TRENT REZNOR ON 'KID A'

[30-12-00] Trent
Reznor of NIN had some nice things to say in the upcoming AP about
Radiohead's Kid A: "It's a tough climate when you're on a
major label trying to do anything that requires a little attention.
Now, a good exception to that is-I think the new Radiohead record
is really good. And I was never a Radiohead fan, because with
"Creep" I lumped them into gimmicky, slacker crap rock. But I
think [Kid A] is a daring record; it's interesting to me. "

MORE DETAILS ON 'AMNESIAC'

[27-12-00] Radiohead have
confirmed a few more details about 'Amnesiac'.
The opening track will be 'Po
Pad' - according to Ed, it's a particularly upbeat and 'poppy'
track for Radiohead. The final track will be an awesome version
of 'Living in a Glass House', featuring a part performed by jazz
trumpeter and broadcaster Humphrey Lyttleton and written by Jonny.
Other tracks include 'Pyramid Song', 'Knives Out' and 'Dollars
and Cents', 'I Might Be Wrong' and 'You and Whose Army?'. The
album will be out in June with a single preceeding it.

CAN
OR CANNOT?

[27-12-00] Kidaweb's
Richard recently managed to e-mail THE Damo Suzuki after searching
around for his e-mail address. (Damo Suzuki was the lead singer
of CAN at one time who have of course been a huge influence on
Radiohead). He asked him if he had ever heard any of Radioheads
material) and he said: "Hi Richard, I'm living in country
and don't know anything about radiohead, etc... No, I'm living
in Cologne/Germany. I'm not really interesting to hear any other
music except mine But, I try to hear Radiohead when I get next
possibilities".
ED O'BRIEN ON TRIPLE J...

[20-12-00] Radiohead's Ed

Christmas, and just did an interview on Triple J, the country's
national radio network. He was on air for almost an hour, talking
about Radiohead's year, the recording and release of Kid A as
well as the new album. He mentioned a couple of the songs that
would be included, and said that the album was originally due
for release in April, but they are now looking at a June release,
as they plan to release singles off it and do some video clips
as well. He mentioned that the band would also most likely be

RADIOHEAD
INTERVIEWED

[18-12-00] Thom
Yorke has revealed that when the band confounded critics and went
to Number One in the US and around the world with 'KID A' they
felt they had turned into The Beatles. After reeling off each
of the countries in which the album took the top spot on its week
of release - in so doing putting pay to the belief that they were
not interested in any form of commercial success - Yorke described
the buzz he got from what they achieved saying "We were the Beatles
- for a week." Speaking exclusively to Steve Lamacq for broadcast
next Wednesday (December 20, 8pm GMT) on his BBC Radio 1 Evening
Session the Radiohead frontman also described the feeling behind
'Kid A' as "the idea that we're giving birth to the lifeform that
will inherit the earth after we destroy it in about 50 years".
The idea is also related, he said, to his feelings about the new
millennium, working through "apocalyptic thoughts" he couldn't
get out of his head. Joining Yorke were bassist Colin Greenwood
and guitarists Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien.Drummer Phil Selway
was at the birth of his second child.
The band also expressed frustration at suggestions that they
were trying to be difficult with 'Kid A'. "When people said we
were being difficult - that freaked me out actually," admitted
Thom. "We just moved on - I mean, is writing and being creative
and being in a band just supply and demand? It was only people
in the press who said we were trying to piss people off. " Ed
added that they were haunted by the phrase "wilfully perverse".
You can hear the rest of the interview, which finds the band relaxed
and self-deprecating discussing why Ed thinks Asian Dub Foundation
are the "best live band in the world", about Thom's inspiration
for songwriting and on solo albums in the future next week, December
20, 8pm BBC Radio 1.
The NME has an interview with Colin and Ed in the Christmas issue

THE
STORY BEHIND THE IDIOTEQUE SAMPLE

[15-12-00]
Radiohead have used a sample from Paul Lansky's 'mild und liese'
released on 'first recordings-electronic music winners' (1976)
on Kid A track 'Idioteque'.
Well, that's what everyone can read in the 'Kid A' booklet. But
here's the story behind it all. Read Paul Lansky's version here.
There's also an mp3 file available of the original 'mild und liese'.

THE
THOM FOR ACTION!

[11-12-00]
Thom Yorke has slammed the "grey haired buffoons" of the world
bank and IMF - claiming that although the UK Government has cancelled
debt repayments from many of the world's poorest nations, "some
countries will end up paying more". UK Chancellor Gordon Brown
told a Jubilee 2000 rally in London (December 2) that debt repayments
to the UK from approximately 40 poor nations, including Cameroon,
Tanzania and Mozambique would be wiped clean - or retained in
trust funds where they would be returned once those countries
reached certain conditions. [read the full story here]
PRESS, PRESS, PRESS

[07-12-00]
Dutch music magazine 'OOR' has a 5 page article on Radiohead.

NEW
ALBUM COMPLETELY FINISHED

[05-12-00]
The fifth LP is now completely finished. Here's some information
on it : It will be a long and complete full length LP with either
11 or 12 tracks and will hopefully be released some time around
April/May 2001. The LP will be made up of the tracks left over
from the Kid A sessions which have recently been played live.
That'll be balanced out with some of the less 'live' sounding
tracks from the Kid A sessions, at least one older track, as well
as quite a few tracks recorded since Kid A. There are no plans
for blocking any single releases, so the record company may release
a single preceeding the album. Thom's quote from the recent Rolling
Stone magazine interview : "It goes off in two ways. One is like
very broken machinery. The other is really fat and dark". Artwork
for the LP is currently being produced. Remember nothing has been
officially confirmed yet, of course. There are no live dates confirmed
at the moment, although rumours suggest a visit to North America,
maybe with the tent in tow, around April/May or May/June time.
[thanks a lot Max!]. Want more info on the new album? Click here.
IDIOTEQUE
VIDEO RELEASED

[04-12-00]
Radiohead have released a video for Kid A's "Idioteque".
This came as a surprise, because the band decided not to release
any promotional videos for Radiohead's 4th album.
The succes of the 'Idioteque' promo single sent out to radio
stations is probably the reason why Radiohead eventually released
a video as well. The video is shown on a lot of music channels
and features the band doing a live version of the song in their
studio.

KID
A ON TOP OF 2000 POLLS

[04-12-00]
VOIR (www.voir.ca) published their list of the 20 bests albums
of 2000. Kid A recieved the "album of the year" title and the
second place of the "reader's choice". VOIR claims that Radiohead
should be given the "Nobel Prize for artistic courage" because
of the anti-commercial release of Kid A. They also say that "Radiohead
should be considered the most important band of its generation.
And whoever does not agree just don't look in the good direction".
