Yorke & Bjork duet
Thom Yorke and Bjork have dueted on a song to be included on the soundtrack of 'DANCER IN THE DARK', the new Lars von Trier directed film in which the Icelandic star takes her first cinematic leading role. The as yet untitled track is to date the only one on which the two artists have been confirmed to appear together, as reported today in the new edition of Melody Maker. The magazine's suggestion that Yorke's vocals would be over-dubbed onto those performed by Bjork's co-star Peter Stormare have however been denied by a spokesperson for the film's production company. 4th Album update
The band are very near the end of recording the fourth album now. Most of the recording is finished and all that's left is mixing and finishing touches. The official release date that the record company have set is slipping slightly and may not be now until October.
They are currently having a few weeks break after the weeks of intensive recording they've just had. Some songs are now being mixed by Nigel Godrich, but there is still no finalisation date anywhere on the horizon for the album.
Tickets for the rest of the June/July tour will be on sale shortly. Keep checking the tour section for more information. Tickets for the Berlin dates are close to being all sold - (the venue only has a
capacity of 1100) all the main sections are currently sold out and it probably won't be long until the rest is.

And then there was... Webcast #3
Radiohead did their third webcast last night. Again, an unannounced record playing party called 'Amateur Night',. For tradition's sake the band played another new song live, called 'Wicked Child'. For lyrics and audio: 'Wicked Child'. Click on the link below for the playlist of thom and jonny's dj set:

European tour dates announced
Radiohead have announced their 18-date tour through Europe for June and July. The tour takes the band to France, Italy, Spain, Israel, Greece and of course the earlier announced dates in London and Berlin. To see the whole tourlist, check the tour section.
A spokesman for Radiohead said that they didn’t want to play normal venues and had looked very hard for something different - the tour includes a number of theatres in addition to their appearance at the Festival Hall. Despite a hole in their schedule that could include the Friday and Saturday of Glastonbury, the spokesman stressed that they will definitely not be playing festivals because they want to play to a crowd who want to see Radiohead. It is now expected that the as-yet-untitled album will not be released until at least October.

Ed's diary updated
Ed updated his diary with a new entry: "there's a line drawn.....above which are the names of tracks finished bar mixing.....and below, those nearly completed. for the first time the tracks below and above the line are equal in number. that was the state of play at 5am friday morning. 'knives up' was complete. i was telling a mate over the w/end about 'knives out' and how it was started in copenhagen on 10/3/99.......some 373 days later we finally finished it.............a ridiculously long gestation period for any song..........naturally my mate thought that having taken so long on a piece of music it would be some sort of magnum opus, a kind of paranoid android to the power of ten..................... the song is probably the most straight ahead thing that we've done in years......and that might explain why we took so long on it. i'm a real believer that bands as they become more successful often lose the ability to do straight ahead stuff well...... the need to embellish tracks with melodies and sounds becomes imperative. and often in doing so the song loses its essence especially if it was written on acoustic guitar. but i think we've done alright on 'knives out'.........
thom's got a busy old week this week........most of the finishing touches are vocal things. i'm trying to get my head around some new software called logic which seems to be what all the right programmers are using...........the manual is about the thickness of a hardback edition of 'war and peace'.........he's singing along to 'fastrack'. he's hyperactive as well....it's 1.30am..fantastic.."

More European gigs!
Two more tour dates have gone on sale on-line for Berlin, Germany on 3rd and 4th of July. Look at www.eventim.de (search for Radiohead), but these dates have not been confirmed by the band. The people at the box office seemed fairly confused and the venue didn't know anything about it - to be safe I would advise you to get some assurance that they will be playing or that you'll get a refund from the box office itself.
Other rumours of a headlining appearance at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark between 29th June and 2nd July are floating around, but they they are definitely unconfirmed at the moment. Final confirmation of the July/August European tour dates will appear soon.
Recording of songs for the fourth album is continuing "in leaps and bounds", the final recording should be finished in the next few months, and then it is down to mixing and final tweaking.
According to Parlophone, the final release date of the record still seems to be on course for September, to coincide with full promotional duties and a UK tour.
Stanley Donwood, Radiohead's resident webmaster and art designer has also just opened his own website, slowly downward at www.slowlydownward.com

More news on Meltdown Festival
Details for Meltdown Festival tickets:
The Festival Hall box office will be open from 10:00am (13th March) to purchase tickets for the event. Tickets are limited to two per person, and are, I believe, unreserved seats. The phone number is +44 207 9604242, or you can pick them up from the box office in person. The majority of tickets will be availible on-line at the Meltdown website at www.meltdown.co.uk
If you fail to get tickets there, w.a.s.t.e. have 500 tickets reserved to sell to fans. Details will appear on the official Radiohead website at http://www.radiohead.com/bulletin.html on Wednesday March 15th- but it will be limited to two tickets per person and a random draw will be carried out if there are more than 250 people wanting tickets. The draw will remain open for a long time after Wednesday, so you won't be disadvantaged if you enter late. All tickets cost 20 UK pounds each.
Radiohead should be playing a fairly normal length set at the festival (not as long as a normal gig however) - as they are the headliners for the 1st july night. The festival itself, presided over by Scott Walker, will last for a few days and include exhibitions at the Festival Hall. The full line-up will be announced shortly, but both Smog and Jim O'Rourke will also be playing.
After the Meltdown appearance, Radiohead are in the process of finalising more dates around Europe to play. These are *NOT* confirmed yet, however, and could change, but gigs in Dublin, Ireland (in the first few days of July), Italy and Spain, among others are all being looked at. The gigs will be a combination of festival appearances and performances in smaller low-key venues. The band will not be appearing at any other festivals in England this summer, apart from the Meltdown festival.
After the band have finished playing their summer dates, they will start promoting the new album, which will probably be released around September (no date confirmed yet), and will do a more comprehensive tour in early 2001 (including North America).

Radiohead announce live date
Here's a message from the band announcing a live date:

w.a.s.t.e. will be getting 500 tickets for sale to w.a.s.t.e. members. Details here on 13th of march.
just a while after the announcement Thom appeared at the official messageboard for a few minutes confirming that the band are not playing any large venues this summer. concerts in america and canada will probably take place in 2001.
a fan asked if radiohead were going to play glastonbury. thom answered: no we arent coz were chicken. sorry

4th Album finshed in April, release in September
The band have set themselves a deadline to finish recording LP four by the end of March. This means the release date will be around September, hopefully with a single preceeding it.
From over 30 songs that they are working on, the band have got a shortlist of 16. These include : the 8.5 minute long Cuttooth, Egyptian Song, Dollars and Cents, Everyone (The National Anthem), Follow Me Around, How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, I Will, Keep the Wolf From the Door, Kinetic, Knives Out, Lost at Sea (In Limbo), Morning Bell, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Optimistic, True Love Waits, You And Whose Army
It will not be a double album and the tracklisting is not confirmed, but the band will be, over the coming weeks, deciding on which tracks to use and trying to reduce it down further from 16 songs.
