review by Nicole: first of all, thom's voice was in top form. he sounded incredible! particularly, "true love waits" was just beautiful. also "fake plastic trees," of course, and that was especially awesome because the last verse of the song was just so rockin' and strong, with the guitars, drums, and thom's voice all so big, but coming together just perfectly and powerfully.

the performance of "i might be wrong" made me want to completely melt into every sound. that was a ton of fun, dancing in the aisles with total strangers! most of the "kid a" and "amnesiac" tracks were a lot of fun, too. my section had a lot of fun together. msg was great because i had plenty of my own space to bounce around in. everyone was dancing and really having a blast.

the new songs sounded fantastic! most every song sounded much better than the album tracks. too bad they didn't play "myxomatosis," though. favorite performance from HTTT... hard to say. "2+2=5" was fantastic, just the perfect opener, and i was thrilled by the crowd's energy during that song. but "where i end and you begin" and "the gloaming" were top notch performances, also.

so i was happy to hear almost all of the new album, because the songs are still new and fresh, but i'm sad that it was at the expense of some older material. some songs just never get old, such as "lucky," "airbag," and "exit music." i've heard "exit music" live 12 times now, and i still crave to hear it again and again! basically i just love ok computer with all of my heart and soul, and really missed it tonight, but "paranoid android" was rockin' and beautiful all at once, and jonny just blows me off my feet every time i hear him play that live piano in "karma police." to me, "KP" was definitely the highlight of the night. i think it's my favorite live-performance song (though not my favorite album track). it's incredible to hear thousands of people softly singing along "this is what you get..." and then building up to everyone finally bursting and screaming "phew, for a minute there, i lost myself..." (that's what i love about lucky, too, thousands of soft, gorgeous voices singing "i'm on a roll..." i mean, WOW.) came home from the show and immediately listened to "airbag" and danced around my room a little bit more.

i was psyched to hear "my iron lung." i assumed they'd play just two songs from "the bends," a fast and slow, so i was hoping for either "my iron lung," "the bends," "fake plastic trees," or "street spirit." and i got my wish ("MIL" and "FPT")! that was exciting. after "airbag," i listened to "street spirit" because i just needed to hear it.

phil selway is my hero. i am his very own personal number one super-fan. what a brilliant drummer.

finally, b-sides. wouldn't it be nice if they'd play a show consisting of b-sides only? so many songs i've never heard live, but wish i could get the chance.

summary: they have so much incredible material, that if they played all of their best stuff, they'd have to play all night long. so was this the best radiohead show i've ever seen? no. but it was solid, and fun, and beautiful, and i was happy to hear HTTT live again. new stuff is definitely fun (but so are the classics!).

cheers,
nicole.
