Website for Greek tickets finally online

Have a look at: http://www.didimusic.gr/book.htm for the Thessaloniki and Athens shows. Anyone living outside Greece can book tickets @ the above site. At last, they bothered to do it.

Thanks Raina

Radiohead to play charity gig in Bristol?

The idea of a charity gig organised by the members of Massive Attack in Bristol, England is being knocked around again (an almost identical event was planned in 1997 but never happened). Daddy G and 3D from the band have asked Radiohead to play. (thanks max k.)

Massive Attack have recently been in the news after the band have joined forces with the British Red Cross and the Bristol, UK-based Beira Fund, and have pledged to donate their licensing fee from an upcoming product advert to charity. They will license their "Angel" track to Emporio Armani's for use in HE/SHE fragrance line commercials. The British Red Cross will receive the bulk of the fee, but a portion will also be donated to the Beira Fund, which will help rebuild schools that were devastated in the recent Mozambique floods. Beira is the sister city to Bristol.

Venus to support Radiohead on two dates

Support for Radiohead on the Arles and Vaisons la Romaine dates comes from Belgian band Venus.

Venus have released three albums. They signed with Italian label Sonica Factory Records in '99, who have released their latest album, "Welcome to The Modern Dance Hall".

The band have two very clear, precise ideas; to use only acoustic instruments: drums, a violin, a guitar, double bass, and vocals.

Pre-Radiohead recording released

Exeter-based label Hometown Atrocities have uncovered an early pre-Radiohead recording featuring Thom Yorke. Thom played guitar in the band Headless Chickens during the late 80's while at Exeter University. Their song "I Don't Want To Go To Woodstock" appears on the compilation CD "Year Zero/The Exeter Punk Scene 1977 - 2000", available by mail order directly from Hometown Atrocities or at Opal Music. Year Zero also comes with a lavish 28 page booklet jam packed with photos and information dating right back to the scenes very beginnings in 1975 and '76 as well as a complete Exeter punk A-Z.

[thanks max & paul]

Greek dates on sale now!

We had to wait very long, but the tickets for the shows in Greece have finally gone on sale. Unlike all the other European show, there won't be a website where you can order your tickets. The ticket house at 42 Panepistimiou Avenue in Athens will sell the tickets for the two Athens dates. Or call +30 13608634 or +30 13608366. The tickets are 12.000 each. The Thessaloniki tickets can be bought from either the Patsis Record Shop at 39-41 Tsimiski St. or Musicland Records, 102 Mitropoleos St. See www.didimusic.gr for more information and email didi@otenet.gr with any queries.

According to Raina 30% of the tickets will be available for English Radiohead fans. The theatre they're going to play at, in Athens, is of a 5000 capacity. (thanks Raina H. & Max K.))

No Bjork/Yorke duet

Bjork has NOT recorded a duet with Thom Yorke, according to a spokesman for Bjorks UK label, One Little Indian. "Those rumours seem to appear out of nowhere. Some bartender probably saw Björk and Thom together and rang one of the tabloids." It was believed that Björk had recorded the track for the soundtrack of the the film Dancer in the Dark, directed by Dogme founder Lars Von Trier and starring the Icelander. But the singer has recorded a duet, with French movie icon Catherine Deneuve.

New 'Climbing up the walls' remix released

Fila Brazillia have been one of the most consistent and respected underground ‘dance’ acts of the 90s. Releasing six albums on the Pork Recordings label, they ended the decade by forming their own Tritone label (recently changed to ‘Twentythree’ due to legal reasons). Alongside their plethora of albums and single releases, Fila have also been responsible for some rather fine remixes, the best of which are featured on this compilation. Their services were often requested due to the artists in question being fans of the band rather than for a record company’s profit interest. This was the case with the remix of ‘Climbing up the Walls’ from Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’ album which came about because of Thom Yorke’s admiration of Fila. A version did appear on the commercially released single (the b-side of ‘Karma Police’) although the one included here was omitted.

This double CD (& 3 LP) is available at kudos records and cdnow.
