planet telex on XFM remix album
[Wednesday 30-01-02]

As already announced in December Radiohead are to feature on a XFM remix album. Today, the track is confirmed to be Planet Telex, remixed by UNKLE. The album will be released on 18 February.

And now we're at XFM anyway, check their Cameron Crowe (director of Vanilla Sky) interview, with quote #3746 on Radiohead: “Particularly the ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ phase of Radiohead, because it's just rich and multi-layered, it’s kind of like you've ripped open the human mind and it's the thoughts and sounds of what goes on in the psyche, and that's what we wanted ‘Vanilla Sky’ to feel like. And it's also fun. I find Radiohead to be fun as well as challenging.”

Radiohead's cover of Neil Young's cinnamon girl is back for download. This time only available for atease mailinglist subscribers.

Channel V Australia are replaying the Reflections on Kid A interview on February 6th [thanks James]

And just a reminder: Saturday Night Live on Comedy Central on February 1st.

According to Musicnet.pt Radiohead will play three shows in Portugal this year. Two shows will be at the Pavilion Atlantic, in Lisbon, and one in Porto in June or July. [thanks Mario] These shows are probably part of a low-key tour planned for the summer.

DJ King Britt's 'Top 10 things that made me happy last year' featured Radiohead on number 7: "Everything in Its Right Place" Josh Wink remix. By far the best work by either two here ... such an impact on pop culture"

Anyway... a lot of artists vote for weird stuff. (some have voted for ok computer and kid a as well) Check it out here. [thanks lainey]

Kid Rock 'doesn't get' Radiohead
[Monday 07-01-02]

Kid Rock says he doesn't understand the appeal of Radiohead. He says their music does nothing for him. But he thinks a joint tour with the British band could be fun.Kid Rock told Q magazine: "I don't hate them, I just don't understand them. I've listened to their music and it does nothing for me. "If I have a party on tour I'm not going to grab for the Radiohead CD to get the party started." The star joked it might be funny to tour together. "They can go out and be sad and I'll pick 'em up." In the new Spin (Feb 2002), Radiohead was #15 top band of all time. Spin claims that Travis, Sigur Ros, Coldplay, Clinic, JJ72, Doves, Elbow, Wes Borland are influenced by Radiohead. The magazine named OK Computer as their Classic Album.

"On 1995's The Bends, Radiohead were a compelling young Brit-Pop band, but with follow-up OK Computer, they spooked rock fans into a new level of obsession. The album's brooding minor chords and white-noise buzz grew more claustrophobic with each track, even as Thom Yorke'spersonal-yet-impersonal lyrics made songs about car crashes and crushed insects somehow moving. Newer bands began to cop Radiohead's paranoid but confessional, slurry but catchy approach. In response, they sighed deeply and recorded Kid A, somehow transforming glitchy prog rock into classic pop." [thanks chance]

At the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, Washington they now have a Lazer Radiohead show in the regular schedule (Thur. thru Sat. I believe) for those interested who live in the area. Lazer lighting tastefully accompanied songs from all five albums. [thanks Tice]
