support: clinic
setlist:
notes:
Firstly I was disappointed by the support band "Clinic" a very uninspiring
band with low key vibes that whipped the crowd into a coma, Then
into one of the most heightened starts to any gig I have ever been
too, to say the crowd were aching for them to burst onto stage was
an enormous under statement. Allot of beer throwing and several
crowd skirmishes aside everyone concentrated on the stage with a
kind of electric sizzle I have never felt before. The set list went
as published with all the new material from "Kid A" going down a
storm particularly "Everything in it's right place" moving thought
the established classics that lead to the usual audience participation
with poor vocals but that didn't seem to bother Tom or the boy's
one little bit. Although "Creep" was missing from the set list (
They must be tired of playing it by now) "Paranoid android" was
a perfect version of what a live song should sound like, as was
"Iron lung" and "Street spirit" altogether no low points at all.
In conclusion there were only a few disappointing aspects: 1. The
weather, That many people drying off in a big top tends to smell
a little !! 2. The screens to help the shorter members of the audience
were pitifully small 3. My friend who came with me decided she would
collapse with 30 minutes to go so I missed about 5 numbers while
sitting with her in the first aid tent Bonus points .. 1. Great
sound and lights and not to much dry ice !! 2. whilst following
the paramedics with my friend we got to walk right past the front
of the stage although Thom had his eye's shut in his deep vocal
parts I swear Johnny smiled at us !!!
