multimedia: Radiohead have left two tracks of the new album out of their sets. The instrumental "Treefingers" has not been played yet. But Idioteque made it's debut in Newport. The live recording of "Idioteque" (from the first Newport show) is now online. Go here to give it a listen. http://www.music.nildram.co.uk

notes: Radiohead played their first gig on their European tent tour in Newport (UK). Sigur Ros supported the band. Radiohead debuted the new album track 'Idioteque' and 'I might be wrong' was played for the first time since their gig in Milan. Even 'Permanent Daylight' was played.

review by Joe Osborne: I was at the Radiohead gig on September 1st at Tredegar House. And may I just say that it was unbelievable! I'll just apologise in advance for not remembering all of the names of the new songs, but they were all rather good. After a mediocre (yet highly original) support band who never disclosed their name, Radiohead opened with a new track, of which I can't remember the name. But it was enjoyable. It was different to a lot of the stuff on the other 3 albums, but in a good way! From then on the gig just got better. The tracks they played included The Bends, Paranoid Android, Exit Music (For A Film), No Suprises, and the highlight of the gig for me, Karma Police. The whoile of the audience sang along, lighters blazing and swaying in unison. After roughly an hour and a half of mesmerising performances, the band left the stage to deafening applause, which, as we'd all hoped, brought them back on stage to perform Street Spirit, Just and a new track which I forget the name of. More applause and they came back on ready to play a final number. Thom sat down, pressed the keys on his organ and the most horrific noise escaped! Laughter (from both the band and the audience) filled the tent, but once it had "warmed up" and a double bass was in place the two remaining members of the band on stage finished on a melodic number from Kid A. All in all, an unforgettable performance that everyone who enjoys Radiohead should buy themselves tickets for.
