25 Talk Show Host

Radiohead's second gig at Teatro Kursaal in San Sebastian, Spain. featured another new song: '2+2=5'. Thom said that this is 'new, very very new'. the songs starts slow with guitars and then it goes very rock n roll (the bends style). Thom dedicated 'You and whose army' to "Bush and his fucking starwars'. Jonny even said some words in Basque and said "eskerrik asko" (= thank you) and after Talk Show Host (which was not on the setlist) he said "Gero arte" (= bye).

review by Iñaki:
the show was again fantastic. It started 22:04 and did end 0:20. I'm very happy cause they did a lot of changes on the setlist. so the people (like me) that goes to all 3 dates here can enjoy more (thanks rh !!!). The show started again with there there and scatterbrain. The sound was again AWESOME. This venue is magic. I like how up on the leadder rocks live. Thom talked a lot about Lift (and old song from the ok sessions...). We went mad again with sit down stand up (what a finish!!!). Just was a very nice surprise and they did it very heavy with fantastic lights !!!! Somebody told me that yesterday they lights were not used at 100% because of voltage problems. It might be true cause tonight the lights were better. When the band was ready to start punch at Thom started Pyramid Song [he should look to the setlist paper ;) ]. So they played that and then Pyramid Song. Tonight they did it a LOT better with awesome lights. During eiirp Thom went sidestage (really near the crowd) to sit down and see how jonny and ed were finishing the song. best thing about tonight was JONNY SPEAKING IN BASQUE !!! he went twice to Thom's mic and said "eskerrik asko" (means thank you) and after TSH he said "gero arte" (means bye). He did it fine !!!
I talked with him aftershow about this and told me he loves our language but words were really hard. I told him "you did fine!!" and he told me "eskerrik asko". very nice man. Great idea start the encore with I might be wrong. Everybody started dancing !!!. Knives out was a nice surprise. and then... "this a new song, very very new, called 2+2=5". this song is AWESOME !!!! it starts slow with guitars and then it goes very rock n roll (the bends style). Thom dedicated You and whose army to "Bush and his fucking starwars". encore 2 had sail to the moon (as the day before) and a very very nice street spirit to end. but people started making noise so they came back to play Talk Show Host. This song was not on the setlist. Thanks rh for another great show (2 in a row !!!).
sorry for my english, Iñaki

was set in a truly beautiful city, san sebastian/donostia, in the basque country. go there: beautiful.
the gig started with four tet as usual this tour, then, after a 20 minutes pause, radiohead.
the security guys were very nice, and i could give a sound tech my band's cd for the band. i really hope he won't waste it. anyway, the concert started with there there, which was awesome, then a
beautiful scatterbrain was played. for the first time i saw thom hold the mic and carry it with him around the stage (not on micstand, i mean). that looked weird indeed.
for lift he said it was a very old song some may know, from the ok computer sessions. i hoped for true love waits or big ideas but... in we suck young blood Ed missed the backing vocals on the first chorus, making it sound much less rich. in morning bell the sound techs, which had done a great job on the new songs, fucked up a few parts, confusing the band. jonny's guitar was too low
on a lot of parts, like he was not playing. bad. after no surprises thom said "don't you think that sounded like celine dion?".
on the national anthem, phil's drumming lacked of power, and sound problems surfaced again on idioteque. at the end of eiirp he sat at the right side of the stage motionless. at the end of imbw thom just said "stop" instead of the usual "now i think we should stop" and jonny didnt stop with the band making a horrible sound. thom laughed hard at him and jonny played the first riff of the song again as he wanted to say "i can play it any time i want". funny.
phil completely messed up the beginning of knives out and they stopped after a measure laughing at him, and thom played on the acoustic the chords to remind him of the pattern of the song. they were not very fit tonight.
then the new song: veeeery weird. i don't remember much of it as it was a hard first listen really, but i can say lots of rock guitar and two dinstict parts of the song, divided. like many of the new songs, it had repeating patterns.
yawa was dedicated to "fucking bush and his fucking star wars". then the last encores (the setlist talks for itself). in the end: nice concert but they can do a lot better. i've seen a few other concerts by radiohead and i know about the magic that they can create, and this just wasn't the case for me. they looked tired or something. maybe they had too many tapas in san sebastian! new songs sound great live, and they will be even better on the album.
