Ed and Colin on Supergrass release party
Ed O'Brien and Colin Greenwood turned out in London last night to celebrate the launch of Supergrass' new album 'Life on other planets'. The party at the CC Club in the West End saw a number of UK stars - including Ed Harcourt and Tricky's one-time muse Martina Topley-Bird - take to the stage to cover Supergrass hits in a loungecore style, backed by a lounge band. Coxon, looking relaxed and not missing Blur one little bit, closed the covers section, blowing out the lounge band and instead blasting through Supergrass's 'Richard III' [from: supergrass.tv]

Colin: "A quarter of the way through with the new album"
Thom and Colin were on the Mark Radcliffe show on BBC Radio 1 this afternoon, Colin said that they were a quarter of the way through with the new album and that it would be out as soon as possible next year. Radiohead were nominated for the Halon Menswear Music Awards, but didn't win. Thom jokingly said that they would hear from his lawyer. [thanks Ross & Jane]
Click here for some audio from the show.
Their BBC bio: Radiohead are proud members of Romany families and first met at a horse rustling and shopping trolley fair in Stevenage where they were all competing in the under fives bare knuckle fighting. Their first album "pablo Picasso" was released only on wax cylinder and eight track cartridge yet still reached number 73 in the Faroe islands - since then their experimental fervour has seen them release such landmark albums as "OK Breviile Sandwich Toaster", "Amnees'n'bumps a daisy" and "kid Gloves" a tribute album to the shirehorses.
Still good friends the radiohead boys all live together in a luxury coal bunker in Wensleydale.

Courtney Love & Jason Lee on Radiohead
Courtney Love did 24 straight hours on MTV. She started complaining that they promised to be the band of the century, but disappointed with Kid A and "Amnesia". To make up for her idiotic statements she played the Creep performance from the mtv beach house. They also played the entire live at the ten spot Radiohead concert later on in the evening [thanks Steve & Stanley]
On Friday's "Last Call with Carson Daly", actor Jason Lee was asked what he'd like played on MTV. he said "the stuff that's usually not on MTV." The first band he mentioned was Sigur Ros. He also mentioned Beck and Radiohead, which received some audience applause. [thanks Peter]

Press spots Thom in LA
The press spotted Thom in Los Angeles. The Guardian at the Chateau Marmont hotel, high above Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. "Thom Yorke, in LA for the next Radiohead album with Beck's producer Nigel Godrich, casts a pall over this sunny September afternoon. The singer climbs, grim-faced, into the band's chauffeur-driven, black people carrier as though he's about to join a funeral cortège." [thanks Psychomat]
And the LA Times: "The Well in Hollywood turns 1 on Sunday, and Radiohead's Thom Yorke was turning girls on at the Hollywood bar when he popped in last week. Creepy
...." [thanks Peggy]

Thom Yorke to make rare solo appearance
Thom Yorke is to make a rare solo appearance at this year's Bridge School benefit concert in the US. This year's concerts take place at the Mountain View Shoreline Amphitheatre on October 26-27, and will be the 16th annual event.
The shows are aimed to raise funds for the non-profit school co-founded by Neil Young, which works with children with speech and physical difficulties.
MTV news reports that alongside Yorke, this year's bill also includes Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams and Neil Young, amongst others.
It is likely that at the shows, Yorke will take the opportunity to play new material from Radiohead's forthcoming, sixth album. The band are massive fans of Young, and have previously covered his classic 'Cinnamon Girl at live shows. The group have just come back from the US, where they recorded for two weeks with longtime producer Nigel Godrich. [from nme.com]

I haven't spoken to him about it, I've only met Colin and, er, the other one. [thanks filtherator]

Buzzcocks' Devoto & Rolling Stone on Radiohead
Howard Devoto, former singer of Buzzcoks and Magazine talked about Radiohead in an interview at shelleydevoto.com:
So what about Radiohead? "'Creep' - well, great. And 'Karma Police'- ditto. I didn't connect with O K Computer otherwise. But Kid A and Amnesiac got me interested in Radiohead again. And 'Pyramid Song' is just fantastic. I'm in tears every time".
Howard devoto recorded an album with Pete Shelley, Buzzcocks former guitar player, Shelly Devoto. it's called Buzzkunst!
Rolling Stone have their own opinions about Radiohead's views on Naomi Klein's 'No Logo'. Here is a part of the Well Hung At Dawn column on Rollingstone.com's website. They're reporting from the Reading fes. and are looking at t-shirts.: " We also see one that says "No Logo" on the back. Not sure what was on the front. Probably a fucking Radiohead logo." Beck & Radiohead
As mentioned earlier, Radiohead attended the Beck show on Friday (Aug. 30) at the Wadsworth Theater. But, the press noticed their presence:
'By far the coolest star sighting, though, were all five members of Radiohead, fresh from a European tour, giving Beck a standing ovation for his subdued encore run-through of Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning." Instead of leaving right after the song, Thom Yorke and Co. just stood there looking stunned before being whisked by security into the backstage area.' [thanks Zack] full story here.

Moby covered Radiohead's 'Creep' in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 20, 2002. Due to heavy rains and audio complications, the opening act, Dirty Vegas, was unable to perform. Moby played an extra long set to appease the crowd. Before playing "Creep", Moby stated, "We've only played this song in rehersal. It's a great song, but Radiohead never plays it live for some reason." Radiohead did play "Creep" as their final encore in Portugal. [thanks discostashball]
