACK
[06-09-00]
The press' playback of 'Kid A' took
place in Amsterdam on Monday September 4th. Here's a review from dutch newspaper
'Algemeen Dagblad' (sorry, only in Dutch)
LAST NIGHT'S U.S. PLAYBACK
[06-09-00] Over 150 Radiohead fans were turned away from a multi-media
playback of 'KID A' at the Imax Theatre in New York last night
(September 5). nme.com joined the 600 fans who were lucky enough
to get tickets for the first public airing of the album almost
a month before it’s US release. Tickets for the showing in the
seven-story theatre had been available on the door from 6pm on
a first-come, first-served basis. Unlike the 'Kid A' playbacks
in the UK so far, the US playback was multi-media. As the Radiohead
faithful trooped into the auditorium, they were handed a pair
of 3-D glasses to absorb the aquarium-like visuals that accompanied
the playback. A representative from the band’s US record label
Capitol introduced the album, warning the audience to "expect
the unexpected," adding that the 3-D visuals had not been
specially created for the performance. In addition to the fans
who made it in to the playback, Beastie Boys’ DJ Mixmaster Mike
was also in attendance. [from nme.com] Read the full story here.

RADIOHEAD BEST BAND EVER?
[05-09-00] Thats the word on the web with news that
Radiohead and the Beatles scored big on the latest 'Best Albums
Of All Time' list. Between them, the Beatles and Radiohead filled
the Top 5 in the Virgin All Time Top 1,000 Albums tome. Revolver
scored top spot from a voting pool of 200,000 punters and music
journos. In second place was Radiohead's 1995 album, The Bends,
followed by the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, OK Computer
and The White Album. The Beatles also came in at number 8 with
Abbey Road. Such lists are nearly always dominated by records
made way back in the mists of time, so it's a milestone in modern
pop that a band formed less than ten years ago has enough pull
to challenge the all-time greats. (The last edition of the book
came out in 1998 with The Bends and OK Computer at number 10 and
number 21, respectively.) "I think we've been searching for
many years for a legitimate replacement to the dinosaur bands,"
said the book's editor, Colin Larkin. Further evidence of a minor
changing of the guard comes with the revelation that the Rolling
Stones don't even rate a mention in the top ten. Not that the
oldies are under-represented. Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks
and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon took out possies 7 and
9 respectively. That final two places went to R.E.M.'s Automatic
For The People (number 6) and The Smiths' The Queen Is Dead (number
10), thus confirming that both groups have truly achieved Triple
M-approved 'classic rock' status.

www.krockradio.com, the special screening will be a no holds barred
multi-media presentation that you do not want to miss. Unfortunately,
most of you out there will indeed miss it, because not everyone
has the pleasure of living in New York, and secondly, there are
only a very limited number of tickets available for the common-folk.
